I think I like the rain a little bit more

"Is this a joke?" the man behind the counter scoffed an dlooked dumbfounded while looking at the person in front of him

'The only joke here is that I'm alive'

"No sir I'm not joking." those words of the stranger made the man now annoyed and in disbelief

the old men looked up and down at the paper and at this strange person with a frown of frustration.

His eyes judgingly scanning that person.

Their clothes proved that they weren't from this country, and the gas mask on their face made the man feel odd. By their high the man could safely say they really were a teen like on the paper in his hands. The teens hair was light green and up to their shoulders despite that he couldn't tell if the child in front of him was a female or male. Even the backpack on their back that had a crossbow and arrows peeking out looks off to the man for some reason.

And although the teen had polite words and posture the man almost felt as if he didn't want to ever cross paths with this child ever again.

His eyes slowly glancing at the paper once again to be sure he read right.

'name: Micah Amana

age: 15

artifact:-

gender:-

... ' the old man continued to read the application paper of this child in his mind in disbelief.

'That oldie is really taking his time huh...' the teen with whose name was now Micah sighed in annoyance internally

"You have to fill these two. " the man said with a deep sigh and showed the paper to the supposed Micah now

His fingers were pointing to the two things that seemed to be skipped purposely

*artifact:-

gender:-*

Micah stood still without peeping a word for 5 seconds before looking up at the old man

"But they are filled out." the teen insisted with that polite tone still in place

"So you're saying you don't have an artifact?" the man said dumbfounded as if this teen was telling a joke

"That's how it is." Micah said truthfully and sighed

'What was an artifact again? Should I ask him? He's old so he probably should have the knowledge... well at least I hope'

With that thought in mind Micah looked at the old man a bit hesitantly before speaking once again

"Can I ask the meaning of an artifact?"

"Are you serious?" he looked even more dumbfounded

"I forgot" Micahs voice was still polite and the way those words were being said it sounded like the teen asked what the time is

The old man looked at the teen for 5 seconds, dumbfounded and confused.

however the deep sigh that came out of his mouth made Micah slightly relieved but a bit annoyed as well

"Artifact is an artificially created object by the gods of the holy ones. There are championships to get your hands on one of them which are extremely difficult and if you're applying for a place in the 3rd department you have to have one or you won't survive" the man explained while his eyes were judgingly looking at Micah

the teen thanked the old man and looked at the door near him

"Is that where the application test starts?"

'What a stupid cocky kid to think that they are strong enough to survive in that department! Did they lost their head!?' the man behind the counter was dumbfounded and even frustrated but he kept his thoughts to himself.

Then a small smug smirk appeared on his face at the thought of the supposedly cocky kid not making it in the second phase

'asshole' and the thoughts of Micah weren't nice as well since it was quite obvious to Micah what this old man was thinking

"Yes.Welcome to the institut" the old man answered and opened the door for Micah

"Thank you very much have a nice day" Micah thanked the old man and walked through the door

"tch" the old man was seemingly irritated that this cocky kid was being offensive by being so polite

_____

When Micah went through the door the teens eyes the first thing that was obvious was the multiple chairs and tables, not to mention the people in them

Another obvious thing was that they were all reading the same thing judging by the same numbers of papers in their hands and their expression. When Micah looked a bit more it was more clear that those expressions were complicated and unsure while some were a bit more determined. There seemed to be only adults, old and young, women and men yet still adults but that didn't even seem to matter to Micah.

Then did Micah notice a few free chairs with stock of papers in front of them on the table.

The room was quiet and the air was tense.

That's why Micahs footsteps seemed loud and out of place because of that some people glanced at the sudden footsteps that kept them from concentrating slightly irritated but then quickly brushing it off and continuing reading the papers
