2 Attacked By The Forces Of Darkness

As the words faded from Brad's mind he heard a student yell "what is that?" as he pointed in the distance towards the wasteland, Brad turned to look only to see a mass of fleeing animals and behind them a horde of goblins rushing at them.

"Flee! go east to the town of Mirdis and seek safety!" yelled the instructors as they ran abandoning all but the most valuable and important students. The remaining 30 students fell into a panic as they watched the instructors grab 2 students each and run, the remaining students began chasing after them only to be left behind.

Brad at this time wished that he was a rank 1 warrior, then he would have had no problem keeping up with the instructors. "leave the group!" the voice called out again, "they will only make you a bigger target!, head south towards that mountain and seek a cave to lay low."

"Are you sure?" asked Brad aloud as he tried to not to get left behind, "yes! trust me and I promise you can survive this." replied the voice. Brad turned and ran into the tree's, hoping that he would not regret this choice.

After only a few minutes he could hear the screams and yells of students, Brad shuddered and asked the voice "Who are you? and why are you helping me?". The voice replied, "My name is Aaron, In the great endless war I was an archmage obsessed with death magic and in fact, I was so obsessed I released my own soul in an attempt to see mana as spirits do."

"And as why I'm helping you it is very simple, when you left the protection of the shield I saw my chance to bind my dissipating soul to yours." said Aaron "if you die my soul will once again wander and continue dissipating, I can offset the dissipating by draining the souls of the dead."

"What great endless war?" asked Brad "the kingdom of Reftium has only ever had 3 wars and all ended quickly." Shocked Aaron replied "what year of the golden age is this?" only to hear Brad say "what is the golden age? the most ancient ruins are said to be from the age of demons."

Brad eventually reached the bottom edge of the mountain after 1-2 hours of running, luckily it seemed the goblins didn't notice him or just didn't care to chase as he didn't see any following him. he spent a little more time looking for a cave as it was still night to sleep in after he found one he crashed right into a deep slumber.

The next day he awoke to Aaron yelling in his head "WAKE UP! FOR THE LAST TIME WAKE UP!, A GOBLIN IS ENTERING THE CAVE!" Brad scrambled to his feet and asked "what do I do? I don't have any weapons..... only this small knife."

Aaron yelled in his head again "ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS TOUCH HIS HEAD AND I WILL OVERPOWER HIS WEAK WILL AND CONSUME HIS SOUL!" Quit yelling thought brad as he sneaked towards the cave mouth.

This poor goblin was not even prepared, as he sat down and started sorting his loot he was suddenly tackled from behind and in less then a second felt as if his mind was getting crushed. Brad picked himself off the body of the now dead goblin, and at Aaron's orders began looking over the loot the poor goblin had brought to them.

A pile of rags, one small very rusty dagger, a wooden club and what looked like a money bag from a human. Seeing this pile of trash he thought to himself that only the money had any real value as he tossed the dagger and rags into the cave, he grabbed the club and walked out of the cave.

"Wait said Aaron." are you just going to leave that body there? "why not summon a zombie?"

Brad was shocked and replied "a zombie? those are evil mindless monsters! and anyway I don't know magic."

Aaron said "you want to live right? a zombie is one of the easiest monsters to control because it's mindless." here said Aaron "ill teach you the spell, all you have to do is exactly what I say." "Okay," said Brad, as he settled his mind "ill do it."
