1 Son Goku's Distress

After the struggled fight against Moro the eater of world and their next foe Granolah, the sniper Son Goku and Vegeta were combating against each other in the isolated gravity room located within capsule corps. Ki blasts were being flown between the two warriors as each were in their respective most powerful forms dodging and flurrying attacks in return. Amidst that battle, the Saiyan raised on earth was in his mastered ultra instinct state as a mysterious presence enveloped him with his silver hair allowing him to achieve complete control of his body from instinct allow.

Vegeta on the other hand was surrounded in a purple aura, his ultra ego state as he called it gushing out the power that Beerus, the God of destruction taught him to embrace. These two titans were battling it out as Vegeta lashed out blows after blows pursing his foe until he laid dead. Each of the warriors had gone from faraway combat to a more confrontational approach as Vegeta was the instigator with his flurry of kicks up in opponents . With the mastery of instincts in his possession Goku dodged the Saiyan prince's attack with a twist of his body manoeuvring Vegeta punch away into one of the walls of the chamber. With the slight movement of his hand he landed a swift air punch in Vegeta's rib cage, causing some blood to splatter from his mouth onto the ground.

This attack didn't seem to faze the prince but instead he just laughed ," HAHAHAHA! This is the battle I always wanted from us Kakarot, an equal and fair battle that I could never have before." After this he proceeded towards his rival at super speeds and slamming his head against his opponent as Goku's state of omnipotence starting to render less effective the more time passed.

Goku being flown across the area just gasped slightly as he was able to maintain a graceful landing on the wall of the gravity chamber by spinning his body in a twirl. Vegeta was just giving a confident smirk in his ultra ego state as he taunted the calm warrior to come towards him with a condescending smile.

Goku just gave a stern look towards Vegeta arrogant attitude. He cuffed his hand together as a blue energy arsose between his hands and now proceeding to run at breakneck speeds around the walls of the chamber. Vegeta was focusing his mind so that he could pinpoint the location on which his rival would shoot the blast forming in his hands. Vegeta just slowly looked around with his eyes and shoot multiple chi blasts around the place as Goku with his eyelids closed shifted his body to the left of right, above or down to avoid each blow.

Slowly whispering, "Kame, me ha, me." Vegeta couldn't seem to pinpoint the location of the warrior as he closed his eyes and proceeded to try and sense his adversary ki but alast it seemed that the warrior was too fast for Vegeta.

Finally, Vegeta hit something behind him with a big bang attack yelling, "There you are!"

Indeed the figure he hit was a Goku but was only an after image as the clone shimmered away as there was another figure just behind the Saiyan prince.

Finally, Goku teleported right behind him with the blue light in his hand.

"CRAPPP!!!!" yelled the distraught Saiyan as he stood helpless against the attack.

"HAAAAAAA!" launching the final part of his attacking with a yell to proceed, Son Goku had thrown his signature attack right point blank at his opponent.

A blue shaking light surrounded the whole building as debri flew everywhere from the crumbling chamber at this point with the powerful shock of the blast leaving the two warriors blown away.

The dust cleared and there laid Son Goku, hit towards the ground reverted back into his base form, as the godly aura he presented was now gone from him. Vegeta was also in his base form but managed to be flying above the low class warrior finally remaining victorious for the first time in their bout. In the final moments of the explosion Vegeta had sent a final flash in Goku's direction which clashed with the Saiyan's blast but rendered useless against his own form

Vegeta with his torn shirt and a destroyed gravity chamber flew down towards Goku to extend his help to his friend. Reaching his hand out he gave a scoff as he proceeded to question the Saiyan warrior.

"Tell me why you hesitated for a second at the end there Kakarot? After you threw your pathetic beam why did you hesitated for a minute before going full power until I unleashed my final flash against you huh? You know that the minute you cloud your mind in ultra instinct that the technique becomes just like if you fighting in your base form."

"Huh? I'm sorry Vegeta I guess that I let my guard down for a second there. Hahaha." Unfortunately for Goku, Vegeta sensed under that normal smile the kind hearted Saiyan presented, that today there was something different about his smile, an underlining worry that the Saiyan had for the first time.

"The idiot usually not that sloppy but something must be happening with Kakarot today that I don't know about."

"..."

The room went silent between the two as Vegeta crossed his arms again and walked out of the chamber.

"I don't need my rival slacking off on his trainning at all so you better get over over whatever's on your mind. Don't ... f-orge-t to .... ask me for help. *HMPH*" Vegeta grunted as he just left the chamber quickly. Goku just gave a genuine smile to Vegeta as he got up still beaten to a pulp by his rival back to his house.

Flying back to his humble little cottage place Goku had just remembered the beating he got from Bulma for destroying the chamber room once again.

"*Giggle* Sorry about this Bulma, but you know you're the best." Grasping his hands together the Saiyan was apologising to his long conceived friend who had been on his journey the entire time.

"You better be. It takes a whole week to rebuild the whole chamber when you idiots destroy it" as visible veins appeared on the top of Bulma's face. "*Sigh*. By the way, Vegeta told me there's something on your mind Goku, because it's hard to believe that Vegeta beat you today. Is something wrong today Goku?"

Bulma had concern reeking all over her face and Goku cheerful face just sombred down a little bit before giggling and replying, "No nothing's wrong whatsoever Bulma."

Upon reaching his house there to greet him was his wife, Chi-Chi who had her hair wrapped in a bun as food was set across the table. Eating amongst themselves, Goku was stuffing his face with all the cuisines his partner had prepared for him as Chi-Chi just smiled gleefully at her husband eating next to him.

"So how was training with Vegeta honey? Chi-Chi asked."

"Yeah it was fun, Vegeta super strong after getting training from Lord Beerus, so I have to catch up as soon as possible. *Sigh*"

"What's wrong today Goku?"

"Do you like how I'm away from the earth so much Chi-Chi. Does it ever concern you how I'm never around and always training or fighting some big warrior. Am I selfish for doing that"

"Why are you asking this all of a sudden my dear Goku. You never used to care about sort off stuff Goku. I mean I would try and stop you but you would always go off to the next adventure that you could see and keep aiming higher. I guess that's what I love about you so much.

"Thanks Chi-Chi. I love you alot as well for always putting up with me no matter what. You're too kind to me." Goku stood up as he sensed an energy from a warrior approaching the Son house. There was a knock on a door with silence between the family as a little warrior entered the door yelling, "HI GRANDPA AND GRANDMA HOW ARE YOU GUYS GOING!"

It was Pan, the daughter of Gohan and Videl who had entered the household, Piccolo being a sort of babysitter was standing behind her. "I challenge you to a fight Grandpa."

"Oh my, are you sure about that Pan?" gasped Chi-chi

"Yes I'm sure," yelled Pan raising her fist up. I'll beat you today Grandpa no matter what.

********

One scuffle later Pan was on the floor as Goku had easily hit her across the back and into the ground to be counted as a lost.

"Well that's just how I expected this match to go," whispered Piccolo, standing on the side lines face palmed himself as he saw his own disciple lose the match.

Goku laughed, "Ha ha ha, you've still got a long way to go before you can beat me so keep on training Pan.

"Grandpa why are you so strong. You train too much with Mr Whis and the freaky cat."

"Huh? Do you want me to stop training Pan. I do have some responsibilities on earth I have to follow so I can stay if you really want me too."

"No Grandpa, you are training so you can protect us and the earth and thanks for that, you're the best." A warm glow enveloped Pan as she just smiled at her and her Grandpa cheerfully grinned back in response. "Grandpa I want to challenge you in a race across the earth. Are you down?"

"Of course Pan! Who ever does a lap around the earth once wins. Okay?" With a burst of chi enveloping the two racer, they flew into the distances of the skies.

"I'm not going to even try and follow those too." Piccolo said to himself. "Better go and prepare for the surprise than."

*********

It was night time by the time the two came back from their flying race and the pair descended back at Goku's house where Pan wanted to see her Grandma one more time before going back home.

"I can't wait for you to come inside Grandpa," giggled the little Saiyan warrior whilst her tiny palm were opening the door.

"Huh? Why is that Pan?" questioned a confused Goku. But before he was given a response, a flickering of poppers and screams of cheers brusted out from the day

"HAPPY BRITHDAY GOKU!!!!" All his friends were there to congratulate this Saiyan for the day marked when his Grandpa Gohan had first found him as a boy in a space pod. All of them cheered and words of encouragement and celebration erupted the room as his humble little cottage had over fifty of his friends there.

Goku just stared in awe as he saw every face that was at some point a part of his journey, ranging from his best friend Krillin, to his first ever friend Bulma Briefs and not to mentions his two sons, Goten and Gohan .

"Wow thanks so much guys. I can't believe you all remembered it was my birthday today!"

"Nah no problem at all buddy. LET'S PARTY THAN!!!" Krillin yelled first digging into the food before anyone else could.

The party went just as expected for the martial artist with the usual gimmicks of our heroes spicing up the events of the party. Buu blowing out the candles of the cake and eating all of it before anyone could have a slice. Goku and Vegeta having yet another fight over the portions of who gets what food. Android 18 gambling against all the people at the party for some little chub change.

Not just that but stories were told to little Pan about all the battles to protect the earth. People reminisced about the past of the fights on planet earth and how most of the good guys today were ordinarily adversaries.

After a couple of hours of straight hardcore encoring, the rest of the guest were wiped out by alcohol as they had all competed in a drinking challenge and obviously the birthday man, came out victorious.

Goku face's was red like a tomato as he could barely grasp the jug in his hand full of alcohol. This was a rarity for the scholar Gohan, to see his dad in such a vulnerable state after battling some of the cosmos's strongest warriors. Gohan just sat next to him choosing not to participate in that game and Pan had gone home with Videl because that was probably not something she should have witnessed.

"Have I done enough Gohan?"

"What do you mean dad? Are you too wasted right now?"

"I always feel like because of my selfishness that I've just been a burden on my family and everyone around me. Of course I love fighting more than anything still, but I don't know if that's something I should despise because that has brought so many bad guys to our planet. Even Moro came to earth just because of me. I still remember all those years ago when I neglected your feelings of wanting to become a scholar during the cell games. That was all my fault."

Gohan just saw his dad for the first time express an emotion that he never thought could be a possibility over his happy nature and naïve approach to life.

Regret .

"Dad you've done enough for the earth. I have to admit that you probably haven't been the perfect father for me and I struggled a lot when you passed away for seven years but I don't know if I could have grown up so strong if it wasn't for your constant support and inspiration as the strongest fighter in the universe. Now it's time for you to rest a little bit dad. You don't have to stay down here on earth or do anything. Just do whatever will make you happy."

Gohan saw a quick upwards smirk from his dad before he finally rendered unconscious once and for all.

The morning arose and Goku was in front of his Grandpa's shrine where rested the four star dragon ball. Here his head laid low and his head slumped down, praying with both of his hands clasped together. "Thank you so much for everything as well Grandpa. I've figured out that I will continue to train not just for my own enjoyment but so I can continue to protect the earth in whatever endeavour it faces. I have a duty as well to also train the next generation to continue to protect this planet after my passing and I think I know where that will carries."

Goku looked towards a playing plan and flew to play with his granddaughter.
