I was ready to start running the second I was back but...

'Huh...?'

The previously busy district was now completely deserted.

Not a single soul or 'thing' was in site and judging by the messy road and shops, people probably evacuated the moment they exited the mist.

It was currently the middle of the night and the eerie darkness only added to my agitation.

My thoughts were out of control as I just stood there, silently, listening to the slightest of sounds and thoroughly observing my surroundings, before sighing a breath of relief.

For the moment I was safe.

I quickly made a decision and stealthily made my way to the nearest convenience store, which was thankfully not locked, and after ensuring no one was inside I blocked off every possible entrance.

The light were still on, but the store was a complete mess.

Almost all the food and general necessities were gone with random goods scattered all over the place.

I found myself some bottled water and chose a spot near a small desk to sit down.

I was still on edge, but I had to gather some information first, before I could decide what my next move was.

I whipped out my smart phone and began going through social media and the latest news reports.

Thankfully my service was still working and I was able to gather some general information with ease.

To sum it up in a few words: A lot of people had died, infected were much stronger and different than anyone expected, and on the government's order all 'Users' were supposed to gather at Hillstone City.

Yellowbell was a small city located on the far South end of a relatively large island.

This island known as Organ Island was a long distance away from any other land masses, but it could be considered a really small continent because of its size and high population density.

One of it's most prominent cities was Hillstone, located completely on the opposite side of Yellowbell.

It would have taken me weeks to get there, assuming that I survived the journey.

I also didn't like the idea of so many people with mysterious powers gathering in one place.

I decided to ignore the order and after failing to gather any useful information about the infected, I got up and started rummaging around the messy store.

Stuffing anything useful in a large duffle bag I found on the ground, I cleared out the whole place in a few minutes.

I was honestly pretty calm now, maybe because I liked how no one was around me.

For most people being alone would be considered sad or pitiful, but I had a different opinion. I felt peaceful and comfortable when I was left alone.

Anyway, I somehow got a hold of a mop and with some trouble made it into a makeshift spear, with the help of my pocket knife.

'Not that I know how to use a spear... well at least it gives me some confidence...'

Ensuring that I had not missed anything, I picked up the half full duffle bag in one hand and the spear in other, as I silently unlocked the front door hoping to leave.

For the moment I had two main goals. First I wanted to go back to my house to retrieve some 'stuff' and second I had to fight.

I wasn't sure if Aurora was serious when she told me to 'kill' but I didn't know what else I could do so I decided to listen to her advice.

I was about to take my first step into the now hellish world when I heard something from above me.

My blood froze.

Cold sweat covered my back as adrenaline rushed to every part of my body.

I gripped the spear in my hand tighter than ever and with a deep breath I looked up at the store's ceiling to meet the inevitable.

But nothing was there.

'... damn iam too paranoid!'

Regaining my composure I turned my vision to the road ahead of me... only to be met by a tall man in ripped clothes looking down onto me. He had snow white skin and abnormally long arms with long black fingernails.

'Wait... that's... shit!!!'

The 'man' had no eyes, mouth, or nose, giving it a terrifying appearance.

I tried to run away but a strong force to my stomach sent me flying back into the store.

I took a few minutes coughing and groaning in pain on the ground before a black screen popped up right infront of me.

'Damn with a single kick... more that a quarter of my health is gone...'

I was petrified.

I knew I was now cornered.

Alll the exits except for the one that the 'thing' was standing at were blocked off.

I had to do something or else I was going to die.

My body was trembling as I forced my self up with the help of the spear that was still in my hand.

The 'thing' then swayed its long arms as it moved towards me. If it had a face it would've surely been smiling at that moment.

It stopped right infront of me and did nothing... as if daring me to fight.

The no faced monster was really intimidating but I wasn't planning on dying anytime soon.

Drunk on adrenaline and with wobbly arms I held the makeshift spear with both hands in a defensive stance.

With a look full of mockery the 'supposed' infected moved its right arm towards me.

Just before it could attack I quickly ducked and thrustted the spear upwards into its neck. Black blood sprayed everywhere as the infected slowly fell to the ground.

It would've been impossible for me to do such a thing if it wasn't for 'Coward's Sense'.

The skill kicked in at just the right time and somehow I knew the monster was about to stab me straight into my face with its long nails.

I knew I wasn't going to get a second chance so in the short span of 3 seconds I decided to take a gamble and hit the infected in its blind spot.

The thing probably didn't even expect me to fight back, which mainly caused its defeat.

The infected was still alive as it surprisingly rolled around on the floor in agony.

I quickly took out my pocket knife and mindlessly stabbed the damn thing untill the knife broke.
