Eve:

I am Eve Mason Jackson.

In the small city of Wisconsin, Sauk city, you could expect snow above fifty inches. You would eventually know everyone in the town. However, you shouldn't expect anything to be expensive. Things sure were cheaper in here. Especially, medications and doctors.

Wisconsin was nothing like New York. Though, I did come to love everything about this place. It was pretty, uncrowded. As far as I could tell my mom seems to enjoy living here. well, that was what I intended to believe. She wouldn't say anything, and I haven't plan on talking to her about it.

Sometimes somethings were better if you kept them hidden.

"Mama, I am leaving to work. Please take your medicine on time." I told her, she was laying on the sofa. As usual, watching her favorite show of the day as she covered half of her body with a deep-color blanket.

As I was expecting of her, she didn't speak. At least, she slightly gave me a nod.

The huge bang on the television series almost gave me a heart attack. "Oh, my Gosh." My heart started pounding as if some explosive devices had accidentally destroyed the earth. I guess I was so lost into my own thoughts, I didn't even realize my mom was still re-watching Star Trek series. Obviously, that would be the main reason for causing all this commotion, which definitely gave me hard time early in the morning.

I have no idea why anyone would pay money to watch television series or movies. In my opinion, it was just ridiculous. If I was my mother, I wouldn't even pay pennies for entertainment. I liked books, I loved reading romance novels, but movies and series were never my favorite.

In nineteen years of my life, I never find television shows interesting to watch. I have seen a few movies in the past, one of them was a wizard of OZ. I found it very unrealistic than interesting. Obviously, it was a child play that was written to get children attention. Besides, I didn't remember being immature children and dreaming about fairy tales ever in a lifetime. I was always mature in the way.

I went to the kitchen and pick up my phone from the charging station. Impatiently, waiting for my mom to say her goodbyes. I nearly waste five minutes of my busy schedule.

Another silence from my mom made my eyes watery. Using my right hand, I wiped my tears. Pretending I have something on my face. Not that my mom would care. Not that she would be looking at me.

I grabbed my tiny purse from the dining table, glancing at her once. I checked my phone.

In the two-bedroom apartment, you could obviously hear you're neighbors banging on the thin paper wall. However, my home could still be another way to define how a library must be all the time. There would be voices of paid actors acting weirdly on the television, there would be a phone call from my mom nurses once a week and a visit from her doctors once every two weeks. But, there wouldn't be any conversation between daughter and mother.

My mom would never care whether there would be a storm outside. Silence would always be part of her. It was not like she couldn't speak, she just stopped talking to me after that terrible incident that occurred some years ago in our life.

"Mom, don't forget to take your medicine." I reminded

her one last time.

Her expression hadn't changed in these years. Although, she had gotten older and more sick as the day passes by. Since she was born in a family that definitely cared about their looks than their personality she always tried to look beautiful as she could.

"I am so dumb," I muttered, walking to the main door.

I haven't heard my mom voice in a very long time. I have gotten used to her ignorance. It was just, it really did hurt when no one appreciated your hard work. When you have an only family left, but she would not care about your whereabouts.

"Goodbye, mama. Have a nice day." I told her, exiting the house with my watery eyes.

The cold air brushes through my wavy hair. My heartbeat starts pounding as chilly wind touched my uncovered skin.

"Ugh, I hate winter. I can't afford to buy a jacket." I thought, walking down to my car.
