3 Rainy Day

Emily's P.O.V

I throw my back onto the soft mattress, making me bounce. I close my eyes shut, relaxing my tired body from my first day of school.

After some good minutes, I finally open my eyes, meeting the dull ceiling.

I breathe out at ease, my body feeling as if I am floating in the air.

My mind is going through the file of memories which I recorded today.

Suddenly, the picture of that guy came into my head. I cannot help but recall the moment when he found out I was going to be his partner.

*Flashback*

Some gasps of shock can be heard coming from the students sitting in front of me. After listening to the teacher's sentence, my eyes immediately scanned the whole class, targeting the furthest seat in the classroom.

The first thing that I saw is a pair of doe eyes and an open hanging mouth, probably as shocked as other students. He moved his shocked pupils to mine only to notice my eyes on him. Instantly, he throws his gaze onto his table, his head low enough that I cannot see his face properly.

My brain stuck to his aghast expression, started processing my first impression of him.

*End of flashback*

Innocent.

Soft.

Sensitive.

I thought in my mind.

It's hard to find someone like that nowadays. Someone who has a face of pureness. I cannot even imagine him lying to people.

Another thing that I noticed about him is that he is quiet. He does not talk too much. He did not utter a word to me.

Well, at least I am glad to be knowing I am not the only unsocial person. And with him sitting next to me, for sure I will be in peace.

Speaking about peace, something went across my mind. The moment of the lunch break replays all over again. I sigh heavily at the thought of it.

*Flashback*

It was loud and I mentally sighed at the sight of students that are already in the cafeteria.

I was walking along with Cameron who was supposed to show me around the school. I regretted accepting his invitation but just because I don't want to create an uncomfortable atmosphere on my first day. Plus, he seems nice.

"Follow me," said as he walked two steps further than me to lead. I followed his steps to an empty six seater table.

Cameron turned his face to look at me and give me a friendly smile.

"You can sit here," he said as he pointed at the seat in front of him.

Without saying anything, I followed his words and sat on the seat that was pointed.

I put my lunch on my table, a wooden container contained my chicken sandwich and a hydro flask with my orange juice in it.

I take a look around the cafeteria to find it rowdy. The loudness of students chit-chatting, the sounds of chair screeching, the sound of trays being put on the table, it disturbs me. I mentally sighed again and looked at the container in front of me, not focusing on the bunch of chaotic dins.

*End of flashback*

Lord, I definitely cannot spend my time there enjoying my recess EVERY DAY. There is no hint of peace and calmness, just pure haywire.

There were eyes looking at me, while I was just playing dumb, acting like I did not notice it at all. I did not appreciate the attention, but again since it's my first day, I will let it slip.

I already can tell I will have a problem to shift myself into this new environment, this new place, this new...

"home".

It is so weird to call this unknown town something so important like that.

It feels so alienated... I feel outcast. I have never really gone outside of my bubbles, where sometimes things are out of hand.

This place, it is different. So much difference. There is no warmth that I'm used to, no comfort that I am familiar with, it doesn't feel like home.

Just if-

No. Stop.

No. Just no.

Third Person's P.O.V

Her mind goes blank. Just like what she said, she stops thinking about everything.

She let out a heavy sigh. Her chest felt heavy, her eyes trembled involuntarily, her hands were shaking.

"No... no," mumbles out of quivering her lips.

Glassy tears started to form in her eyes.

"No..."

Her hands move to her mouth, covering it. Tears are threatening to fall at any time.

Her heart clenches, her left hand quickly clutch the fabric of her shirt, as her right-hand nails dig into her face.

Tears finally fall on her cheeks, wetting it as it reaches down to the soft mattress under her.

She turns to her left side, lying in a side position.

She continues to let out her involuntary tears, holding her throbbing heart as the other hand is lying lifelessly.

Third Person P.O.V

Her body shifts into a much comfortable position while her mind is in a deep sleep.

Slowly, her eyes open up to the see mattress of her bed and the dull wall.

She blinks, her mind is blank. After a few seconds, she takes a deep breath.

She sits on her bed, scanning the room until the view that is displayed outside of the window not so far from her left catches her attention.

There are droplets of water on the surface of the glass.

"It was raining?" She thought in her half-awake mind.

Then she realized the feeling of warm soft thick fabric on her lap. She looks at the cozy object to see a comforter.

"Huh, weird that I didn't notice it earlier."

She stands up, stretching her body, feeling every inch of her muscle that is replaced but a wave of fresh and relief.

She looks at the clock that is hung up from her study table, checking the time.

"4.33 p.m... I must have not been asleep for a long time then."

Not knowing what to do, she stands at her place until an idea pops up in her head.

She goes into her wardrobe, finding a suitable outfit to wear.

Considering it is chilly outside, she picks a sweater, oversized vintage lightweight jacket with plain jeans and a simple belt.

She changed her outfit and put on a pair of brown boots to finish her look.

Simple. Just the way she is.

She gets to her table, taking her wallet and keeping it in her pocket. She was about to leave the room when the thought of her phone went through her mind.

Her left hand moves to open the drawer, taking a look of her phone that has not been used for months. Besides the phone, a pink with cat-like shape earbuds are placed neatly.

Without a lot of thinking, she closes the drawers not taking any look at the phone anymore.

She shuts her door room, making her way to the stairs, walking down the wood material.

Besides the stairs, placed the kitchen that is not too far from her eyes.

She continues to walk to the main door until a voice stops her.

"Emily," a familiar voice called. But she doesn't remember this voice being soft.

She looks to the right where the kitchen is placed. Her mom is looking at her with a motherly face. The kitchen counters are covered with baking ingredients and baking utensils.

"You're going out?" The lady asked softly.

"Yeah, I am going to look around at this place," Emily replied with her usual low and calm voice.

"Oh, here," her mom said as she walked to Emily, giving her quite a generous amount of money.

She takes her daughter's hand and puts the money in her palm.

"Use this to do whatever you want with it," the lady adds.

Emily apathetically replied with an okay.

She walks away, opening it to be greeted with a cold breeze that sends chills to her skin.

She closes the door behind her, silently enjoying the air. Her eyes close by itself as she takes a deep breath, experiencing the feeling that she misses the most.

This familiar feeling.

Without realizing, a small smile is form on her lips.

With a lighten mood that she hasn't felt for months, she walks out of her house compound, exiting the small gate that is not far besides the main gate.

She starts to make her tranquil steps on the pedestrian. Step by step, she is further from her house.
