Moving In

For the two years that Samuel and I have been dating, I have been dreaming of attending Rycon college. IT has been my number one since I started the search. Rycon was the only school I applied to and thankfully I had gotten in. Not only was I accepted but I received one of the private schools top scholarships. Rycon is probably one of the smallest colleges I had ever heard of with only seven hundred kids. With only two visits I treated Rycon like my home. A place I was ready to spend the next four years of my life at.

"You girls better behave yourselves, don't go out partying and meeting boys" These were basically the departing words of my roommate Bri and my parents. Followed by sobbing, "I love you's", and kicking them out of our dorm and locking the door. As soon as they were out of sight I climbed up to my loft and practically collapsed.

"So this is what sadness feels like" I looked over the edge of my loft to see my roommate holding a picture of her dog. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Sandra I swear you better not be laughing at me. You are the one with his sweaters, spray, and an electric picture frame that plays a slide show of pictures of you with your boyfriend." Bri looked at me we a sad face.

"I know it's a lot but at least I'm not crying over his photos like you are. I mean we have to be strong for our boys whether they have two legs or four" I looked down at her and saw her smiling.

"Yeah you're right Jp wouldn't want to see me cry like this. Hes probably having the time of his life with my mom overfeeding him treats." Bri got up and put the photo on her desk. "I want to make friends if we just sit in here all day we are probably going to end up being losers as everyone else will be best friends." As comfortable as I was in my new bed, she had a point.

"But who and how are we going to meet new people?"

"We should start by meeting the people in the room closest to us. The room across the hall. Did you happen to look at the name tags and look at the names of our neighbors?" Bri started to pull on her shoes as I climbed down from my bed.

"No I didn't I was preoccupied with all the moving of boxes that we still have yet to unpack to even bother looking."

"Well why don't we go over there and introduce ourselves, we can see if they want to go to the commons and get dinner with us so we aren't alone." Bri opened our door and held it open as an invitation for me to leave the room.

"Alright, I guess there's no harm in that, besides they are probably just as lonely as we are." I grab my shoes and my lanyard with my id and head out the door to meet our new neighbors.
