1 Chapter 1

It was about to become another busy day for me, just like any other day, being the only student in this room who doesn't have such a ludicrous dream like becoming a prime minister, or an accountant, or a lawyer. The kind of dream that some people usually end up failing, and then proceeding to aim for the jobs with the highest salary.

Sora Kuroku, 16-years old. My status as a student in my local high school is quite exceptional, My grades are somewhat unbelievabely high, but I've asked the student council to prevent the release of my grades to the general public. They agreed, simply because I intended to prevent that everyone needs to know that I am successful despite my background as "Bad" student.

My past remained a mystery to me, but whatever has transpired over the past 6 years. A lot of people, including some pushy adults, wished to never let me know. But ever since I got into this high-school in Kyoto, Japan. I've been doing quite well on my own, despite the fact that everyone hates me. Studies for me aren't that hard, neither are the school activities, yes even the ones that need groups of people to complete, that they would assign to me. At least that's just my thoughts on the subject, I'm sure that even the darkest of this school's council members have some deeper reason to keep me in check every now and then.

Everyone who entered the class were now chattering among one each other about things like hard lessons, friends with problems that aren't worth my attention, The upcoming quarterly exams, who to take to the festival dance, and almost every thing in here started to fill the room up with the same chitter and chatter of people, people who don't seem to mind my existance at all, but it was all for naught to even try and converse with them. But of course, this morning isn't exactly the average school morning without the grand entrance of four particular people...

"Good morning, my dear friends!" a vibrant brown-haired boy entered the class, who then was followed by three other people "Oi! Yuuki you don't really need to annoy poor Sora with your "honorable" greetings..." A red-haired idiot said next to him "Oh shut up Shiro, just because Sora took 1st honors above you, doesn't mean he's meant to teased about it..." A black-haired woman behind Yuuki's left spoke, She went up to my seat, which was the back of the class, and apologized for Shihiro's rude behavior.

"Well, 1st honor or not, he's still pretty dangerous..." Said a burly student, who towered above the rest of the class "...I've seen his criminal records, and for a student, they're nothing a normal student should have..." he said loudly. Everyone in the class then began staring at me, as though I had become an sore spot that appeared mysteriously behind their backs. Even though we had been on this kind of practice for about 6 months.

I sat there and took it, there was nothing I could do, that wasn't stupid.

"Well then!" Shihiro stated "Little Sora here is gonna be happy to know..." He trailed off as he slammed a hand on my table "...That he's just received a lot more detentions!" Everyone in the class gave me the usual stares of disapproval, disappointment and spite.

"We've caught you once more! painting down in the back of the school. Like usual, just like the stupid dream you wanted back when we were all kids..." He taunted with a smug smile. Trying to get the information about this mishap deep into my head, but this wasn't my first time.

I couldn't help but recall an unpleasant memory of his back in grade school. I smiled back at him, but more elegantly and devilishly.

"Well, the difference between the two of us..." I rose up slightly "...Is that i'm not a coward, who picks fights that only he knows he can win..." I snickered. He grabs my collar "Why you little punk!" The rest of the class started panicking, some even tried to back Shiro up, but Yuuki and the burly boy were holding his shoulders, trying to shake him, and his allies, off.

"See? you even need friends to help control yourself..." I said "...That is our difference..." "At least he's got friends!" Stella said "And he's not as big as a trouble maker as you!" she added.

I smiled back at them, the kind of smile I've given to a lot of people ever since that day I only remember, the day I've begun my change, that day when I finally understood the workings of this world, the very smile that begun to bring pain, confusion and turmoil onto those that once tortured me. The bell rang once more and Yuuki and his two other friends had to calm down Shiro as they desperately tried to drag him away from my Villainous gaze.

'Well, Isn't that a drab...' I thought. I placed in my bag several group assignments, and right after I grabbed my bag, that's when it happened.

A large ring of light appeared beneath the classroom, irradiating a powerful and blinding white light. "What the-" everyone said "what's going on?" everyone panicked, but it is futile. The light then enveloped the entire classroom in a remarkable explosion and soon after, we were surrounded by complete darkness. I was scared, and for I could feel my body, laying still on ground surface? My hands and legs also felt something, something cold, something wet, then the "room" lit up from beneath once more.

The wet pool's substance is indeed liquid water, but this water illuminated our steps as our feet waded within it, our feet leaving trails of light as we moved. But my thoughts then concentrated on what I suddenly heard, a step, a singular step. As if it was meant to tread carefully, my ears twitched, it always did when i felt something was wrong "Everyone! gather around!" Yuuki called. Everyone gathered to the source of Yuuki's voice, which revealed everyone's location as they all moved towards it.

I stood still, rather than moved closer towards Yuuki. To prevent being spotted by whatever made that noise. I notice my backpack floating above the water's surface and immediately grabbed it. Holding still, then something pierced the silent darkness.

"Are they here?" a feminine voice said. Everyone then looked around surprisingly, as if they heard a ghost.

"Yes, your highness. The summoning ritual has been successful, as it should be..." Another voice, that of a male, followed afterwards.

"Oh dear..." the feminine voice said again. A light shoved itself into the darkroom, the light revealed to me the surroundings, we were in a small pool, it's depth reaching only our shins. And in front of us, there is a woman, dressed in thick, white, gold trimmed robes, and 6 other men dressed in the same fashion. The orb of light however was more interesting, it rested on the hands of the woman, slightly hovering above her palm. There was candle nor flashlight. 'Magic?!' I thought, my heart began to race violently 'Wait, that ring earlier couldn't have been...' My eyes widened, even though I couldn't see properly in the dark. For a moment there was silence between Yuuki and his group, and the Woman and her's.

"Dear heroes I am sorry for the conditions we had to summon you through, but I hope you can understand our situation once we've been given our chance to explain" She said smoothly "Please follow me..." Everyone slowly gotten up the pool, through the sides, I was being assisted by two cloaked figures. But I effortlessly gotten up by holding tightly onto the edge and pulling my self up. They were surprised, and brought out strange sticks in a second 'Wands? are those really...' My mind then focused on the wand-like sticks, but as I took a closer look, they retracted them away from me.

The woman called in all of cloaked figures and pointed to a direction, then she said "Follow me please..." Everyone followed up with her. But I took out something from my bag before I followed, it is a Hoodie. But this wasn't no ordinary hoodie, it is strange hoodie, my only conclusion to it is that probably it might be, probably, magical. I followed after them, and when I bumped into one of the hooded figures by accident, they didn't seem to have noticed, and thought my contact was only a figment of their imagination. But when we got out of the smelly place we were allegedly 'summoned', we were greeted by a long hallway, following this pattern for 3 consecutive turns. Each hall having more and more armored figures than the last. Filled with burning torches and banners holding an insignia I am not familiar with. The woman turned once more and said:

"Dear heroes, welcome to Avalon. Please make haste! My father wishes to meet the heroes that shall save us from the very forces that threaten our world, and yours..."
