15 Wrath of Asgard 5

{Apokolips, Kelda}

The Vanir Asgardian gazed up at the Apokoliptian sky mesmerized by the golden particles that soared overhead. She and her fellow Valkyries were watching awestruck alongside the Parademons and Apokoliptian forces that they had been fighting for so long. It wouldn't be long before they watched the energy field be pulled back in to the far side of Apokolips. Kelda began to feel a smile come to her lips, she believed that it could be none other than one certain Asgardian that had done this. It was the God of Might, the Firstborn prince of Asgard, and the only man that all of the Nine Realms would follow behind. The Valkyrie inhaled, then exhaled before looking to her fellow sisters. In their eyes, a fire had been lit. They too knew who had done this, who had shown them their full might coming to bare.

That said, realistically, their situation had yet to change. Around her, Kelda could see many of her sisters slain and on the precipice from being wiped out. They've slain hundreds, thousands, maybe even more before death embraced them and their Pegasi. Despite the amount that they've killed, the forces of Apokolips still outnumbered them greatly. They had now begun surrounding the Valkyries while their numbers had been shortened. Kelda and her fellow Asgardians stood within a large 50 foot circle, each either having a shield or using a fallen Apokoliptian's as their shield. The Valkyrie herself had lost her helmet, heir vanilla blonde hair stained with blood both her own and not. She panted gently as she held her sword up, prepared to fight to the end. For the Nine Realms, for Asgard, for Drüin.

Before the Apokoliptians and their mindless Parademons could close in on the Valkyries, thunder roared overhead. All eyes looked upwards to find the Bifröst coming down once again. This time, it was going in a circle around the Valkyries. As the beam of Bifröst energy moved along, hundreds, thousands of Asgardians wearing more tribalistic armor appeared. Each being black and silver, similar to the newly minted Black Raiders. As soon as the Bifröst was finished transporting this army of reinforcements, an Asgardian on horseback stood at the front of this army. He had an Asian like look to him, his mustache trimmed and goatee braided. His weapon of choice was a smooth round stoned mace. This was the current king of Vanaheim, put in place by Prince Drüin himself, Horgarth. He raised it into the air just as the Bifröst came down once again, this time allowing another round of reinforcements to appear.

This time, those who had arrived were the denizens of Alfheim and surprisingly their queen. Aelsa Featherwine stood poised and professional like, her head raised as she glared at the Apokoliptians with disgust. Her golden armor gleaming, it's ornate design for all to see. Behind her stood her fellow Elven brethren, their armor just as ornate with one horns at the top of their helmets. They bore long spears and large kite shields as they raised them up. The king of Vanaheim, and queen of Alfheim shared a look, then looked to Kelda expectantly. The Vanir Valkyrie was shocked, reinforcements had arrived. They weren't expecting them, they were expecting to most likely die while trying to give their prince time. That said, a proud smile began to plaster itself on her face.

Kelda looked to her fellow Valkyries, they too looked surprised and confused. Then watched as their second in command raised her sword. "Sisters!", Kelda called, "Asgard is with us! The Nine Realms is with us!"

At those words, determination sprung forth in the hearts and spirits of all the Valkyries there. Each facing the surrounding Apokoliptians who prepared to attack now, after having seen the arrival of reinforcements. "For Vanaheim!" Horgarth exclaimed, then charged forth with his army. The Vanir Asgardians repeating the chant and followed behind their king.

"For Alfheim!" Aelsa exclaimed, rushing forward with great speed and was followed after by her warriors. They too repeated the chant as they pointed their spears downwards and had their shields up to block whatever attack may come.

Kelda followed suit, charging forth and was soon followed by her sisters. The three Asgardian armies forming a firm and offensive line. "For Asgard!" Kelda exclaimed, then lunged upwards and came back down to cut one Apokoliptian in half with her sword once she was close enough.

Asgard heard their prince's words, they heard his call, and despite not having told them to come. They came regardless, they came to their prince's side, they came to the God of Might's aid. Their love for him won out, and now they had come to give them their aid.

{New Genesis, Odin}

The Allfather was in shock, he could feel this high presence coming from stars away. It felt familiar to him, as if it were Yggdrasil itself trying to get into contact with him. Then it hit him, realization dawned onto him. Even as he held Gungnir at Highfather's throat, even as he had his boot heel firmly placed on the New God's chest. Drüin Odinson, his son, had awakened the very mind of Yggdrasil once more. 'You've done it then...' Odin thought with a proud heart. A soft chuckle escaped the Allfather's lips, confusing the weakened Highfather. Blood drooled down from the corners of the New God's lips. He didn't know why the Asgardian King hadn't killed him yet.

"Ah, where are my manners", Odin suddenly said, "I was to keep you occupied, but it seems that I went a tad too far. Forgive me, from one king to another but my warrior spirit won out over my normal rational thinking."

"K-keep me...occupied." Highfather questioned with a croaked tone.

"Yes, for you see my son had planned to drop your city. And I will not be surprised if-" Right as the Allfather was about to finish that sentence, he felt the ground beneath him rumble. For a few seconds he was thinking that the New God was getting a second wind in him. Then thought otherwise when his body began to feel weightless. He nodded, realizing that Hela and Tyr had achieved their objective. Removing Gungnir from Highfather's throat, he stared down at the New God then tilted his head slightly. "I must say, you have waged war with Darkseid for many eons. Yet when put against a true warrior you do not stand a match against me. If you wish to be stronger, then you must face stronger adversaries. If you survive this, remember who it was that did this, who it was that made you fall from grace...quite literally."

After speaking, Odin turned and moved away from Highfather. The New God sat up while using his elbows, and saw the Allfather be surrounded by the Bifröst. The King of Asgard was gone within the next moment as sudden dread filled the New God's face. His home was falling, and he only had minutes to do something about it.

{Hela}

The Goddess of Death smashed Mjölnir into another New God's face, then hurled it at the one firmly seated in their self imposed throne. She watched as the New God went intangible allowing her weapon to pass right through them. She growled from frustration before recalling the mighty weapon back. It wouldn't be long before the hilt of Mjölnir was back in her palms. However feeling her body go weightless made a toothy grin come over to her face. "Well done Tyr." She commented, then watched as the Asgardian God of War having returned. He had a gash on his face and a quarter of his own forces using returned from the entrance to the anti gravity generator.

Tyr looked to Hela, then nodded his head to show that he had been successful. Without wasting time, she raised Mjölnir to have Heimdall return them back to Asgard. As she did, she felt a tide of energy wash over just as the Asgardians were enveloped by the Bifröst. A frown came to her face, a shiver went up her spine. The Goddess of Death remembered this sort of energy, then her eyes widened in shock. Realizing what may have happened and dread overcame her. 'No, you had better not be dying you kind son of a bitch!' Hela thought, thinking of her twin brother Drüin's wellbeing. As soon as they had entered the Bifröst, she stormed her way towards Heimdall while Odin stood beside the Guardian of the Bifröst. "Heimdall, send me to Apokolips, now!" She ordered.

Before Heimdall could speak, Odin replied with a raised brow. "Why must you go there?" The Allfather questioned, then watched Hela turn her ire onto her father.

"Because that idiot needs my help, now let me-" Hela didn't get to finish that sentence, for the Allfather simply placed his palm on her shoulder. As soon as Odin did this, Hela found herself going across the stars without a body. It was as if she was being transported with the use of the Bifröst, except she had no body.

"Drüin does not need your help...observe." The Allfather's voice came, echoing all around her. For the first time since she had been born, Hela was able to see through the eyes of Odin and Heimdall. She soon found herself at the Hellish world of Apokolips. Not long after she saw the winged Drüin just as he said his last sentence in anguish. A proud smirk coming over her formless lips after hearing it.

"...AND I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!" Drüin exclaimed, then punched Darkseid's rocky jawline. Hela watched as the God of Might punched the Dark God of Apokolips' right jaw off and send the Apokoliptian flying.

Only three words could describe what she was seeing. Though one may get the wrong impression that she may imply. 'That's my boy..' She thought.

{Apokolips, Drüin}

The God of Might had just sent Darkseid flying with a devastating punch. Not long after, he flew after the Apokoliptian, his body radiating with energy and his wings moving formlessly. At no point did they flap, it was like their mere prescence was enough to give the Asgardian Prince the ability to fly. As soon as Drüin reached Darkseid, the Apokoliptian was rising back up to his feet. With a cocked back fist, Drüin punched his foe again, sending Darkseid into the air this time. The Dark God of Apokolips flung upwards like a ragdoll before catching himself. The God of Might was already chasing after him, he was gritting his teeth as he raised the Sword of Asgard. "Enough of this!" Darkseid spouted, then used his Omega Beams to halt Drüin's advance.

Unfortunately, Drüin hurled the sword at him. Seeing this, Darkseid moved to dodge and had his Omega Beams move around the sword to continue on course to his enemy. The God of Might's wings moved forth, shielding him and dispersing Darkseid's Omega Beams. The Apokoliptian's eyes widened, then narrowed into a glare as he continued firing at Drüin. The God of Might however moved closer to the point that he reached Darkseid. As Drüin drew near to Darkseid, the Omega Beams did little to break through into the God of Might's dome like shield made from his wings. Once he was close enough, Darkseid sent a fist at Drüin's shield, but found it move from around him quickly. Drüin sent his own fist to meet Darkseid's, both of their knuckles clashed and caused a shockwave that dispersed the clouds around them. The God of Might quickly grabbed Darkzeid by his forearm with his free hand, then threw him back to the city below.

The Dark God of Apokolips still had a missing part of his face, he was flying away from Drüin while firing Omega Beams at his enemy. Each time that he did however, the wings at the God of Might's back moved like whips to defend him. As if they had a mind of their own, and would move to protect him whenever he was in danger. Darkseid flew around several buildings, trying to lose Drüin. However, the God of Might stayed on him, he punched through every single thing that was in his way. No matter what it was, he blew through it as if he were a speeding wrecking ball. Darkseid would eventually fire a full powered Omega Beam after the God of Might was getting closer to him. The dome like shield made from Drüin's wings protected him once more. The Apokoliptian moved quickly, narrowingly dodging being crushed by Drüin's shield.

Flying upwards and away, Darkseid prepared to use a Boomtube to escape. The God of Might had just proven to the Dark God of Apokolips that he was going to kill him. Drüin however had other ideas, he was not going to let the Apokoliptian get away from him. The formless golden glowing wings sprung forth like tendrils. They wrapped themselves around Darkseid, halting him in the air. With a spin, Drüin sent the Apokoliptian downwards towards one of the many blazing pits of Apokolips. Not long after, Darkseid was then tackled by a speeding Drüin who got a good grip on the Apokoliptian's bigger throat. Both were surrounded by the scorching flames of the pit, despite that Darkseid still sent several punches into Drüin's face. Of course, the God of Might could feel them but his pain tolerance was so advanced now he could ignore Darkseid's blows. Drüin gritted his teeth and cocked back his own fist.

"This is for Midgard!" Drüin shouted, the sent his fist forward. It punched a hole right through Darkseid's gut.

"This is for Asgard!" Drüin shouted again, then punched Darkseid once more. This time, he punched right through the Apokoliptian's chest and armor.

"And this...IS FOR BRUNHILDE!" Drüin exclaimed, then threw his final punch into Darkseid's face. He evened out the Dark God of Apokolips' face, taking away his other half of the jaw that he had left. Then allowed the force behind his punch to send the Apokoliptian out of the fiery pit.

Darkseid's body crashed through a building, then skidded across the pavement of his dark city. A low groan or what could be described as such came from his disformed mouth. His vision was blurred, and blood came out of him quickly. Shock, fear, and hatred feeling him as Drüin soon arrived beside him. The God of Might held out his hand, and felt the Sword of Asgard return to him. The blade gleamed in Drüin's palm as for the first time, his expression became slightly softer. He glared down at Darkseid, staring at the Dark God of Apokolips irregularly. His rational mind had returned to him as he held the Sword of Asgard with a tight grip. "Darkseid, I know a simple truth that many others may not be aware of", Drüin began to say in a slightly calmer tone, "Said truth is this...I cannot kill you, the real you at least. I am aware of how powerful that you really are. I know what true power that you hold."

The God of Might went silent, watching as Darkseid's face contorted into what could only be described as a mocking smile. However that changed when Drüin spoke his next words. "That said....this sword can ensure one thing that you would hate. I can make sure of one thing that would make you hate me forever....I can banish your very prescence from this universe. I can make sure that you could never return or ever be reborn here. I can end your threat our mine and everyone else's existence...with this sword. It will not kill you...but it will wound you. It will scar you, and it will make sure that you never come back."

Sudden shock and dread came over Darkseid's eyes at Drüin's words. Before he could try to use his Omega Beams, the God of Might raised the Sword of Asgard, then brought the blade down into Darkseid's chest. It pierced through his armor, his chest, and exited out into the ground below. The force behind it made the ground shake, crack, and become a small crater from where the two were. Drüin watched as Darkseid's body contorted, his essence being forcefully ejected. For a moment, the God of Might could see the true face of Darkseid gain a scar over it's eye. A scar that he placed upon him, a mocking smirk came over Drüin. He had done something that no one had done, he made sure that the New God God of Evil itself could never return to a universe. He knew that no matter what he did, Darkseid would have returned someway or somehow. But with the Sword of Asgard, with the power of an entire Realm and Yggdrasil itself. The God of Might ejected the very essence of Darkseid from this universe altogether. He barred Darkseid's return...forever.

{Ten Minutes Later}

Drüin floated towards where the battle was being fought by Asgardians and Apokoliptians alike. It was an intense battle, something straight of movies and comics. The God of Might watched for a few moments, his golden hueing eyes gazing down before deciding that this battle was over. He had his wings flow outwards, beginning to brighten and flash everything. The flash of light was like a solar flare going off at point blank. It was meant to get everyone's attention, to make sure that they were paying attention. After he did this, he watched as the all eyes turn upwards to see him floating there. In one hand, Drüin still held the Sword of Asgard, in the other was Darkseid's corpse to which he held by it's head. "This war, is over!" Drüin shouted while dropping Darkseid's body.

The corpse of the fallen New God spiraled downwards before crashing against the ground like a ragdoll. The Apokoliptians stared at the now dead Darkseid in shock, the slowly gazed up at Drüin with terror as the blade he wielded was stained by the Apokoliptian's blood. "I have slain your king, your God. I have bested Apokolips' best in battle, Asgard has defeated you! This war ends now! You followed Darkseid because of the power he had, because of fear that he inspired into you! I am not telling you to grow some modicum of free will. I am telling you to fear Asgard, I am telling you to fear me. Asgard showed you it's wrath, remember today is the day that Apokolips fell all in one day. Remember today is the day that Drüin Odinson beat you!"

After shouting his words towards the still shocked Apokoliptians, Drüin turned his attention to his fellow Asgardians. They stared up at him awestruck at his new form. He raised the Sword of Asgard, and began to use it's great power to levitate their dead. Those who had fallen in battle from Valkyrie to any of those from Vanaheim and Alfheim, being placed in a group as the God of Might prepared to take them back to Asgard. To him, they all deserved a proper burial, to him, they all deserved a proper send off. The headless form of Brunhilde came to his side, allowing him to use his free hand to grab it. With a mental command, the Sword of Asgard forcefully used the Bifröst to send all Asgardian forces back to where they came from.

'Yggdrasil, why me?' Drüin slowly thought as his body and those of the dead followed behind him through the Bifröst.

'Because child, you are not meant to exist', A distorted yet elegant voice stated, 'You were never meant to be born, you are something of an anomaly. The power that you wield is something that I have not seen since my very birth from Ymir.'

'What does that mean?'

'Ymir was like you, an anomaly that should not have existed. He created me, then began creating the Realms by hand or through his death.'

'I see....'

'Ask the question that bothers your mind child.'

'...Is there a way to free your essence from the sword?'

Yggdrasil remained silent, it's voice not replying for a few moments.

'If you are asking if you could free me...then no.' The cosmic entity replied, causing the God of Might to close his eyes in frustration. Then he immediately opened them after quickly processing Yggdrasil's response.

'If not me, then who?' Drüin questioned.

'You already know child, you will be reminded eventually.'

Drüin pondered on those words as he saw that he was returning to Asgard. A small smile came to his lips, now knowing that there was a way to free Yggdrasil. That there was a way to return the power of the Asgardians. That he was not the only one to have been reincarnated in this universe. And yet, sadness still clouded his mind. Victory was achieved, but at a cost.
