10 Master of mana

[A few weeks later]

As our journey continued towards Xyrus City, I sat in the carriage together with my mother, Jasmine, Angela and Helen. The guys were outside, riding the carriage. I had a lot of time on my hands.

I've been thinking a lot about my powers. I know how strong I can become, with my powers alone. If I continue to do everything only to regain my powers, I will definitely become as strong as before. But what if I could become stronger? My abilities are currently sealed and it could be quite useful for me since I don't have any magic attacks for the moment.

How would I even go about learning new magic? Also, the elemental affinities don't interest me that much. Except for one that is. I wouldn't mind lightning. Ever since I experienced Demon Lord Baran and his Lightning Sword, I've gained an interest in lightning magic. It's fast and powerful, a sheer brute force of nature.

WHAT'S THIS?! A quest?! Created? Master of mana huh? The system. The system definitely just reacted to my thoughts! Does that mean… I could learn lightning magic? Or at least a skill? I'll need to find out more about this quest. Why would the system help me as much as it does right now? It hasn't behaved like this before. It does feel cooperative. How unusual.

There's no need for me to refuse this quest. It's exactly what I need right now. Mana release huh? I'm good at that aren't I? Or does it mean something else by that, because it would be way too easy for me to just release my mana. The mana inside me feels like a storm, that you put a lid on, so in order to release it, I would only need to remove that lid.

...

As expected, It wasn't that easy. I tried around a bit, and suddenly found an answer. How do I imagine myself fighting with lightning. I would direct it with my hands of course! I sat down on a dead tree, about 1 mile away from our basecamp and closed my eyes.

I imagined the mana in my chest, coursing towards my hands that I extended forward. The mana felt hard to control at first, but after the first few moments, it felt natural. It felt as if I always knew to do so. I opened my eyes to see a strong blue glow releasing from my palms. Let's turn it up a little. The blue glow now shone so bright, that I momentarily blinded myself.

After my vision had completely returned, the quest window popped up.

[One month later]

We arrived at a mountain range. We will need to cross this in order to avoid the beast glades. I have a bad feeling somehow. I feel like we are being watched. I don't know if it's because of my heightened senses or just my imagination. I've managed to level up quite a bit this last month, but my sense stat is not high enough yet. If anyone is watching us, they must have a mage with some vision skill or something in that category, because I would definitely notice, if someone snuck around us.

I looked over at my mother, she had a weird expression on her face. She looked weak. A little tired too. The constant strain of this journey must've been hard on her. I'm sorry mom. You're doing all this for me...

My thoughts were interrupted by loud noise outside of the carriage.

"DEFENSIVE FORMATION!" Rey ordered.
