27 27. Testing my Growth

Celestial Key

Rank:???

Type:???

A key that will open the hidden secrets of ????

"What do I need this for?"

I said to myself. The designs of the key didn't looked any normal. Its size was as big as my hands and the pointy parts of the key were very distinctive to look at so I wondered what type of lock it would open on. Either way, I placed it inside my inventory.

"Scar, let's go."

"Where are we going?"

"In a hunting ground."

•••••••

Me and Scar arrived at the next hunting ground. Upon entering the gate, I was met with the window interface.

Ting!

YOU HAVE ENTERED IRENDLE MOUNTAIN RANGE!

Level 25-30 hunting ground

"What are we gonna do here again?" Scar asks.

"We're here to kill all the monsters residing in this grounds and not one must be left, we must also check the entire hunting grounds to activate the hidden boss."

I answered and quickly dashed through the barrier of the hunting ground.

'He's faster than before! No, super fast!'

Scar exclaimed after watching Jin sprint like thunder striking down the ground.

'Okay then, where should I start.'

Seeing how rapidly Jin improved, Scar was pumped up by this and dashed through the opposite direction of where Jin was.

I arrived at a monster's lair. There were hundreds of giant mountain golems resting in their den. From a slight glimpse of them, you can't really tell if they were monsters because they're body was made of stones so they looked like giant boulders piling up in place.

"Let's see how strong I have become."

Firstly, I didn't want to use dainsleif. I wanted to see for myself how strong my own brute strength is to these golems.

Golems were monsters with a very high health pool and thick defense so this was a good test for me. The mountain golems were at the levels of 27 to 30 and it didn't look like they had any boss. Their health gauge was at 50,000 each and I wondered how much damage I could deal using only my fist.

"Hapt!"

Tightly clenching my fist, I pummeled my attack towards a golem's hard and rough surface.

Crack!

A cracking sound resided into the powerful impact of my fist breaking the area of attack into rubbles.

-12,790

"That's a pretty high damage!"

I gleamed in surprise. The health of the golem instantly dropped by 76%. Now that I know how much damage I could deal with my fist, I wanted to see how heavy the damage I could do using Dainsleif.

Ting!

Due to the powerful attack, the target's defense has decreased by 80% and health will slowly drop by 5% every second.

"Wow."

Seeing the window interface popping in front of my eyes, I couldn't help but be in awe. The area of impact of my attack had slowly showed signs of cracks that spread throughout its giant body resulting in its health to slowly drop down to zero.

+100,900 XP

Seeing that I have become absurdly strong, I jumped in elation and continued to my test

by equipping Dainsleif into my right hand. Quickly as I weaved my sword on another golem, the sharp edge of the blade pierced through its thick body.

Swing!

-25,700

The damage I dealt was pretty high compared to using fists, not just that, it was just a basic attack and the feeling of slashing the sword on its hard body was just like slicing a tomato in half.

"Now, let's try using basic skills."

Next, I wanted to try using a normal type of skills.

"[Critical Strike]"

Hooot! Hooot!

Long blackthorns appeared on the edges of the sword. This thorns fired away towards some of the golems in the area of the attack. The thorns pierce itself through the thick defense of the golems that didn't even strike through but flowed out from their bodies which had still blasted itself on its direction of attack.

Seeing this powerful piercing damage, I sliced off the remaining golems, ending their lives as they disappear into dust. Though they didn't drop any items, I was already satisfied with my growth and continue with my "speedrun" process.

I still needed to try out all my other skills and the new ones I had just received but I thought that it would be good to use it against targets that can endure at least a couple of strikes.

•••••••••••

Since Scar was already a permanent party member, he had helped my system map to open the entirety of the hunting grounds faster, saving me more time.

Even though I wouldn't receive any XP from him due to the distance between us, I was already satisfied with my current level and I placed my reserved points into vitality since it was the only attribute that still hasn't reach the 600 points.

In just an hour, we eventually came together and the system interface popped up in my view.

Ting!

For discovering the entirety of Irendle Mountains, you have been rewarded.

Location of the Fire Salamander

"Is this what you were talking about?"

"Yes, now let's go."

I didn't want to further explain to Scar as I had already said it to him a couple of times when we where still walking towards this hunting ground so immediately, we went to the location of the hidden boss.

Arriving at the lair of the Fire Salamander, the salamander was resting on the ground. Its body was mostly red in color but flames didn't spurt out. Maybe this was the case since it was in its resting state making this raid a bit more easier.

Ting!

Fire Salamander

Rank: Hidden Boss

HP: 90,000

The salamander didn't have much health as its specialty was focused on its high damage. This was becoming easier now it could be executed without a sweat to be dropped so Scar wanted to kill it by himself.

"Let me do this."

Scar prepared his sword, Blazing Rapier, and showed a slight grin in his face. He was pretty confident about killing this salamander with one shot but I halted him from doing so.

"No, let me do it."

"Why?"

"I need to try out something first. Don't worry, there are still a lot of monsters out there maybe even stronger and I let you deal with them."

"Arrggh, fine."

Scar sat on a rock pouting. Ever since Scar had died and turned into a soul, his attitude to Jin had definitely changed, though his brashness was still alive and well, his loyalty to Jin had increased by much. This must have been the effect of the necklace that made sure to make the soul abide by its master's order.

Now that Scar was not in the way, I performed the sword dance and activated the skill [Sword Wave].

"[Sword Wave]"

Wooouussh!

'What the fuck is that?'

A giant blue wave surged out from Dainsleif after I slashed it vertically pointing towards the Fire Salamander. Scar was surprised upon seeing the giant blue wave that he dropped down on the rock he was sitting.

The wave crashed out towards its giant body but expecting that it would explode upon impact, the wave only flowed through its body and dispersed right after it reached its area limit.

I was pleased about the damage that I dealt with, so I continued to deal damage with basic attacks and performed the skill again since the cooldown reduction was cut by almost ¾, the cooldown of the skill had dropped by just 4 seconds. This would also help polish my dance to make it more comfortable for me and quicken the triggering of the steps to avoid wasting too much of time.

In just a few minutes, the Salamander died.

When the fire salamander's body disperses into dust, an item dropped into the ground.
