3 #3 – Start Of A Friendship

Getting dressed is for P.E is always something else, especially at our school. Some poor guys getting pants, having their family jewels open for all the guys to see in the locker room, and some classic roughhousing. Honestly, things like this give everyone a kick out of it so it never fails to entertain. Luckily I have never been pants before but I have thrown down quite a few times in the locker room. Lost some and won some so at the end of the day still having fun with my fellow guys.

After everyone finished getting dressed we all headed to the gymnasium for our P.E. teacher to explain what activity we are doing today. Our P.E. teacher who used to be an ex-Olympic swimmer is someone who is actually fit and takes these sports activities very seriously. For the vast majority of students P.E. is usually an easy A+ class, even for the lazy people but not with Mr. Watanabe or coach as we call him.

"Alright, everyone hurries up and get into rollcall so we can start our daily activities." Coach said while looking at the attendance sheet.

Once we went through rollcall, Coach went into the back to grab the equipment that we would be using today. It was a bunch of flags with two bright green flags. So Coach decided to make us play capture the flag, not complaining it's a pretty fun game to play and some good cardio.

"Okay, so Sakura Mori, and uhhh Ichiro Hino, congratulations you both are team captains for capture the flag today." Coach finished saying as he handed both of them a green flag.

With that being established the two decided to pick team members and I ended up being with Ichiro. Quick background on Ichiro he's basically the loverboy for the 2nd year class, he's funny, smart, and athletic, so basically a girl's dream guy. Ichiro and I aren't best buddies but I would consider him a friend and it helps that I'm decently athletic myself so it's a dream team when we are together.

Sakura herself had a pretty solid team and it helps that she is quite athletic herself. Sakura is basically the female version of Ichiro which really boosts her reputation in the school. Besides having a pretty face and a good body she has brains and athletic ability, she even broke some school records in track and field so I don't underestimate her.

We all made our way over to the field and each team went to both ends of the field where we would be playing capture the flag. A quick breakdown of the rules. Our team is wearing red flags around our waist and Sakura's team is wearing yellow flags. There is a mini circle at the end of each side of the field where the flag is kept. Anyone can guard the flag without being directly on top of it and you have to run to the other side and grab the other team's flag. If your flag gets pulled off then you stand in place and a teammate has to touch you in order to get back in the game. If you have the flag and your flag gets pull you have to drop the flag whenever you get out and it's basically a fumble for American football, a complete free-for-all.

"Okay guys, here is the plan to secure the W for our team," Ichiro says to us as we all start putting the red flags around our waist.

"You two guard the flag," Ichiro points to two members of our team. He quickly follows up, "Roi, Alto, and I will be our main offense when it comes to trying to capture the flag. So the rest of you can be layers of defense to stop people from getting the flag and a recuse team for when we get out"

And with that our game plan was put into action and from what it looks like Sakura and her friend were guarding the flags, they definitely are a good pick to defend their flag but we should be fine. Most of the dudes on her team were checking her and her friends out so that is something that can work for us.

And with that, the whistle blew to start the match.

This game was harder than I thought, both teams were pretty tired and kinda at a stalemate. The score was 3-3 so whoever won the next point was the true winner of the game. Unfortunately for me, I got out due to Sakura pulling my flag off my waist, and Ichiro and Alto went back to recover as it seems they were coming up with a game plan of some sort to score that last final point.

"You know what Sakura, you're a lot quicker with your reflexes than I thought, to be honest," I say to her just trying to make small talk waiting for my team to come to get me back in the game.

"Well, it does help that I do a lot of running so I guess it helps with the reflexes," Sakura responded with a small chuckle.

"Yea, guess that's what I get for thinking I could finesse you and get the flag," I respond rubbing the back of my head.

"Anywho, Roi, I am quite surprised you came in to help save your friend Akari from his little incident earlier at lunch," Sakura says letting out a small laugh.

"Yea, well I didn't think he would actually ask you out as a joke, but Akari has more guts than I will ever have so props to him still," I say back to her while doing a little stretch. As I finish my little stretch and get my back erect I tell her, "For how many poor souls you reject it was basically a suicide mission."

"Is that what people really say about me?" Sakura says acting all "shocked".

"I mean you rejected Ichiro and Alto and they are probably the two most sought-after boys in our grade, and all the other not so handsome fellas in our school," I say looking over at her. "Don't worry though Sakura, I'm sure you have your reasons so I'm not saying what you did is a bad thing."

"Wow Roi, you're a lot more honest than I thought. I thought you were the typical guy who tries to avoid conflict," Sakura tells me with a curious expression on her face.

"Meh, I just say what I see going on that's all, nothing too deep," I respond with a simple shrug.

"How come you are talking to me now, I mean you could've done it before so why now?" Sakura asks me completely distracted not focusing on the flag.

"Well, there are a few reasons," I tell her while glancing down at the flag and see Ichiro and Alto preparing to make the final attempt to come to rescue me and get the flag. They must've noticed us talking and that she isn't even paying attention to the flag and it seems her friend is in the bathroom.

"First reason is that you seem like a nice girl, I mean you're popular for a reason so it doesn't hurt to talk to you. I respect your down-to-earth attitude which isn't normal for a girl with so much status like yourself," I tell her with my hand on my chin. "Second reason is that I'm out so having a nice little conversation with you is better than standing here like a dope," I say while looking at my flag on the ground.

"That's kinda bold of you to say Roi. I'm happy we got to talk you seem like an interesting guy so I hope we can have more chances to talk together," She says with a sweet smile. That smile was pretty cute, it caused both of us to get a slight blush.

"Oh, I'm sure we will Sakura, we have science together next anyways so who knows we might be partners for a project." I tell her staring into her eyes, "Also there is one more reason why I'm glad I'm talking to you."

"Hmm? Why's that?" She asks me completely clueless.

"You're completely distracted by our sweet conversation that Alto and Ichiro are about to get me and the flag," I tell her with a smirk as Alto and Ichiro are running straight at us.

By the time she could react Ichiro gave me a high five, aka recusing me. Alto came from the other side grabbing the flag right behind Sakura and made a mad dash back to our side to claim the last point. Ichiro made a mad dash with Alto too, making sure that the flag made it back safely.

Right before I jog back to my side I tell Sakura, "Sorry to do you like that Sakura, I really did enjoy our talk. I promise I'll figure a way to make it up to you, promise." Before she could even respond I was already jogging back to my group as we celebrated our victory other the team.

"So Roi, what did you and Sakura talk about?" Alto asks me as we head back to the locker room.

"Nothing much just small chit-chat to kill time and for y'all to come in clutch for the team," I respond while putting my arm around him, giving him and our team a thumbs up.

With that we took a quick shower, changed, and I made my way to science and it seems a special someone decided to take a walk with me to class. None other than Sakura Mori herself.
