6 Rank Evaluation

Perseus was now waiting for his turn in the standard luxurious waiting room. It was also the Chairman who set him up with this private waiting room, even going so far as to inviting a masseuse and telling him to rest comfortably before he left with the General.

The event schedule was displayed on the table. The order of the ceremony was written in detail, including the Chairman's greetings, words of blessing from the Colonel General of the U.S Army, the Secretary of Defence, and then other high-ranking figures that also offered congratulatory remarks. Thomas Andre, of course, wasn't present.

After all, Thomas Andre hated interacting with cunning politicians and businessmen the most.

It wouldn't even be strange to describe him as a god. All of those high-ranking officials were stand-outs from all walks of life. They didn't kneel anywhere they went, but now they were just a part of a big crowd.

Knock, knock!

Someone knocked. Perseus nodded, and Laura opened the door. A person came to inform him that it was time for his rank evaluation.

As he moved to the examination room, he noticed high-ranking figures sitting there.

"Mr. Perseus is coming in. All guests, please stand up."

Clap-clap-clap!

When Perseus came in, everyone stood up and clapped. Flashes went off all over the place. It was such an atmosphere that it seemed like his father himself was coming out.

Perseus nodded at the people around and walked towards his seat.

Perseus' seat was prepared separately. It was a very luxurious chair, but it was very uncomfortable to sit on because the chair was made of various expensive jewels. When Perseus sat down, everyone joined him. Laura and his bodyguards quickly moved in to surround him.

Whoever planned this was very strange because it gave off an atmosphere like sitting atop a throne. They must be out of their mind.

'It's boring.'

After an hour of needless talking, Perseus was slowly losing his patience.

It was a pretty boring speech. In summary, it was praise for the Scavenger Guild, praise for Guild Leader Thomas Andre, cringy praise for himself, and how important the role of the American Hunter Association was in protecting the U.S. The chief senator and several other figures came up and congratulated Perseus following that. He hadn't even received the rank evaluation test yet, but they gave him congratulations in advance.

Originally, there was more in the order left, but when Perseus started to grow bored, the quick-witted team immediately cut it off.

"Then we will proceed with the measurement event. We'd like to invite Professor Roland Williams, the world's leading authority in the field of Gates, and his research team."

Roland William, a professor working for the U.S Government, was the world's leading authority in Gates' capability, utilisation, and potential measurement. Not only that, he was a genius doctorate with various degrees. His paper on the correlation and effectiveness of mana and the body, the study on mana transfers, and other outstanding research results, to exaggerate only slightly, helped him build a reputation comparable to Einstein's.

That same professor personally stepped forward and guaranteed that he would never manipulate the results. He even brought with him the world's most accurate measuring instrument, which he recently developed. It was a higher-quality device than the one that measured previous hunters.

"Let me give you a brief description of the device. This device is…"

"To determine the rank of a person, the mana density will change accordingly on the device's screen. 50% = B Rank, 100% = A Rank, and 200% = S Rank"

Roland William's explanation began. The new measuring device was able to clearly differentiate the difference in strength in each rank up till the S rank, and was supposed to be distributed throughout America starting this year. It would also be exported to allied nations such as South Korea and Japan next year. Of course, at a price.

Clap-clap-clap!

When he finished his explanation, everyone clapped. Professor Roland Willaim's explanation was quite long and took another hour. Perseus finally stood up. He wanted to finish it quickly and go home already.

"Then, Mr. Perseus, please come up on stage."

Perseus started heading up to the stage where the device was installed.

Bam-bam-bam-Bam! Bam-bam!

When the trumpets suddenly started, Perseus stopped as it startled him. Everyone stood and clapped. Perseus thought it was becoming somehow more and more extra, but given he had come this far, he couldn't stop now.

The measuring device was about the size of a wardrobe. If you put your hand into the hole in the middle, your potential rank as a hunter would appear on the screen.

When the device started, the floor vibrated with the sound of an engine running. Perseus started getting excited. Kamish's Wrath was within arms reach already.

"This device isn't dangerous at all. Nothing to worry about. Put your hand in here."

"Understood."

When Perseus put his hand inside the device, Professor Roland William put on a weird pair of goggles before glancing at his assistants. The assistants who had a stern look on their faces reached for the switch next to the device. The countdown began with a majestic BGM. It wasn't even a rocket launch, but everyone was watching with bated breath.

'I should probably remodel Kamish's Wrath into a longsword or katana.'

Perseus just sighed. At this point, he just wanted to punch his father in the face. Was all this really necessary?

"3! 2! 1!"

With the countdown concluded, the device patterns emerged on the white surface of the device, and a strong flow of mana could be felt. In the original story, when the main character measured his rank, only the word 'error' could be seen, indicating that he was S Rank or above.

"Ooh!"

The number on the screen attached to the device started going up. Professor Roland William watched with great admiration. Perseus also felt better because it seemed likely to end without any problems.

It was that moment.

"110%, 140% 190% Huh? Huh!? Pro-Professor, the number is…!"

"H-huh! Turn on the spare tank!"

"Yes? I-I understand!"

Things became very tense. Those who were sitting in their seats also felt the unusual situation and stood up from their seats.

Professor Roland and his team seemed very busy. The number continued to rise, and the red light flashed.

"T-the mana density has exceeded 200%! 210%, 230%, it keeps going up! Oh, my God! That's an incredible number!"

"W-we must measure it no matter what! Put it all in!"

"Yes! I-I understand!"

Intense sparks splashed around the device. It was that moment when Laura and his bodyguards were startled by the unusual atmosphere and began to approach.

"Kyaa!"

"Ugh?!"

The screams were heard from Professor Roland and his research team. Someone seemed to have been shocked.

Bzzzzttt! Pang!

With the sound of something exploding, the power went out. There was a moment of silence, and the lights blinked on. The device was still barely working, even though smoke was coming from it.

Looking around, Perseus saw parts of the device strewn across the area.

Laura and the bodyguards came running.

"Are you alright?"

"Huh? I'm fine. You look worse than me."

Everyone had an expression like a bomb had gone off. Professor Roland picked up his broken goggles and looked at the device. The screen was half broken, but the number came out normally. He looked at the screen with a blank look on his face. So did the research team.

"The mana transfer rate is 253%! Is it an error?"

"I-it's not an error. The same number also appeared on the backup device!"

The assistant pulled out another device with the number '253' shown on its screen.

"Oooh! This is a miracle! Hahaha!"

The reporters took a picture of the professor and the research team cheering. For some reason, they were enjoying themselves. Perseus sat awkwardly and took his arm out of the device. Laura blinked as if she couldn't understand the situation. Perseus tilted his head.

"The result is good, right?"

"It seems so… why don't you step back for now?"

They moved away from the device to a safe area. Although there was a commotion, the measurements seemed to be correct.

"Here's the result!"

"Ooh!"

When one of the research team came with a piece of paper, Professor Roland accepted it. Everyone's eyes were focused on the professor. He looked at the paper in disbelief before fixing his broken glasses.

Professor Roland's face was filled with excitement.

"Do you see these numbers? The highest we ever measured was the newest American S rank at 209%. The potential rank was S. Yet…."

"Just tell me the results quickly!"

"C-cough, I understand."

Professor Roland nodded as the Chairman shouted.

"This is the measurement result of Mr. Perseus. His mana density has exceeded 250%, so it cannot be measured, and it far exceeds the currently established standard. Potential rank evaluation. That means it cannot be expressed even with the highest rank of S. So, Mr Perseus is at least a S+ Rank if not even higher at SS Rank. In my name and honour, this result proves that there is not even an inch of manipulation."

A pin drop silence could be heard after his announcement.

Perseus was a little flustered too.

'I thought it was only a little higher than S rank.'

Indeed, up until now, his training had paid off. Apart from that, the dozens of elixirs and other heavenly medicines he consumed while growing up all served to greatly increase his potential. It was above S Rank. In other words, it was impossible to measure.

The reporters quickly opened their laptops and began writing articles. Chief Senator Oliver Brown opened his eyes wide and raised his hands.

"Hahaha! The future of America is so bright! Mr. Perseus is the new hope of America! A tiger father does not beget a dog son indeed!"

"That's right! Hahaha! It couldn't have been more glorious. America's greatest genius is right here! He will be the true hero of America or even the world!"

The Chairman quickly responded to Chief Senator, Oliver Brown's words with a loud shout.

Clap-clap-clap!

As someone started clapping, the hall was filled with applause. Everyone gave a big round of applause to Perseus.

However, on the internet was a different story.

"Wow, look, that handsome guy received a rank above S."

"I love it, I love it. I didn't know anyone could look so cool just by standing."

"That handsome guy seems to be the son of Thomas Andre. I've never seen him before."

"Please let me give birth to your babies!"

"How is he so hot? I feel like I'm in love."

Perseus' head hurt. All he wanted to do now was head back home and collect his dagger.

Anyway, it was a bizarre sight of everyone celebrating except for Perseus himself.

"What a mess."

"I expected it. After all, you showed more than that, Young Master. Let's go to the waiting room first."

"Yeah."

A/N: I hope y'all are satisfied with this chapter. Also this does not mean that he is the strongest in the current world.
