2 Chapter 2

The Meister and the weapon walked through the streets of Death City. They were silent, but it was a comfortable silence. "Are you hungry?" Yui asked. "No, we had lunch not too long ago," Katashi said. "Oh, right," Yui chuckled. Then there was an awkward silence again. This can't go on, Yui thought. Just as she was going to say something Katashi said something first. "We should find a place to talk," Katashi said.

"I know this cafe some of the other girls in the dormitory go to all the time," Yui said. Katashi nodded. The two walked into an alleyway. "Are you sure this place is good?" Katashi said. "They're pretty girly, so it can't be that bad," Yui said. Yui walked up to the door Katashi close behind her. The two walked in, the inside was nice and homey. There were a few people there. The meister and weapon sat at a table with the two chairs. "Hey, what do you want?" said the waitress throwing down the menus.

Yui picked up the menu and went to the drinks. "I'll take Raspberry juice," Yui said. "And I'll have Iced lemon tea," Katashi said. The girl wrote it down then walked away. "So, what did you want to discuss?" Yui asked. "Since we're going to be partner's we have to learn how to be comfortable around each other," Katashi said.

So he noticed the awkwardness too, Yui thought. "I agree," Yui said. Then the waitress came back with both of our drinks. "Here you go," she said placing the cups down. "Thank you," The two said in unison. Yui took a sip of her drink. "I think this is your tea," Yui said. Katashi took a sip of his cup. "Yeah, and this is your juice," Katashi said, pushing the cup over to her and grabbing his tea.

"What weapon are you?" Katashi asked. "I'm a chain mace," Yui answered. "You mean a flail?" Katashi asked. "Well kinda, it's like the ball and then a long chain a short handle," Yui explained. "Oh, that sounds interesting," Katashi said sipping his tea. "How long have you been a meister?" Yui asked. "I started yesterday, you?" Katashi said.

"I figured out I was a weapon almost a year ago," Yui said. "You should have seen my brother's face when I threw my ball at him," Yui chuckled. Katashi smiled. "So when did you figure out you wanted to be a meister?" Yui asked.

"My brother was a meister, I caught him slaying a Keishin one day, ever since then I wanted nothing more," Katashi explained. "Where is your brother now?" Yui asked sipping her drink. Katashi's smile dropped. "I don't know, he went missing two years ago. I asked death if he was dead, but he said his soul was still alive," Katashi said. "And you hope to find him," Yui said. Katashi nodded. Silence fell around them again. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" "It's ok, you didn't know," Katashi said.

The waitress came back with the bill. Yui was bout to take out her wallet but was stopped by Katashi. "This is my treat," Katashi said. "Oh, ok, thanks," Yui said. Katashi paid the bill and they left. They arrived at a park. What are we doing here? Yui thought. "Ok, let's test this out," Katashi said. Yui looked at him with a confused look. "We need to see where our wavelengths are so we know where and what we need to work on," Katashi said.

Yui nodded understanding what he's saying. "Alright, shall we?" Katashi asked. Yui nodded. Yui transformed into her weapon. She fell from the sky then into Katashi's hands. "Ow," Katashi exclaimed, then dropped Yui. "What happened?" Yui asked. "Your chains are hot," Katashi said. Katashi crouched down to touch the chains again, but they were still hot.

"I guess our soul wavelengths aren't in sync," Yui said changing back into her human form. "We only just met, it makes sense we wouldn't be in sync," Katashi said. "Are your hands ok?" Yui asked. "It's fine, I just have to bandage it," Katashi said. "The girl's dorm is too far from here, they should have bandages," Yui said. Katashi nodded. The two walked to the girl's dorm. Once they got to the bathroom Yui rapped his hands. "So where do you live?" Yui asked. "I live in an apartment not too far from the school," Katashi answered.

"If you plan on moving in with me I need a week to get my get it in order," Katashi added. "W-what? N-no that not- wait didn't you come here a couple of days ago?" Yui asked. "I don't want to talk about it," Katashi said. Yui chuckled. Katashi looked down at Yui's chest, but he was looking at her soul. It's small and dem like it's afraid or worried, Katashi thought. Katashi looked up at his weapon. It's still new, we have to give it time, Katashi thought.

"There you go," Yui said as she finished bandaging his hands "Can you still move them alright?" Yui said. Katashi made the grabbing motion with his hands. "They're fine, it doesn't hurt that much," Katashi said. The two sat in awkwardness. "Um, maybe we should get out of the girl's bathroom before one of the other girls come in," Yui said. "Yeah," Katashi agreed.

The two walked out of the bathroom. "I should go," Katashi said. He walked towards the front door. "I'll see you tomorrow," Katashi said as he looking back at his weapon. Yui blushed and nodded. Then Katashi left. Yui let out a breath of relief. It feels like I've been holding my breath for the entire day, Yui thought. Yui looked at the clock. "It's only four o'clock?!" Yui exclaimed. "Ugh" Yui whined. Falling on the couch. If I'm going to do this I need to stop being awkward, Yui said covering her face.

I have to talk to someone, Yui thought. Yui left the dorm and went to an apartment building. I knocked on the door. it took a few minutes then Tsubaki opened the door. "Oh Yui, what brings you here?" Tsubaki asked. "I need to talk weapon to weapon," Yui said with her head down. "Oh of course," Tsubaki said gesturing for her to come in. Yui walked in and flopped on the couch. "I heard they gave you a Meister today, how was it?" Tsubaki asked.

"Awkward," Yui said. "Oh, I see," Tsubaki said. "I don't know what to do, I can't scar off another partner," Tui said burying her face into a pillow. "It's ok Yui you just met, the awkwardness should go away over time," Tsubaki said placing a hand on her shoulder.

"That's what you said last time," Yui said. "Yeah well-" Tsubaki stopped mid-sentence. "What am I going to do?" Yui asked. "Listen when I first arrived at DWMA I was scared too, I didn't know who I was going to get partnered up with or if I was going to get on at all, but when I saw Blackstar I knew he was going to be my partner," Tsubaki said.

Yui looked up from the pillow and looked at Tsubaki with a really? look. "How could a Hyper Monkey like Blackstar be your partner?" Yui asked. "Because I saw deeper than his rowdy personality, as silly and irresponsible as he is, I know that deep down he has good intentions, he wants to be an assassin like the rest of his family," Tsubaki explained. "The Star clan, a clan of assassins," Yui said. Tsubaki nodded.

"What's your Mister like?" Tsubaki asked. Yui looked down at the pillow. "He's quiet, nice, tall handsome, he's knowledgable and from what I can tell a hard worker," Yui explained. "He knows I'm uncomfortable and tried to make me comfortable, and an all-around good presents," Yui added. Tsubaki smiled. "I have a good feeling about him, just give it time," Tsubaki said.

Yui hugged Tsubaki. "Thank you I needed this," Yui said. "I promise I won't just pop in like this again," Yui said pulling away. "Don't worry about it, come over when every you need to," Tsubaki said. Yui said her goodbyes and then she left back to the dorms.
