Experiment

" Hmm. Not bad. You brought a good test subject. I will make sure you get rewarded properly. Place him in the experiment cell. We will be completing the research today." a man of average built said in a calm but imposing manner. He was wearing lab coat, gloves and holding a memo pad exuding a gloomy and frightening aura. But his most prominent feature was his hairstyle and moustache which appeared like they had been electrocuted.

They were in a lab room

" No problem Josh. Just remember my reward." the guard said turning to take the still unconscious boy to the cell.

"One more thing. Have you checked his background, like if, someone comes looking for him. I might not be able to suppress them." enquired Josh.

" Rest assured. I have already checked out his ID on the police server and there is no record of him. He is probably an orphan." replied the guard.

" One last thing. For God's sake stop calling me by my name! I am the head researcher now! " yelled Josh.

"Alright! Alright!" said the guard while leaving with the boy.

As soon as they left, the head researcher turned to look at the super computer behind him. Streams of complex code and data were currently being processed. Suddenly the result appeared at the center of the screen.

" Analysis completed! Super soldier serum formulated!" a mechanical voice rang.

"Ha! Ha! Ha!"

The head researcher started laughing like a mad scientist.

" Where am I?" Ryan asked as he woke up from the impact of being thrown. His eyes were unable to adjust to the surrounding light.

" You will know soon enough." replied a voice with a cold laugh followed by the sound of door closing.

" Why is my luck so bad!!" he shouted but all that came out was air.

When his eyes adjusted to the light, he checked himself for any injuries and found that there was a mild pain in his neck. He got up and looked around the room and saw that there was no furnishing in the room. The floor was made up of a special white tile which exuded bright white light., the same as the walls. The ceiling was made of glass and there were air vents present on the top of the wall.

There was a one sided mirror present on one of the walls.

Suddenly a white gas started seeping out from the air vents and reached the floor. He was startled by the gas, then his mind started connecting the dots. Realization dawned on him and he started pounding the mirror with his fists crying and pleading to let him go.

On the other side of the mirror few researchers were watching this with excited expressions. They had devoted their whole life to this research and now it was the final step.

Seeing the boy pound his fists on the mirror they sighed. It was a necessary sacrifice and if they succeeded with him then they will reward him and if they failed, well, then the boy would die.

Josh took up the microphone and spoke" Little boy you don't need to worry as soon as the experiment finishes we will reward you properly. "

He put back the microphone and observed the experiment solemnly.

Ryan stopped pounding as his fists started to bleed. When the speaker had spoken he knew that there was no hope left. He had tried to hold his breath but ultimately ended up inhaling the gas. There were no reactions as he had suspected but he felt full of power.

On the other side there were cheers and laughs seeing the first stage being completed successfully.

" Begin the second stage." Amidst the cheers Josh's cold voice echoed.

Immediately all researchers started their preparations.

Ryan was a bit dumbfounded as he saw the gas dissipating slowly. There was practically no harm done to him. He knew that human experiments were banned because of their extreme danger.

Just as he was thinking that everything was over, he heard a humming sound and then a bright a goldenes light was emitted from the ground. His body was covered in the light. At first it was comforting but then he felt pain and then his whole body was in utter torment.

He was loosing his consciousness. He thought that this was his end. He clutched the locket of his parents and prayed for help. Suddenly darkness covered him, then endless darkness prevailed.

On the other side everyone was sad they had failed again. The intensity of light was too high.

Just as they were getting ready to shut off and leave. A black void suddenly appeared in the middle of the light then whoosh...

As the light faded away there was no one in the room.

Everyone was shocked because no matter what. The body can't dissipate to nothingness.

Just as they were pondering what had happened a cold female voice echoed.

" You will pay for what you have done."

Before they could recover from what had happened blackness covered them.

Outside the factory reporters were gathered and shouting to get an interview.

Suddenly before their eyes the whole factory area disappeared leaving behind dust.

Somewhere in an undercover base.

A person was sitting leisurely playing with a ring on his fingers. Suddenly he got up and smiled " They finally acted."

Meanwhile as all this occurred Ryan drifted at high speed in a wormhole.
