Chaotic Brat

Next morning.

Ning Haiyan woke up feeling refreshed and stretched his  body. He went to his study desk and prepared to summon his martial soul.

After a night of thinking, the shackles of identity inside his mind were gone.

'Anyway what's done is done, there is no use crying over spilt milk right?' he thought.

That's why now Ning Haiyan wants to confirm his hunch and see if there is anything special with his martial soul.

A light bloomed from his right hand and an unnatural, two layered lotus flower with red circle core pulsating appeared above his right hand.

"This is—"

"Ahh!!!! You finally opened it. Why did you have to wait that long~!!"

An illusory, long-haired girl with gray hair down to her waist and menacing red eyes appeared in front of Ning Haiyan, who was visibly shocked.

"Oh? Where is this? I don't feel that hateful energy around here anymore…? That's weird," the girl jumped and looked around his room, closing her eyes and stretching her arms trying to feel something.

"Uhm… who are you?" After recovering from his initial shock, Ning Haiyan turned his chair and asked the girl, staring at her in curiosity.

"Huh? Me? I'm Fu Hua! The greatest warrior that will purge the Honkai!" Fu Hua declared with her nose in the air.

Her answer made Ning Haiyan's head throbbed. Of all things he wished wouldn't happen, the worst had occurred.

Judging by her speech and appearance, she seemed to be the persona of Sentience rather than Fu Hua herself. If it were the real Fu Hua, she wouldn't have behaved like this.

Now, he doesn't have any dislike towards Sentience. It can even be said that she is one of his favorites.

But that's only limited to when she was still behind the screen!

Simply put, she was like a child—a child who couldn't differentiate between good and bad, yet too stubborn to be taught.

"Hey! Hey! Don't ignore me!" Her shout snapped Ning Haiyan out of his thoughts.

"My bad I was just having some thoughts… So what are you, why are you here?"

Ning Haiyan's question seemed to confuse Fu Hua. She scratched her head furiously while exclaiming loudly.

"Aaaah!! I don't know either!! You! Where is this?? Why does the energy here feel different?? Why did you have Fenghuang Down??-"

Before Fu Hua could overwhelm him with her question, Ning Haiyan signaled her to stop and said, "Wait! Wait a minute… slowdown. I can't answer most of those questions right now; it would take too much time, and I have to visit my family soon."

"Oh that's easy, let's go inside it and we can talk all we want," Fu Hua said while pointing at Fenghuang Down which had been slowly rotating in place.

" Can it do that?" Ning Haiyan asked with wonder and stared at it.

He knows what Fenghuang Down is and more or less its ability, but it was never mentioned that it has this kind of space inside of it.

"Anyway I'm waiting inside, just concentrate on wanting to dive deeper in your mind. See ya!"

Fu Hua disappeared soon after telling him how to enter Fenghuang Down, or more specifically entering the mind consciousness with its help.

"Here goes nothing," Ning Haiyan sighed and sat cross-legged on his bed. He closed his eyes and concentrated his mind, trying to immerse deeper inside his mind's consciousness.

...

After a few minutes, Ning Haiyan felt a tug inside his mind and followed its direction.

"Took you long enough!!"

Startled by the voice, Ning Haiyan opened his eyes in a snap. He found himself in a vast, dark space with gray sand flooring.

"Why are you floating around like an idiot? Come here."

Ning Haiyan floated to her side and wondered aloud, "So this is the inside of my mind, huh? It looks different from what I had in mind. It looks barren except for this 10 meters in diameter golden sea."

"Of course, it does. Actually, yours is a good starting point compared to those older than you—Wait! Why am I explaining this to you? Answer my question first!"

Fu Hua, or rather Senti, grumbled and crossed her arms under her chest.

"Alright, take a seat first," Ning Haiyan said, sitting down on the golden sea. Surprisingly, it didn't feel wet; it was more like sitting on a hard floor.

"Oh, but before we begin, I want to confirm something. Surely you can wait until I've finished explaining before asking questions right? It's you after all!"

Ning Haiyan asked her by playing with her pride. It was better to deal with a child by confirming their abilities like this, as children often have big egos, especially the one in front of him now.

"Of course I can!"

"As expected of you... Okay, so I'm not sure what you mean by Honkai, but I haven't heard anything about Honkai in this world—"

Ning Haiyan then proceeded to share all that he knew about this world—Spirit masters, martial souls, factions, and even his current home, providing only general information.

"Oh~~ I see, I see. Though that must have been hard on you, right? Acquiring memories all of a sudden like that. No wonder your soul is stronger than your peers,"

Fu Hua nodded sympathetically, understanding his experience. She had awakened with years' worth of memories herself.

She didn't know where the Fu Hua in her memories had gone, but that was a good thing.

'Now the real Fu Hua is back online!'

She thought with a smug look, leaving Ning Haiyan who had been observing her expressions, puzzled by her rapidly shifting face.

"So… according to you this world is a story from your past life?" Fu Hua inquired.

"Yes, but it doesn't mean the world will unfold exactly like the story. This and that are different matters altogether."

Ning Haiyan answered seriously, believing it was necessary to inform 'Fu Hua' about this. Otherwise, some of his actions in the future would be limited and doesn't make sense to her.

Fu Hua stayed silent for a few minutes before she suddenly exclaimed.

"Then let's go! Let's go outside! I wanna see how different it is compared to what you have told me!" She leaned in closer to Ning Haiyan, her entire expression radiating excitement.

"Ugh, too close!"

Ning Haiyan instinctively backed away from Fu Hua with eyes closed, not out of embarrassment, but because being scrutinized closely by a pair of eyes and smile, filled with intense enthusiasm, felt somewhat unnerving

He took a breath and recited to himself, 'Remember it Haiyan, fight fire with fire! Be the devil to defeat a devil!'

Sighing, Ning Haiyan reopened his eyes and gazed at Fu Hua.

"So... you want to explore the world and see how the characters are doing?"

"Yup yup!" Fu Hua nodded enthusiastically with a broad grin on her face.

"Observing the main characters? Or even the protagonist and his heroine?"

"Uh huh! But just observing won't be enough. Let's mess them up too!"

At this point, both of them felt a connection as they locked eyes, with growing excitement. They discussed their plans for hours until Ning Haiyan suddenly remembered something.

"Oh but wait!"
