8 Swordsman

My training is continuing as it was on day one. But one thing changed. The system has added my sword exercise to the quest.

{Daily Quest}

{Absorb mana for one hour 1/1}

{Swing your sword 420/500}

{Quest reward: Stat increase}

I've never really thought about swordsmanship that much. I've really liked the daggers, but it feels like I should take this opportunity to accumulate multiple skills. Honing my swordsmanship will only help me get stronger. I should take Igris as an example. His sheer force is something I aim to achieve with a sword.

It's a lot less pressure having daily quests without the risk of a penalty. The system doesn't seem to be able to penalize me anymore. It seems to expect my cooperation in this. If it's helping me in my training, does it expect something in return?

"Ok Art. We've been doing this for two weeks now. I will add another exercise to your routine. This is called a slash" Rey stood up tall in front of me. His gaze has become more intense, as he was preparing for the move. It looked simple at first, but if you had combat experience before, as I did, you notice the sheer skill behind his execution. The slash was intense, fast and precise at the same time.

"Wow!" I immediately attempted it myself. Ok. Focus. I closed my eyes and took on the stance I copied from my father. One single movement. With all I have. Now!

*slash*

[Rey's POV]

Art is such a fast learner. It's only been two weeks since I taught him how to swing the sword. Yet, his dedication to that single exercise impressed me. He didn't question me and just kept repeating and repeating his swing day after day for two weeks. I noticed something else. His eyes, their intensity was not normal. He was completely absorbed in the training. Only focused on the thing in front of him. Also, it felt quite scary. The way he swung his sword combined with his intense stare gave me goosebumps at first. Scary 3 year old.

[Arthur POV]

The system truly is forthcoming lately.

{Stats unsealed}

{Stat distribution will be taken over by the system}

Taken over by the system? Isn't it able to properly set up the reward and levelling system? It seems as if the system experiences some issues when faced with this new world. It might also be, because the architect is no longer actively maintaining the system. I will trust it's judgements for the time being. The system does seem like it's helping me out.

{Daily quest completed}

{Stats will automatically increase}

{In order to assist the player's growth, stat distribution will be set to 'efficient'}

Awesome, I won't have to worry about that for now. Seems like I can think about another way I can influence my power. If the system takes over stat distribution, and helps me train my swordsmanship through a daily quest, is it possible... possible that it can still help me create skills? That would be beneficial to say the least. Because even if I regain my powers, it's a hassle that it doesn't seem to fit in too well here. Keeping a low profile would be hard this way. I should start thinking about how I could use magic here, but for the time being, I will continue my training with my father.

[About one year later]

This training has continued for the next year. The system has regularly added the new training exercises to my quest window and consistently increased my stats. It's not a lot at the moment, but I am able to spar with my dad for quite a while.

{Daily quest}

{Absorb mana for two hours 2/2}

{Sword-swing 1000/1000}

{Sword-slash 1000/1000}

{Sword-curls 200/200}

{Run two miles 2/2}

{Sit-ups 200/200}

{Spar for an hour 1/1}

{Daily quest completed. Daily quest reward 'Swordsmanship lvl. 1'.}

{Passive skill 'Swordsmanship lvl. 1' has been created.}

I knew it! It took an entire year, but it happened! The system is still able to create skills for me! That's good news. I will figure out how to use that to the fullest. But for now, I'm satisfied with the results.

"Great job Art. I can truly tell you're becoming stronger! I worry what will happen once you add magic to the mix." Rey was proud. His training style has paid off. I'm honestly glad I had him as my training partner. It made things less boring, and our daily sparring sessions were quite intense. He's still going easy on me, but I will soon give him a run for his money!

...

"I'm so excited. I haven't seen them in such a long time." Alice couldn't contain her excitement. It was written all over her face. But I forgive her. It's not everyday you get to reunite with old friends. And these friends were special to my mother and father. It's their old adventuring party! They are passing through on their way to Xyrus, and my parents thought it'd be best, if we accompany them.

My training has been fruitful, but part of the deal between my parents was that we'd look for someone who will test my magic abilities and hopefully guide me. In order to do so, we are moving to Xyrus City. I'm excited that I finally get to see more of this world. I'm also excited to meet the old teammates of my parents. I wonder what kind of people they are...
