1 The beginning of a legend

An ordinary young man, who appeared to be 16 years old asked himself a question:

"Where am I?"

When he found himself in the middle of a vast plain filled with red sand, he felt as if his body was warming up while his soul was frozen.

[System Initialization]

1%...

2%...

8%....

As the system updated, William wondered about everything until...

[SYSTEM ERROR]

[Human body not suitable for system update].

[Forced race modification to fit the system].

William then felt an intense pain deep within his soul as if it was being stretched in all directions and rolled into a ball like a sheet of paper.

"AHHHHHH"

The pain lasted as William saw his entire life flash before his eyes. When it seemed like an eternity had passed, the pain finally stopped.

A message appeared before him:

"What's going on here?" as confusion overtook William he noticed a blurry shape approaching him.

"From the shape, it appears to be a human, perhaps he can help me" As William remembered the pain he had just experienced, he broke out in an instant sweat.

The figure approached and finally William could notice what it was.

"Shit, how is that even possible!

What was approaching him wasn't wearing any clothes, or even skin, it was a moving skeleton.

Ding

As William analyzed the status that suddenly appeared, another message appeared.

Ding

Triggered Quest: "Become the Hunter

Requirement: Defeat a skeleton (0/1)

Reward: 10exp, System Feature Activation

Detail: "To survive it is imperative for the user to become stronger!"

While William was reading the messages floating in front of him, the skeleton began to run at full speed in his direction

"Shit, although my stats are higher than his, he not only has skills, but also a sword..." As William began to panic, the skeleton wasted no time.

He shortened the distance in an instant and a sword came towards William's head. Relying on his instinct, he instantly escaped... no kidding, when would a sensible person not start running? Unfortunately the agility of the two was equal, so William knew very well that if he started to run, he was doomed to die, because unlike him, the skeleton has unlimited endurance. So he took his courage in both hands and while the skeleton was swinging his sword he looked for a loophole to succeed in striking a blow.

As the blows followed one after the other, William slowly got used to the rhythm of the battle and even a certain excitement began to manifest itself in him, until the moment when, only by his instinct, William approached the skeleton narrowly escaping a slash and threw a punch in the skeleton's face.

A small message appeared above the skeleton's skull:

-10

But before William could express his joy, the skeleton, who was backing up a few steps, as if he had not suffered anything, sent a sword strike towards himself.

"No good!"

William could not totally dodge and received a large diagonal wound from his chest to his right collarbone.

-13

"Shit I forgot, skeletons are totally unresponsive, but although I'm super sore, this is well within my tolerance zone" Indeed after undergoing the inhuman torture of the system, his willpower has been strengthened to a whole new level. But William didn't have time to think as the skeleton came closer again and started to chain together slashes, stabs and a special set of steps, like a well-oiled machine.

"This skeleton is really tireless huh" William sighed as he himself began to feel his body getting heavier.

"It's all or nothing, according to my calculations, if I manage to hit him again, then I win the game, otherwise I die" After this thought, the feeling of excitement was such that even his aura started to change although it didn't affect the skeleton at all. After understanding the skeleton's attack pattern, William again took the opportunity to throw a punch, and the skeleton obviously not learning his last lesson, could not react in time.

-10

As this beautiful number was displayed, the skeleton started to collapse. And then a notification suddenly appeared.

[Detect that a skeleton of rank (F-) has been defeated.]

[1exp (+0.5) received.]

[Detecting that the host has fulfilled the conditions of the quest, the reward is awarded.]

[10exp are obtained.]

[Exp satisfied...]

[Level Up.]

[5 stat points are awarded.]

[Unlocking the system.]

[Soul King feature is activated.]

[Hidden Soul Power stat revealed.]

[Congratulations!]

[The user is now able to harness some of the power of the system.]

[The user now has the ability to resurrect defeated creatures and turn them into minions.]

As William marveled at the power of the system, another notification rang out.

Ding

[A nearby soul meets the requirements to become a subordinate.]

[Hint, if the user wants to revive the skeleton, they only need to transmit their intentionality]

"Hahahaha, rise brave warrior, from now on you have the honor of being part of my glorious army"

Suddenly, the skeleton that was totally dismembered quickly began to regenerate, eventually kneeling before his master.

As William looked at his first warrior, another notification rang out:

Ding.

[Congratulations to the user on receiving his first soul].

Thus began the journey of the man who literally had the strength of an army.
