Chapter 51.

Zach's POV.

I made my way quickly over to our shared barrack, which was basically just a giant tent. It had a bunch of cots lined up inside.

Barging through the flap that was our front door I sped over to Steve's cot and would you believe it. There he was, sleeping beauty. He was out cold without a care in the world.

If he wasn't the best god damn assassin alive, I would have made sure to thoroughly make him pay with a proper punishment.

I brought my hand up into the air to deliver his justice, just as I swung down with great force. Steve moved like lightning out of his bed to the side. my hand hit the hard fabric of the cot instead of his body.

Looking over to the front of the cot I found Steve standing there at parade rest. (Standing up straight and hands behind his back.) Like nothing had even happened, trying to pretend to be perfect soldier.

"Really Steve, you still need to teach me that movement technique that you use." I said as I moved over to him to look him in the face. Only to see him trying his best to hold in a laugh.

"Hahah sorry sir. However, I will have to decline that technique is my family secret that I wouldn't even be able to tell you if I wanted to. They would send the guards after me. Hehe."

'Tch I will get that technique one day.' I thought to myself in frustration.

Steve unlike the rest of us wasn't an orphan he had a family back home that truly cared for him. His family was pretty wealthy and came from a long line of technique users that only taught their secrets to the immediate family members.

Which is why he would teach me his movement technique.

"Let's just head to the mess hall. I don't want to have to deal with you right now. " I said as I turned on my heels and headed out of the tent.

I didn't want to wait for Steve to stop laughing, nor did I want to see that smug look on his face. He always had a way of making me feel pathetic for being jealous of his abilities.

In fact, I was a bit jealous but no way in hell would I ever admit that to him. If I did, he would never let me live it down.

Chow went by like a blur and the rest of the team was all tucked into their beds ready to finally get some sleep. I told them that they could sleep in, in the morning since they all put in so much work during the past training sessions.

Needless to say, they were very happy.

This is my life now, as boring and mundane as it usually is until the higher ups need someone disposed of. This really made me miss Eve and her companionship, I never thought that I would get to live a normal home life with someone that truly cared for me.

It made me want to protect her even more and race back to her. But alas I couldn't do that without going awal from the military.

With thoughts of Eve, I closed my eyes and went to sleep. Now at all ready for the storm that was coming my way.
