17 Aftermath

The white humanoid looked towards the perfectly cut corpse of the Dragon. He stabbed the flaming sword onto the ground in front of him and kept his hands resting on the handle of it.

The white flames receded from the body of the humanoid and coalesced into a white orb, half of which promptly entered his heart and disappeared, while the other half morphed into a white ring, similar to a halo and fixed itself a few inches from the back of his head.

Byeol's body was visible after the flames receded, but his wings were still on fire and they didn't show any sign of stopping.

His eyes returned from the burning red to the normal golden. The five other Hunters appeared in front of him.

Byeol immediately lifted his sword up and pointed it towards them. He declared in a threatening voice, "Who the fuck are you people? Why are you all here?"

The five Hunters walked back a little in surprise but quickly recomposed themselves.

"We are the Rulers. And we are working towards the preservation of mankind. If you want to know more about us, ask your father."

"What the fuck have you all done to my father?!" He shouted while almost killing Liu Zhigang.

"He now has the Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light in his soul. He will be able to answer you properly. But the question is-" suddenly the atmosphere surrounding the five changed. If looks could kill, then Byeol must have died a hundred times within a second.

"-Are you on the humanities side?"

The Rulers asked him. At first when they heard about a Hunter gaining wings, they didn't think much about it because mutations due to mana are a common occurrence in many organisms. But after seeing how this human had enough strength to kill the Higher Beings if they were present on Earth themselves, they decided not to take any chances.

"It doesn't matter! I can be on any side I wish… to… be…" Byeol suddenly started feeling dizzy. His vision blurred out and his speech turned slurry. He immediately dismissed his sword and fell down on the ground.

The five humans possessed by Rulers looked down on Byeo's unconscious body. They started contemplating if killing him would be beneficial or not.

Suddenly a white ethereal figure appeared behind them. It was a fragment of the spiritual body of the Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light. He decided to send a part of his soul here to talk with the other Rulers.

The five immediately kneeled down. The Brightest then asked them to stand up and said, "Let him live."

"But!-"

"It's okay. I feel it would be a beneficial decision for us in the long run. Also, even if you wanted to kill him you would be unable to do so." Saying this the Brightest twitched one of its wings, making a feather shoot towards the unconscious body of Byeol. But when the feather was just a few inches away from his body, it vaporised.

The five became surprised, as they felt the small feather which was actually a small part of the Brightest's soul disappear from existence. The ability to kill souls even when unconscious is nothing to scoff at.

"He is undergoing an evolution right now. Leave him alone. I don't think he would allow anyone other than normal humans to touch him right now. Also, I don't think your host's bodies can hold on any longer. We have already made a mistake in sending such a large horde of dragons when the world is just adjusting itself to the introduction of mana. Let us not make a second mistake and kill off the defenders of this planet."

Saying this the soul fragment disappeared into small light particles which started heading back towards the main soul.

The Rulers looked towards each other and nodded their heads. As if their strings were cut, all five of them fell down on the ground completely unconscious.

*Zwoom zwoom*

The sounds of the blades of a helicopter were heard coming for them.

Byeol woke up and saw himself back in the forest where he had first been when he had awakened. Without hesitation, he walked towards the gate and stepped through it.

He saw a clear difference in his surroundings from last time. Instead of just two trees of humongous proportions, now there were more than a hundred trees of two types.

In the centre of all this, was a sword embedded on the ground. Unlike last time, the sword seemed to continuously burn in a deep red flame.

He gripped the handle of the sword tightly. Feeling something behind him, he immediately turned around and saw a humongous entity. The entity looked to be entirely made out of flames with 100 wings on its back.

A few of the wings turned into small wisps of flame which shot towards Byeol. Unable to dodge the wisps, they entered his body and seeped through his body.

He felt his entire body being rejuvenated by the flames. He felt as if he could do anything with such power, but he seems to know that getting overconfident is an easy way to perish.

After a few seconds, the feeling of getting rejuvenated went away, but he felt that the immense amount of power still remained in his body.

He looked up towards the giant humanoid and asked, "Who... Are you?"

The giant humanoid looked down on him and kept quiet. Byeol thought that it wasn't going to answer him when a voice speaked in his mind.

"Now is not the time. You will know about it when you are ready."
