37 Chapter 35- Meeting the mother!

A/N: - I have been studying Gojo's infinity through different sources yet I haven't come to a definite explanation. I would stick to what I believe to be reasonable and please comment here if you are confident in the theory of 'Infinity'.

Choi Jong-In, the master of the Hunters Guild and the strongest Mage-type hunter in Korea, does contain a considerable amount of pride in his guild. More so when the vice guild master was herself an S-rank and unofficially the strongest hunter of Korea as well.

When such an entity arrived at the evaluation center to see the reason for the unusual chaos, he assumed to see something notable. And his expectations didn't go to waste.

Choi Jong-In was thoroughly surprised upon witnessing the two particular individuals.

Basically, these two didn't get their rank evaluated for some obvious reasons but Choi Jong-In didn't need any detector or machine to conclude that these two entities were the next S-ranker of the nations.

The taller one was overflowing with magical essence and also the way he carried himself gave not a single speck of his presence at all. The flame mage felt like he was watching a shadow walking in daylight.

As for the younger one, then the sole guild master in this whole place felt slightly astonished upon attempting to assess the glass-wearing teenager.

'How can someone control their mana to that extent...?' Choi Jong-In have never seen someone suppressing their energy to the point where it began to seem that this guy was non-awakened.

However, Choi Jong-In didn't have to look twice to determine what kind of power that boy was hiding. Such immense and vast reserve made the man nearly sweat at the sight but he held himself comfortably and proceeded toward the two.

Naturally, when the man with the title 'The ultimate soldier' was here, no other recruiter tried to come in between. In the first place, when people come to know how these two were the potential S-rankers those who come to appoint small hunters didn't even think of approaching Haru and Jin-Woo.

"Excuse me, I am Choi Jong-In. I am a representative of the Hunters Guild. If both of you gentlemen have some time then I would like to discuss some matters with you."

"I am sorry but I decline."

"Same."

The bespectacled hunter's face was ashen upon hearing the quick and short responses of the two before they walked past him.

"Chief Jinchul...I did introduce myself, right?"

The orange-haired young man beside him sighed in response, "Yes you did. But they seemed entirely uninterested in the subject."

[Haru's POV:]

As I expected, they asked us to come again three days later so they could arrange a better detector and issue my hunter license as well.

Initially, I thought that meeting an S-rank like Choi Jong-In would provide a refreshing and maybe thrilling sensation. However, I have been involved with many strong people recently like the one currently beside me, to feel anything from that mage.

I am not belittling him since gaining the reputation as the best mage in the nation was a big deal but it's just he didn't feel that intimidating as much as I expected him to be.

'Maybe Thomas Andre proves to be a little challenging...?"

"Do you want me to drop you somewhere?"

Sunbae asked as we moved toward the parking lot.

"That reminds me, Sunbae. Why do you drive that family car when you still haven't married yet? I mean, you must have tons of millions lying in your account and also since you are going to be a S-rank, isn't it suitable for you to pick a somewhat fancy car?"

I had no idea whether this man was deliberately trying to make himself look boring or he just doesn't care about such stuff, since his car seriously needs an upgrade.

I am glad that Cha Hae-In fell for him or the way Sunbae generally tends to be, he wouldn't have found himself a single girl and might have gone bachelor until his mother would have forced an arranged marriage on him.

"You think? Hmm...I actually never considered changing cars. In the first place, would it make any difference?"

"Nope, nothing. Don't worry, you will get yourself someone who would change your life soon."

There were no details about the two protagonists' love life in the manhwa so I am unaware of what kind of romance would snubae have or what kind of girl Cha Hae-In is, when she doesn't holds a blade. Well, not like it's my deal to stress about more than this.

"See you soon, Sunbae. "

With that, I clasped my hand and disappeared from my spot. All hail teleportation.

"Ah, Haru...you startled me. "

Jinah exclaimed with her left hand over her chest. Alright, that's too much fanservice right there. Do I have to pay for this?

"Have you eaten breakfast? I wanted to bring something but considering the place, I didn't."

Well, a hospital is not an ideal place to slurp on ramen so I held myself back.

"It's good that you know the etiquette. Now come, I will introduce you to my mom. "

Jinah held my hand before pulling me behind the curtains where lay the person whom Jinah adores the most.

Due to her intolerance toward mana, she fell into eternal slumber four years ago, which naturally made sunbae responsible for his family. It's no easy task running a family and taking care of a younger sibling even though Jinah is a brilliant and considerate child.

I did try using Reverse Cursed Technique on the lady but it didn't work since in the first place she wasn't injured or suffering from any negative phenomenon. So no helping there.

"Mom, meet Haru. Nanase Haruka. He's a very good friend of mine and someone I care for. I am sure you will like him very much. "

"And Haru, this is my mom, Park Kyung-Hye. Someone I love spending my time with and the person whom I love the most. "

It's adorable at the same time disheartening to see how Jinah still behaves as her mother hears her every word. The way Jinah holds back her tears whenever she is around her mother makes me want to hug and comfort the girl.

Even right now, she was so delighted to introduce us both that it seemed she was nearly expecting her mother to wake up and greet me.

With a smile, I held Jinah's hand before I spoke to the lady on the bed," Hello, Auntie. It's the first time I am meeting you yet I haven't brought any flowers so, sorry about that. I have heard about you from Jinah a lot. And from what I have heard I hope that after you wake up, which I am positive to happen very soon, we would get along. After all, you and I both have someone whom we don't want to see sad. "

I knew sunbae would acquire the Holy Water of Life soon, so my words did hold credibility. And it was true as well that I want to be liked by Jinah's family so my girl doesn't get divided between us.

"Ah... "Suddenly I felt some weight on my shoulder before I turned to see Jinah leaning herself on me with her head resting on my shoulder.

The tears her eyes contained, held a mixture of sorrow and elation. There was a smile on her face yet she looked so sad that I couldn't help embracing her.

"T-thank you, H-Haru*sniff*...I can't... I can't tell you how glad I am that I brought you here today...thank you... "

I just gently rubbed her back without replying. Trying to soothe her uneasiness.

Now I think about it I was rather fortunate that despite being adoptive parents in my previous life, they actually were there for me at times. However, Jinah and sunbae were basically orphaned at the times when they required their family the most.

It was no one's fault yet siblings paid the price for it, in the end.

'Somehow...I feel like calling mom... '

A/N: - I would not mention it in the chapter so here's a little information of behind the scene.

Jin-Woo was also coming to see his mother after the evaluation but the moment he heard what was going inside blended with the sobs of his sister, he chose to remain outside for the time.

Previously it was fine but right now Jinah needs support which no one other than Haru can provide.

In the end, Jin-Woo remained outside for half an hour before walking inside and receiving a nod and a happy smile of gratitude from Haru.

'This guy...sometimes it really seems that he has two personalities... '
