Fight for survival

As I slowly open my eyes I see a weak flickering light, as my vision is a bit blurry it takes some time for my eyes to adjust. I spring up as I am unaware of whats happening only to find my head to hit the roof of the bunker.

"Aahh damn" I groaned in pain but not from my head but the side of my body as I feel intense pain hit me. It was so intense that I start to sweat and lose colour in my face, and I look down to see a bandage stained red and getting even darker, because my wound had opened up again.

"Hey you are up, you shouldn't move around that much as you are still injured and it would be bad to make it worse" said the soft voice not to far away from me.

I turn around to see a young girl about my age, wearing a dirty orange dress. She had short, straight blue hair and amber eyes. She seemed happy that I was finally awake and she smiled at me.

Before I could even ask her she said "I saw you fighting those Earth shinobi and I was hiding here, so when I saw you get hurt I brought you here and fixed your wounds, and don't worry this place is safe, but you have been sleeping for nearly a day now and you began to worry me" she said this in a soft tone which made me comfortable as she reminded me of my mother.

I didn't bother to reply as I thought 'a full day to wake up' then I straightened myself up against the wall. I didn't feel like i was in any danger because I could feel no hostility in her words, the fact that she helped me recover and brought me somewhere safe, and lastly the fact that even if she wanted to kill me, i'm not in a condition to defend myself anyways, so i let my guard down and focused on my breathing to ease the pain.

Seeing me in such agonising pain she looked down and saw that my wound had opened up. again, she began to worry. She pressed her hand against my wound and applied pressure, to hopefully slow the bleeding down. I winced in pain but then began to focus on circulating my chakra around my body, this was a trick that I had picked up while hunting as I saw many animals do this to recover small cuts and wounds.

Since I had started to practice using my chakra as such a young age which meant that my chakra control was far ahead of others, also the fact that I had a deep understanding with the human body, I was able to learn this technique as it would be near impossible for others to learn. It works by circulating chakra around your body, then you have to infuse the chakra into the cells that you want to fix. By infusing the chakra into them they fix quicker, this is why you had to have vast knowledge of the human body and how it works and not to mention that fact that you had to concentrate really hard.

All though this technique is only good for small wounds, it would still help recover bigger wounds but it just wouldn't be as effective and would take major concentration to work. This was something that I wanted to research and improve in the future.

After the wounds stopped bleeding she took the bandage off and I could see how deep it was. When I looked down, the cut was almost deep enough to reach my bones and it was quite long, it was a deep wound. The rest of my wounds weren't as deep and they might take about 5 days to recover if I keep my healing technique going all the time.

Konan began to rinse out my bandage because it would be even worse if it got infected, and luckily she prepared a bowl of water for my wounds. I straightened my back again so that she could wrap it around me, then she also got a blanket and something for me to rest my head on which was lucky because having a cold wet bandage was terribly uncomfortable, especially when you are cold.

A few days passed and I got to know her better, I realised that she was in the same position as me, because we both lost our parents and were left alone. This made us understand each other so we connected quite easily. I remember thinking to myself that all I would ever need is my mother, looking back I realised how naive I was.

On the third day I could move around a bit, but I would still hurt as all my wounds had scabbed over, so I didn't move much because Konan helped me. I have to say that it's very uncomfortable and embarrassing to relieve myself into a bottle I front of her; but there was nothing I could do about that, and I was lucky enough that it was too dark so she couldn't see much.

On the fifth day we were getting low on food, only enough to last a day and a half, but the good news was that I had mostly recovered from all the other wounds except the biggest one. Since I could me more freely, we both decided that it would be better if we moved out and went to go get our own food.

After packing everything that we could carry we moved off. Konan showed the exit and it lead to a pond, this is where we got our water supply. When she lifted up the door to peak outside, she scanned the area. After marking sure that it was safe she crawled out and did one more check before turning to help me get out.

Since it was almost constantly raining here we both wore some rain proof clothing that we had stolen from the shinobi. I looked around as it was my first time here and realised that it was open muddy land. Konan told me about the industrial village the was here, but the village was on the west side of us, in the direction to the Land of Wind. I told her about the forest that I grew up in and be both thought that it was the best and safest place, as there was food and water and we had a tent for shelter, making it the ideal place to go.

After Konan said one last goodbye to her parents graves we set off in the direction of the forest, but it would still take us just under a day to get there.
