7 Life is beautiful

[Several months have passed]

My body is steadily growing. My motor function has become a lot more precise compared to a few months ago. I've been able to talk to my parents clearer, but I'm still dumbing it down for a while, in order not to raise any more suspicions.

Over the past months, I've been constantly doing my daily quest. I've already done it for today, because my parents and I have something planned. It's been fun just hanging low for a while and life in this world sure is comfortable compared to my previous one. I don't know how to describe it, but I feel more calm. To be fair, I'm only two years old. The life of a two year old should always be comfortable, living without worries...

Let's get back to the reason why today is a little more special than the other days. My third birthday is coming up, and that means, that my father will start training me in the way of the sword. My parents had reached an agreement, that my father could train me for a year, before we'd look for more appropriate teaching. My mother insisted, that even if my father trains me in swordsmanship or combat, I should later get a teacher who will help me develop my magic abilities. My father has been overjoyed by the opportunity that opened up to him.

I am also looking forward to this, because I can finally start training my body, even though I will have to take it slow.

In preparation for my birthday, we are heading to the local market for two reasons. First, my mother wants to buy some ingredients she will need for the birthday dinner. She is planning on overexerting herself. Although I'm sure it will be delicious as always. Second, we are buying me a small wooden sword. A local artisan in this village specialises in carving wooden swords for big and small. Even the local knights buy their wooden training swords at that artisans shop. He's known for making durable training equipment.

...

"Are you excited Art?" Rey asked me as we were about to enter the marketplace.

"Yes, dad." I answered, while showing him a short but genuine smile.

"Good. You know I've been looking forward to training my son. I will make sure to make a great warrior of you" he said proudly.

"I want to be as strong as you dad." I felt excited myself. I was looking forward to once again, becoming strong.

"I'm sure you will surpass your father in no time, sweetie" Alice joined in. "I should get going, the ingredients won't buy themselves. You two should also head on over to the shop now."

"Sure, honey. Take care. We'll come and get you later." The way my father looked at my mother... he was truly in love.

[In the shop]

"Welcome, dear clients. What can I do for you today." The old man inquired expectantly.

"Oh, we're just looking for a sword for this young warrior here." Rey sounded so proud.

"I see. You're looking for a toy?" The old man didn't engage in eye contact with me, it's as if he didn't really acknowledge my presence.

"No, actually we're looking for a training sword for my boy. You see, I'm planning on training him a bit."

The old man suddenly eyed me. I responded with a blank stare, unfazed by his assumption. I mean, who would expect an infant to be training.

Although the old man was reluctant at first, he ended up selling us a pretty nice training sword. Although it looked simple, I could feel that it was carved with care, and the wood was also a sturdy one. It's size went well with my body and I was satisfied.

[A day later. Arthur's third birthday]

I had my first training session today. My father started off with simple sword swings. I swung my sword over and over again. I felt like a beginner, but it was necessary. I need to teach this body all over again. Even if my abilities return, I will need a reliable body that I'm able to control. My sword-swings were slow and weak. The sword quickly felt heavy and I needed many breaks in between. My father said that we will be doing this for a while, until we move on to more advanced training.

"How was your training honey?" My mother was currently standing at the stove. She was cooking her famous beef stew for my birthday.

"It was fun. I hope I can learn more soon, but I'm also tired."

"Oh baby, why don't you rest for a bit. Dinner will be ready soon."

As I rested in my bed, I couldn't help but think about the fact that I've been in this world for 3 years already. Time sure flies. I miss my old life, but I've slowly started to accept the fact, that I can never go back. Still... it's not easy.

...

My third birthday went on with my birthday dinner. My mother's stew was amazingly rich. Surprisingly, the beef stew was not the best part about dinner. My mother baked me a carrot cake! Carrot cakes used to be my favorite, even in my past life. I didn't know my mother knew the recipe for it. It was a delight.

"Thank you, mom and dad. I love you." and so, my third birthday came to an end.
