12 Training Aela

-BREAKING NEWS-

"Good evening, America! We have brought to you this evening breaking news!" said the news anchor.

"Kara White, daughter of Thomas Andre the Guild Master of the Scavenger Guild, has created a working health potion!" the anchor said with a serious and wild expression on his face.

"Many scientists and doctors are calling for a share in research; in the name of academic values. Some say she should share the process with humanity to better our future!"

The news station then shows various interviews with scientists and medical practitioners' reactions to Kara's creation; suffice to say, all of them had greed in their eyes.

Some even called Kara being selfish for keeping such secrets away from humanity. Kara, watching this, was laughing.

'For the betterment of humanity? Can't these old farts think of something original?' Kara thought.

"However, the most surprising thing that happened is the creator not filing a patent! Such confidence there, little lady!" even the news anchor was throwing jabs.

"Hah, I can smell the lies from the television," Kara said before turning the T.V. off.

Kara went to her lab to plan and create her automatic delivery system, theoretically easy but practically hard.

She would install a transfer rune inside of the finished product's container, and that rune would link to every sold container.

You see, Kara will only deliver an empty container to the guilds. So, whenever they run out of health potions, they only need to press a button.

Once pressed, the transfer rune of Kara's vat will connect to the guild's rune.

It would alert Kara on who needs a refill, in which it would transfer health potions inside of the container.

Basically, transferring liquids.

They need a container built by Kara.

No transportation cost!

As the manner of payment, each press of a button will cost them an entire container. So, better be careful not to spam.

It will keep each press of a button track on a board, meaning each guild will have its recording.

"Sigh! I will improve this automated system in the future; for now, it's doable since there aren't many guilds I'm selling to at this moment," Kara said after reviewing her plan once again.

'Maybe I should build worker bots? UGH! So many things to do! I'm only NINE...physically,' she grumbled mentally before getting to work.

[Some months Passed...Secret Laboratory in the U.S.A]

"Well? How goes the research? We have been funded and sponsored by numerous people; we have to give results!" a man frustratingly shouted at his subordinates.

He was the head researcher of this project since the start but has come up with nothing substantial.

The only thing they know is that it has magical energy infused into it, "magically" heals people, and the energy dissipates within three days once taken out of the container.

Within those months, they also painstakingly tried finding faults within the potion but couldn't.

The funny and dumbest thing to date was using electronic equipment to find the secrets of something magically made.

Sure, you can check it out, but only with a magical device can someone see any residue of magic.

In short, the humans were too prideful about their electronics.

In truth, Kara already hinted to the world what they need, and that is magical research. Yet, they continue to use microscopes, truly funny.

"But, Sir, with the equipment we have currently, we can't even learn the inner workings of it. With all our tests, we could only find the lengths to how well the potion worked." A sleepless scientist replied.

"What do you think about getting the girl here? Surely we could forc-BANG!" before the idiot could even finish his sentence, a bullet went through his heart and killed him.

"If any of you spout any dumb ideas like him again, a bullet is your answer," the head researcher threatened, to which the rest nodded nervously.

A spring of kidnapping attempts happened on Kara's family, but all of them failed terribly.

The attempts stopped when Kara finally had enough of it.

What did she do? Simple!

Every politician involved had their house eviscerated to the ground, including the White House.

The spell used was like a disco ball that shines a light, except the lights were lasers cutting through the houses.

Coincidentally, none of them died but lost a few limbs, sadly.

Therefore, the next following day, they decided to conduct experiments solely on research. So, if anyone suggests anything related to kidnapping, they are quickly killed off.

The head researcher could only shake his head in irritation; people were hounding his ass constantly.

"God, help me..." he muttered, not knowing that his God is already dead.

[Two Years Later]

*Crack!*

*SHATTER!*

"Aela, you have to evenly spread your mana, or else, the weaker areas will crack easy," a girl with platinum blond hair advised while she was blitzing around with her wings.

The girl was Kara, training Aela in her usage of magic. Barrier magic to be specific.

Aela became interested in the application of Barrier Magic after she stumbled upon it in her sister's library.

In the book, it stated that at the level of perfect mastery, the caster can manipulate anything inside of their barriers.

This was enough for a young child to get hooked; Aela was no different. Sadly, the book never mentioned the harsh realities of learning barrier magic.

It was probably some magic propaganda to boost barrier magicians, well; it worked!

The one who kept slapping reality onto Aela was Kara, who was intensively analyzing weak points within Aela's magic.

Creating a barrier is easy, but creating an effective one is difficult.

"Big Sis! You're flying too fast to even track!" Aela grumbled in annoyance. Even with her body strengthened with mana, she could only see blurs.

Kara hearing this smirked; she wanted to show her sister the weakness of barrier magic, and that was speed.

Barrier magic may be strong with blocking attacks and controlling the inside of it, but it can't trap something that is too fast for the caster.

Thought, reaction speed, formation of barrier, and some other minor things affect barrier magic.

Overall, this adds up which slows the magic altogether; that is why speed is a weakness for it.

Of course, there are ways to combat such weakness, and that is through creativity and mastery.

"Try thinking out of the box, Aela. What happens when there are a lot of cars on the road?" Kara hinted playfully.

'A lot of cars? They slow down, right? OH!' Aela finally got the hint of her big sister, and immediately created mini 2-D barriers around the area.

However, she didn't allow it to remain idle. She moved the surrounding barriers at high speeds, akin to a tornado.

Her magical energy was ruby red, identical to her eyes.

Sadly, Aela had to close her eyes in concentration and even stopped sensing her surroundings.

Aela wasn't like Kara who had the mental processing power that would make a quantum computer jealous, was still just an awakened human.

*Flick~!*

Kara playfully flicked Aela's forehead with two fingers.

"Ow!" Aela said and was abruptly disturbed from continuing her spells.

"Don't stop sensing your surroundings, you'll never know what hit you" Kara reminded. Sensing your surroundings was one of the first things that Kara taught her.

And she made Aela sense her surroundings to where it's breathing, although, whenever using a heavily loaded spell, she shifts attention... which is a no-no for Kara.

"Understood, big sis. Anyway, how was my barrier?" Aela asked curiously, her sister's advice was always great to adhere to.

"Too simple, in my opinion," she said and this time showed a projection of a domed barrier, formed by triangles.

"Do you see this barrier?" to which Aela nodded, "It's made up of multiple small barriers. When one breaks, it's the only one that breaks." she showed a piece of the barrier being broken, creating an opening.

Aela seeing this was even more confused, "Doesn't this make it weaker?" she asked but was only halted by Kara to let her finish.

"Usually, when a crack appears on an ordinary barrier that is formed by one entire 3-D shape, you would send mana to repair it, yes?" Aela simply nodded since it was the basics.

"But repairing is simply not injecting mana, repairing is to allocate the mana onto the cracks which would fix once again.

However, that takes too long, so most people would end up strengthening what isn't cracked. And once a barrier is cracked, it gets weaker and weaker till it shatters.

But with the use of multiple small barriers to create one massive one, you can easily replace a cracked shape and fill in the mana to recreate it. You can easily remove broken pieces and slap in a new one.

It is easier to replace a smaller piece than to fix an entire barrier altogether."

With Kara's explanation, Aela was stunned and agreed wholeheartedly.

Whenever her shield cracked, she would always try to mend it. But with her sister's constant attacks, she couldn't really repair them speedily.

"But Sister, you can't remove a piece when you're being blasted by a concentrated beam!" Aela reasoned, imagining that an attack would slip in if she were to replace a piece of the barrier.

*Bonk!*

"Ow! I'll become stupid with all the bonking!" Aela said with a bullied face.

"I can always heal you to perfection. Anyway, who said you can't spin your barrier and must not move?

If you spin your barrier, you can instantly focus the strain away. And if you revolve it fast enough, you'd be able to deflect the attack instead of taking it through brute force.

It's evident you're not reading the theoretical knowledge that I referenced to you!"

"Ugh! Those books are so thick! Can't you create magic like those cultivation novels where they implant knowledge onto little tablets!?" she argued, but would be disappointed by the answer.

"Ew! Imagine a library filled with tablets! It's aesthetically unpleasing!" Kara said with a disgusted expression; she could do what her sister said but doesn't want to.

"Plus, having a thick book's knowledge suddenly ram you in the brain is a painful experience. And a child's brain no less," she added.

"What!? So you could actually do it! Are you an oldie to make me do it the long way!?" Aela didn't know but, she struck a nerve on Kara.

Aela who heard the reason for pain didn't believe it, and she was confident of her awakened powers too.

*Tick Marks*

"So you want to experience it then? Very well, give me the book that you were reading," Kara said with a smile. 'Oldie my ass!'

"Yay!" Aela happily skipped, thinking she one-upped her sister.

[Moments later]

"Owwwwwww...*sniff*...hic" a blonde-haired little girl cried and clutched her head in pain, it felt like a never-ending brain freeze.

Kara, on the other hand, was feeling guilty; she had a weak spot for her sister and didn't like the sight of her crying.

'Now that I think it of it, couldn't I have created magic to let the information flow through bits and pieces? Anyway.' Kara thought, but shrugged.

"There, there, I told you but you wouldn't listen. Would you like some head pats and ice cream?" she shamefully asked, as if it wasn't her fault.

"Hic...yes, please...sniff"

"Roar~" Fluffy on the side roared softly, clearly showing that he too wants some.

"Haha, sure, big guy," Kara said and simply teleported three pints of ice cream.

'Now that I think about it, shouldn't Kamish's gate be near? Sales of the potion would probably sky rocket~!'
