13 Chapter 13

In the elevator on his way up to Regine's apartment, he rehearsed what he would say to her. Mac would tell Regine she could do much better. He had too many flaws, too many vices. He snored like a grizzly bear. He never replaced the cap on the toothpaste and he always left the toilet seat up.

What else, what else? He scrolled through his memory as he jogged down the hall and then arrived at Regine's door. "I always hog the covers at night," he said out loud as he rang the doorbell. "I'm a cover thief, leaving you cold and shivering. And I don't like to cuddle either."

As soon as she opened the door, Mac breezed in and began his speech. "I'm no good, Regine, no good for you! By tonight, you'll regret having married me because I'm such a slob and I snore and I burp after I drink beer. And I like to drink beer and eat takeout pizza and Chinese right out of the carton. Not that hate cuisine you like to eat at restaurants."
