11 11. Gred's Pet

The chances of the [Devour] to successfully be triggered on Bosses were very rare or to put in percentage, it should be 0.01% chances.

Not only had Jin successfully devoured the Arcane Hydra, it was his first attempt on using the skill.

"Lady luck must really like me! Is it because of my looks? No? Or maybe because I recently did the task diligently?"

Confidently speaking, he made a slight grin. The window interface that should've alerted Jin that the hunting ground will be deleted at any moment now didn't appear and the only reason might have been is that the Arcane Hydra hasn't died and is still in the process of dying.

"Let's get out for now."

Jin exited the passageway. Upon arriving back on top a dimensional rift opened up in front of him. It was the size of a door and from what Jin could feel, the mana revolving in the rift was entirely different from outside.

"A portal? I thought these things were also affected by the error? Does this mean that the portals are one with the system?"

He thought about it. At first glance, it looked just like any ordinary portal but when Jin slowly feel the mana it emits, it was very calm yet unerringly concentrated.

"What a very powerful mana! I don't know the rankings of portals but I'm pretty sure this one is above normal! I don't want to enter it but thinking about how much the mana crystals inside! O(≧∇≦)O."

With that blushing expression, he quickly entered the portal without hesitation.

Wwooooossh!

The vibrant wind changed in an instant after entering the dimensional rift. As the bright light blinded his view, slowly opening his eyes, the mossy forest that he once knew had turned into a savanna. Eventually, the portal disappeared.

"So this is another world!"

This was Jin's first time entering an instant Dungeon. Though from his past life, he haven't seen one but he heard plenty of gossips from his fellow hunters.

Portals holds a dungeon with its own natural terrain, monsters and rewards. Unlike hunting grounds, dungeons only contain one boss monster and the rewards after slaying the boss monster is a chest drop. Depending on the difficulty and rank of the boss monster, the chest drop can range from common, bronze, silver, gold and treasure. Though if one wants to open the chest, they must first have a key and to find the key, they must first kill all the monsters living in the dungeon.

"This place has a bit of a large landscape than what I thought of. Oh well, this will be enough for me to wait for the devouring process."

From what he heard, basic dungeons showed tunnel-like structures and every passage shows different challenges; might be traps, crowds of monsters, bonus areas, or the boss lair.

Mana crystals are also the primary factors of a dungeon that a hunter could see, if a dungeon had no mana crystals, it might be a special type of dungeon. Though he haven't heard of a dungeon without mana crystals inside.

"All I see is lots of dirt, grass, some trees, that beautiful horizon and that mist of dust moving towards me. Not even a single mana crystal! Wait! A moving mist of dust?"

As he look closer on the moving clouds of dust. It was not some sandstorm or anything, it was hordes of bull-type monsters galloping towards him in a fast-paced.

"Actual moving monsters! So monsters inside dungeons are not affected by the error?! ヽ(°〇°)ノ"

He gasped in awe, and closely check on the monsters. They were not actually moving towards him because he was a hunter, from behind the hordes, packs of giant lions could be seen pursuing on the bulls.

"This might be a good chance for me to try on the new skills to actual moving monsters."

Jin equipped Dainsleif and readied his attack. From afar, he could see the HP bar of every monsters. The bulls had over 20,000 amount of HP while the lions had 40,000 HP in all that was double the amount of health than the bulls. The one that really stood out was the primate Lion who was in front of the pursuing that had an enormous amount of health with over 100,000 HP.

"I'll try this skill first! [Black Roar]!"

Ghuoooh!!

A loud growl of a tiger echoed from Dainsleif, the sword began to emit a strong vapor of wind rippling from the blade that slowly turned into a black aura that coated the entirety of Dainsleif.

*SFX of a roaring tiger*

Jin slashed his blade in the direction of the galloping bulls and pursuing lions. A black flaming wave that had the length of at least 20 meters and the width of an automobile violently flew towards the hordes of monsters.

From the edge of the waves, green flames could also be seen raging along with the black flames as it moves towards the monsters at a fast rate.

Vhuuoong!

"How absurdly high defense!"

The skill dealt decent damage on the bulls but on the lions, the damage had been decreased by at least 30% but on the primate, it was decreased by 70%.

Jin was not saddened at all, utmost he actually satisfied. He didn't want to become too overpowered that there was no more room for him to grow. He wanted to become stronger by at least doing it fairly.

"[Flash],[Thunder Clap],[Ambush]"

Simultaneously using those skills, his speed was greatly increased by tenfold. He dashed towards the confused bulls like thunder flashing in front of their eyes.

Arriving in a designated bull, he slashed his blade towards its bulging body.

Swing! Dudu!

"Eh?"

He expected the sword to cut the bull in half but due to his lack of training and swordsmanship, the sword only hit the air that eventually crashed down on the ground causing heavy cracks to form due to the powerful attack that was about to happen.

Dug! Dug! Dug!

The rampaging bulls didn't mind the timid hunter who appeared in front of them and continued to flee from the hungry lions. They bashed Jin down banging him on their hard bodies and caused to flew a few meters away from the ground receiving damage from the impact.

"Urgh, goddamnit! Why can't I get a tome of knowledge! This would be easier if I had accumulated one but why is it hard for me to get one? Have you God already found out about this error but you didn't mind it and just watch me suffer? You piece of shit!"

He threw tantrums on the ground as he suffer to go back up from his ass. He removed the dirt on his body pouting in regret knowing that he wouldn't be able to easily kill these monsters.

"Hm? Why is it quite all of a sudden?"

He looked at the surroundings and he could see the bulls from afar standing still while staring at him. He didn't understand what was happening until he gaze into his back.

"D-don't tell me?"

Grrr..

The menacing growl of the lions resonate from his behind giving chills down his spine. Sweat began to drip down his forehead slowly warming himself with Dainsleif.

Though he already defied death a thousand times but this was the first that he feared one.

'W-why am I scared? I should be stronger than these monsters?'

His hands tremble in fear trying to defend himself on the surprise attack that the lions might do but slowly, the primate lion walked towards Jin with pride and mighty. He was three times bigger than his pack mates.

The overwhelming force the lion emit causes traumatizing pressure to anyone it comes across. Finally, it stood up with its chest all high and mighty. It had pitch-black manes and bloody red fur. Its eyes looked very sharp and one of it had been scarred causing only one of its eyes to work.

Ting!

Scar, the Grievous Lion

Level: 40

Rank: Dungeon Boss

HP: 99,100/100,000

'The dungeon boss? Why does it have to be the dungeon boss?'

Jin worriedly said to himself. He wanted to hurriedly retreat but the lions had already surrounded him, not only that. His speed up skills were still in cooldown so there was no way he could escape from this scenario.

'Shit what should I do?'

"Human, what is your business with us?"

Surprisingly, Scar could talk. He didn't open his mouth but his voice reverberated throughout the place like thunderstorms.

"Y-you, can talk?"

"Yes, I was raised by a human."

"Is it a hunter?"

"No, he doesn't slay monsters for him to become strong but rather, he forges dazzling equipments that holds overwhelming powers."

'A forger? Who might it be?'

"That sword your holding, could its name be Dainsleif?"

"Ah! How did you know?"

"The man who made that sword is my master."

"G-gred? The legendary blacksmith?"

"If that what you humans call him, yes he is, how did you know him?"

'If I tell him that I heard it from legends, he might kill me. I should befriend this lion and kill it when it's asleep!'

"Uhmm, he is my father!"

"Your father? Hmmm... I don't feel a presence of bloodline from him inside you? If you lie about this, I will not hesitate to kill you!"

His anger made the ground tremble. It really shows Scar his loyalty to Gred that it would kill any impostors that dare to ridicule its master.

"N-no! Just like you, I was an orphan who was raised by him."

"I see... so that makes us brothers!"

"Y-yes?"

"Hahahaha! Very well human! What is your name?"

"Uhmmm, my name is Jin!"

"Jin! From this starting moment, we will become brothers!"

Finally, the stupid lion took the bait! Jin could now relax for a moment but where this Jin take him? Will he ambush and kill Scar or will he refrain from killing it and completely tame it?
