9 Preparation

"Are all items that dropped from gates kept in the warehouse?"

"Yes. Everything is kept there except for the ones we put up for auction."

As they continued walking down the hallway in silence, Laura suddenly asked

"Young master, if you don't mind telling me, why do you need the A rank mask? It's slightly wasteful if you use it just to hide your identity. It's a one-time use item after all."

"You'll know when the time comes. Don't worry too much about it, okay?"

"I understand."

With that, silence engulfed the surrounding once again.

"Hey Laura, do you have anyone you like?" Hearing Perseus' question, Laura paused in her steps and looked at Perseus weirdly.

Not wanting Laura to have the wrong idea, Perseus hurriedly added "My dad isn't a bad choice to settle down with y'know? Although he seems harsh on the outside, he's a big softie within."

Still receiving no reply, Perseus wanted to add a few more sentences but Laura turned her back and headed off.

Sighing in resignation, Perseus gave up and continued following her. There was only a chilling silence as he followed Laura. Only the sound of their footsteps was occasionally heard. For both of them, it felt like a long time.

Laura stood at a high-security door. After verifying via iris recognition, fingerprint recognition, and voice, the door opened.

Drrrrrng!

The shiny black door looked to be over a metre thick and made out of some extraordinary material. The floor vibrated just from its opening. It was made of an expensive Gate material called Cold Steel, and was only found in B Rank Gates and above. It deserved to be called a revolution in the architecture world, but the downside was that it was very expensive.

'Just a single ore would allow a person to live the rest of his life free from financial burdens.'

'Not only the door but the entire surrounding area is made of Cold Steel…'

Perseus looked around while containing those thoughts. Cold Steel could only be processed by a special method, and it was almost impossible to penetrate it with modern equipment. These days, it was used to build shelters for the famous and wealthy.

The light turned on as Laura stepped inside. When the lights flickered on, Perseus was shocked. Countless Artefacts from the Gate were arranged neatly by type and rank in front of them like a museum, and were piled all the way to the ceiling. Just to reach the highest shelf, one would need to use a scissor lift. It was truly spectacular.

He wouldn't find a sight like this anywhere else in the world.

After 15 minutes of searching, Perseus finally found the item he was looking for. He picked the mask off the rack and inspected it.

[Name: Mask of Lament]

Type: Accessory-Mask

Rank: A+

Description: The Mask of Lament was created by melding the souls of vengeful wraiths together. It allows the user to change his appearance to that of a blood-thirsty ghoul, and replace the user's aura with that of a ghouls. This is a one-time use item.

Just as Perseus was about to leave the warehouse, another item caught his eye.

The item had a white halo around it, and its body resembled the night sky. Entranced by the beauty of the item, Perseus reached out and picked it up.

[Name: Mimic Tear Ashes]

Type: Consumable

Rank: S-

Description: The Mimic Tear Ashes is only dropped by Demi-God Radahn (S+ Rank) if the enemy is able to defeat him with brute strength. Only those he acknowledges are able to receive this item. The Mimic Tear Ashes spawns an exact copy of the user, except for the fact that it is unable to talk. Despawns after 12 hours. This is a one-time use item.

Although Perseus felt guilty for taking an S Rank item his father fought tooth and nail for, it was the one item he needed to set his plan in motion.

In the end, he dropped his father a text informing that he had taken the item and left for the private lounge in the guild.

Looking out the window and seeing the sun start to set, Perseus found a hidden spot in the guild, activated the Mimics Tears Ashes and sent his doppleganger to the private lounge to 'sleep'. While he sneaked out through the secret exit known only to him and Thomas Andre.
