17 Chapter 17

With floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with Editions Publishing house titles on either side of him, McKenzie Barrett sat behind his desk of polished mahogany. His desk chair came in soft russet leather while his seating arrangements for guests offered smooth brocade upholstery, olive green for the divan, and a sienna brown print for the duo of wing-back chairs. The side tables, plus a credenza and bar cart, matched his desk in color and style. On the textured, taupe wall above the credenza, his framed diplomas announced his credentials: a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Boston University and a Master's of Business Administration from Harvard University, plus several awards of merit received from the publishing community.
