11 Awakened & Conference

AN: By the way, monster meat can be eaten. During the Red Gate Arc, it was seen that Jin Woo was literally cooking up Ice Bears.

So what I said in the last few chapters of people cannot eat monster meat is somewhat wrong, let's just say unawakened people can't eat them because of the mana within them.

You know, only now did I find out that I have one of the worse naming senses ever.

_______________

[Some days passed...]

[Kara's Laboratory]

Inside the laboratory, one can find Aela quietly laying on the ground. The said ground had carved runes within them, glowing and pulsing with mana.

However, a small magical barrier was also surrounding Aela; the dome had visible magic circles on them, golden yellow, the signature color of Kara's.

Kara wanted to induce an awakening for Aela after she found records of magical awakening in a book.

She also wanted Aela to awaken for her own safety since she didn't want her to catch the "Eternal Slumber"

Eternal Slumber happens when a person is intolerant to mana, and after long exposures to the energy would symptoms of E.S. appear.

Anyway, the book that Kara found was to create a magical core within a person. Maybe a reason why all humanoid creatures found in dungeons have cores.

The procedure was safe; Kara experimented on monkeys, the closest thing to a human.

Now, there are strengthened monkeys roaming around America to who knows where.

Kara allowed them to roam free; if the experiment failed, she has a multitude of ways to perfectly fix and heal them.

The result of the procedure would create a magical core for the person, wherein they could strengthen themselves and further improve.

A cultivation style of awakening.

So, what is the difference between awakened and this?

The awakened people of Earth use their bodies as a vessel for magical energy; therefore, they constantly leak magical energy.

Creating a magical core, however, is to house one's energy. This gives them a better place to house energy; the human body simply isn't the best place.

Kara houses her power within her [Spirit Circuit], a body made for magical energy, and the bonus of a spirit circuit resulted in her emitting close to no aura.

If you were to analyze her, you would think she's the weakest awakened in the world.

And if she were to train up to mastery, no one would suspect her as an awakened or even feel her presence.

Anyway...

"Aela, you ready? If you are, I will inject mana into you now," Kara asked; Kara is using her own mana since it is of better quality compared to what's available.

Aela who was asked, confidently nodded; she was both excited and nervous as well. She may not think of it yet, but she is slightly jealous of everyone having powers.

If this were to continue, Aela might grow to envy those around her. One of the main reasons Kara is awakening her now.

"I'll start."

Acknowledging her sister's confirmation, Kara began pumping her magical energy into the spells, slowly.

Inside the magical barrier-filled spells, rays of magical energy were swirling towards Aela's abdomen. The magical energy was being gathered within her belly, slowly compressed.

"Big sis, i-it's getting slightly hot in my belly," Aela said with a strained face.

Kara quietly nodded and erected a spell onto her belly [Heat Resistance], and almost immediately, Aela was back to normal.

Kara casting another spell to manipulate temperature could fatally affect the results. By supporting Aela's body instead, it does not affect the energy being transferred.

This process went on for an entire hour, along the way, Kara had to cast numerous supporting spells to ease the pain.

But with Kara's intervention, the pain was almost non-existent.

"Aela, it's done, you can use magic just like your bis sis now!" Kara said with joy, now her entire family is awakened.

"Really!? Does that mean I can create spells now?" she asked with excitement. However, when Kara heard this she paled.

"Haha...Aela, you see, you must read the books right behind me," and as Kara said this, thick books started levitating towards Kara's back.

Aela, was speechless and on the verge of crying, "*Sniff*...B-big sis is a *sniff*...bully!" she sniffled.

'Must. Stay. Strong. Must. Stay. Strong. Must. Stay. Strong. MUST. INITIATE. CUDDLE!' Kara was trying to make an unbreakable will, sadly, tears and cuteness were all it took to break the wall.

"No, no, no, don't worry! Big sis will help you, please don't tell mom!" Kara has found joy in creating and experimenting with spells; the only punishment that Laura does is to tell her to do nothing.

Do chores? Nope.

Help around? Nope.

Literally. Nothing.

The only training that Kara does is by creating gravity runes on her body, constantly increasing as she grows.

Thomas tried training her but was too scared to hurt his baby girl. When a Hunter came to train her, Thomas was furious when he tried 'harming' her.

Truly a dilemma.

Anyway.

"*sniff*...y-you pwomis?"

"Y-Yes!" Ack, whenever Aela talks childishly, it's double the effect.

When Aela heard her sister's answer, immediately hugged Kara lovingly. "*sniff* Thank you!"

'Maybe showing all the books at once wasn't such a bright idea, probably traumatized Aela...slightly' Kara thought and hugged the little loli back.

Kara was nearing nine, and Aela just turned seven...clearly a loli. Kara was getting out of loli status already.

When Laura and Thomas came home from work, they were shocked to find out that there was magical energy present within Aela.

Kara then proceeded to tell her parents about how Aela awakened with her help. She also had to explain that everything was perfectly safe and a mishap would almost be impossible.

Kara's assurance was that there were numerous reference materials of how civilizations from different worlds awakened themselves.

And after many reads, Kara effectively made a better procedure overall from the amount of text and experiment she went through.

When the topic of her potions came up, Kara stated her plans to sell it to the guilds of America first and made no plans to sell it to individuals.

Selling it to individuals would be a pain, and almost 90% of the time, solo Hunters are low-ranked Hunters.

Kara intends to sell her potions in the quantities of vats and liters, not miny bottled-up potions.

If a guild cannot pay right away, then it'll simply be paid in installments, automatically decreased from their dungeon raids.

She will place the burden of containers onto the guilds, simple enough.

It is to note that once they poured the potion outside of Kara's special container, any medical effects will dissipate within three days.

Mana dissipates naturally, the container holds it in.

Kara did also lower the potency of the potion, didn't want to create a potion that would displace healers.

And was Kara afraid of her creation being copied? Nope, absolutely not.

Magical Technology on Earth in simple terms is backward, best thing created was the usage of mana stones as an energy source, "amazing".

Kara has no doubt that if Earth were to go to war with any other civilization mentioned in the books, Earth is fucked. Emphasis on Fucked.

Technology and magic can work together, but humanity's technology simply doesn't.

It's not compatible.

Anyway, when Thomas heard the entirety of Kara's plan, he approved of it. He too agreed that selling her creation to a guild as a single large container would be more efficient.

Soon, a press conference was called by Thomas himself, this highlighted the seriousness of it.

Whenever a high-ranking Hunter calls a press conference, it usually results in retirement or disbandment. Recruitment isn't done by a press conference, it isn't important enough.

[Press Conference Day]

A lot of news stations, journalists, representatives of guilds, High ranking Hunters, and important people showed up. They, too, were interested in what one of the strongest guilds in America has to say.

Right now, there is a balance between High-Ranked Hunter distribution, since everyone listed down as S-Rank is the same in everyone's eyes.

However, there are still those that stand above the rest, amount of gates closed and the ratio of death per raid is what they look at.

It will only shift once the appearance of the National-Rank title happens.

In the press conference, Thomas and Kara could be seen sitting on center stage. However, Kara was on Thomas's lap since the chairs provided were too small for her.

Quite the cute scene.

When it was time to start, Thomas gave the mic to his daughter since he wasn't as knowledgeable in research compared to Kara.

"Good day, is everyone listening?" when Kara spoke, a majority of the heads turned to find her speaking, only to resume their previous doings.

The reason they didn't bother to turn their heads was that they thought of it as a joke, especially when Thomas was present.

They simply didn't take her seriously. A dangerous move.

"*ahem* Are you people ready to listen?", and yet again no one bother, worse was no one even turned their heads.

Thomas was infuriated but calmed when Kara assured him.

"[Gravity Magic: Equity]" an intricate magic circle encompassed the entire audience and all of a sudden a gravitational force pulled them down.

This magic needed the supplementation of imagination and knowledge, its effect was to bring everyone kneeling down with the amount of force required for those affected.

Meaning, an A-Ranker would face a heavier amount of force compared to an unawakened.

Kara didn't stop there, she also flared her aura at everyone present, much to their shock. Kara, as of now, can beat an A-Rank easy with the arsenal of spells she wields.

S-Rank is still not possible yet because of her physical age, highly limiting. However, she can beat an S-Rank with preparation.

Everyone was forced to their knees except the S-Ranks present, she could force them but circulating too much mana would hurt herself.

"Don't take my appearance as a child at face value. Be glad that my Papa didn't move, he isn't as nice as me," Kara said in a voice empowered with mana.

After she spoke, the spell was immediately canceled, allowing the people to stand.

"Now, is everyone listening?" this time everyone shut themselves up, "If one of you rudely interrupts, you would replace the volunteer for today" Kara threatened.

Thomas advised Kara to using force when speaking doesn't work, and the result showed positive.

"As I was supposed to say, I have created a legitimate health potion, and no, this isn't some ramblings of a child. Before any of yo-"

Before she could even speak, a Hunter flared his aura, to show his dissatisfaction.

"What's your name and guild affiliation?" Kara asked.

"Joe Wallace, S-Rank, Guild Master of Freedom Fighters," he said smugly, a Hunter that remained standing, probably felt proud to resist a spell from a child.

"Very well, whatever I will sell, any guild you join or Master will be blacklisted.

Papa, do you mind making him the volunteer?"

"No, I actually suddenly prefer him, sweetie," Thomas said as he began cracking his knuckles.

[Moments later]

"Here you are, sweetie," Thomas proceeded to handover a battered Hunter over to Kara's side, much to the people's uncomforted looks.

Kara proceeds to show a red liquid inside a vial, "This here is the potion that I created," showing it around before chugging it inside of the man's throat.

Within seconds, a red glow shone over the man and his broken body repaired itself rather quickly. If he lost a limb, it might have taken 20 seconds to regenerate itself.

After the showing happened, everyone was shocked and began standing up asking questions. Photographers began taking pictures and the likes.

However, Kara repeated her show of power once again, instantly calming down the crowd.

"Must you adults be so barbaric? Shameful behavior, do all of you hound and take pictures of children?" Kara joked and called them pedos.

"As I was saying, one question at a time, anyway, I pick you!" Kara said and pointed at a reputable Journalist that her mom told her about.

Kara's mom may not be much of a Hunter, but when it comes to things like information gathering, she's top-notch.

"Were you the one to have created the potion?"

"Yes, I have." Laura also taught Kara to keep answers short and simple; the media likes twisting answers.

"Why are you so confident that it would work on humans?" she was targeting whether Kara experimented on humans illegally.

"I experimented on myself, next person." a total lie, and pointed next to a gentleman who actually listened to her prompts from the start.

"Thank you for calling me. Where did you get the knowledge to create such a thing?" Smart question, Kara mentally thought.

"Papa brought me a potion that came from inside one of the higher-ranked gates, in which I experimented on. And now we have this," Kara's ability to lie with a smile is spectacular.

Thomas hearing his daughter lie her way through even raised an eyebrow,

"Erm, how will you be selling? And is this consumable for unawakened people?"

"I'll be selling to guilds by large containers only; they can pour the contents by themselves. And no, this is unsafe for unawakened people due to the mana present inside.

They will run the risk of acquiring [Eternal Slumber], next person,"

Kara's next person was from The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, they were involved since the press conference was related to business.

"When will you send a patent to our office?" the man asked with a straight face as if it will happen.

By sending a patent, one will send the inner workings of your creation and how it was produced. A patent only protects you if your creation was actually plagiarized, in which case it will just be a hassle.

However, all the man received was a laugh from both Father and Daughter.

"*Giggle*

"PUAHAHAHAHA!"

"I'm sorry, but what's so funny about my question!?" the man asked, humiliated.

"I don't need some dumb patent to protect my creation. Even if there is a patent, people will still copy it, so why need one?

The intricate workings of my potion is the patent itself, only I can reproduce it.

It would take humanity, as a whole, decades of magical research to even come close. And I'm sure, within those decades, I would have made even better ones by now."

Government bodies hearing this didn't pay attention to what Kara said, in their minds, they would be able to recreate confidently.

What does a person need to re-create the potion?

-Knowledge

-Immense knowledge

-Even More Immense knowledge

Humanity simply has no knowledge about magical research, Kara could only do this due to her hack abilities.

"Anyway, I will only sell potions within America, for now. Thank you!"

And with that, the conference ended with a humiliated man.
