2 #2 – Not So Lucky Akari

I started walking over to Sakura Mori's table and test my luck to see if I can score with her. Roi knew that she would probably reject my offer so he didn't have to pay for my lunch, but I will never back down from a challenge. Even though I never really have been in a relationship I don't think I'm that bad around females.

As I get closer and closer to their table to turn my head back and see Roi sitting under a tree giving me a thumbs up, as a form of encouragement. Now that my attention is focused back at Sakura Mori it is time to not shock Roi but shock everyone else when they see the skill I possess.

"Uhh, hey guys." I try saying to get their attention and focus on me. It must've worked cause all of them, including Sakura, were looking at me

"Hey, Akari, uhh is there something you need?" Sakura said with a confused look on her face. Other people must've known what I was up to because they all just stayed silent. Her friends just had a smirk on their faces already waiting for my chances with Sakura to end before I even started.

All of the eyes looking at me from other tables in the outdoor seating area and Roi looking to make sure everything was going okay. But with this sudden pressure, I slowly feel my composure crumble. I can't let that stop me now, I am already halfway there so I just gotta smooth line and go in for the kill.

From what it looks like it seems Akari has gotten a lot more unwanted attention than he already has but I'm sure he will be fine. Looks like he's about to do his punchline so who knows maybe he will end lunch with a free meal and a girl's phone number. I stand up and slowly walk over to them just to hear the one-liner Akari is supposedly gonna produce.

But after what I just heard I lost all faith in him. "Damn girl, you fine as hell, wanna go out sometime?" Akari said in the most awkward and loser way that I have ever heard him speak out in all the years that I have known him.

After he said that horrendous pickup line the whole outside seating area was just staring at him, in complete udder silence. Most people when attempting to ask out Sakura, either put a note somewhere where she is most likely to read it or try to talk to her when she is alone, which is very rare due to her popularity. Very few brave souls have attempted to ask her out in such a bold way, in front of everyone, and like Akari's fate, everyone got rejected and humiliated.

Everyone just started laughing hysterically including Sakura as Akari just stood there, like a helpless puppy who's just been abandoned. As much as I love to see Akari embarrass himself, which he tends to do quite often, this was just a bridge too far. I quickly start jogging over to them to think of an excuse for why Akari did something I knew he had no chance of success at. As I was coming closer Akari just looked at me with a look of desperation to save him and try to redeem any pride that he might have left in his system.

When I reached their table they put their attention to me thinking I was gonna add to the fire but luckily for Akari, I'm a decent friend so I will own up to my mistake for putting him through this pain.

"I'm sorry you had to witness that, just know that Akari was joking with what he said. I made him do it saying I'll give him free lunch if he does something stupid so please don't take this seriously." I say while clapping my hands together and bowing just trying to save face. I quickly stand erect and before they could say anything I just said "Aight have a good day," grabbed Akari, and walked away.

Looks like it kinda worked because they stopped laughing and just looked at me with a blank expression as I quickly walk inside, laughing at the fact that Akari completely choked at trying to ask out Sakura.

After Akari calmed down a bit he just sat there at the lunch table dumbfounded and still in shock from everyone laughing at him. But hey at least he got a free meal out of me so that is kinda a win, maybe.

"Welp, Akari you tried and you failed but hey that's okay, things happen and from the looks of it people already forgot about the whole thing," I say to Akari while patting him on the back.

"I don't wanna talk about it man," Akari said while sighing. "But holy, Roi, Sakura is so hot you should've gotten a better look when you went to the table," Akari said with mini hearts in his eyes.

All I could do was look at him with a blank facial expression. I literally did all that for him to say I should've got a better look while I was up there. I sigh and stand up because when looking at my phone it seems like the bell is about to ring and plus I have P.E. so might as well head there a bit early.

"Well, loverboy now that you seem to be your normal self, ima get ready and head to P.E. so enjoy my friend," I say as I take my leave.

Walking towards the school gym I look around and notice Sakura walking to her little fan club to the school gym as well. She must've noticed me looking over because our eyes met and all she did was give me a simple smile and I returned the gesture with a grin and a nod.

Thinking about it, I do have quite a few classes with Sakura but we never talked that much. Not that it was a major deal because I just tend to do my own thing so if our paths crossed then I handled myself just fine but I don't go out of my way for her attention. But enough of that, I arrive at the locker room and head in to get changed and so did the other twenty boys who entered the locker room around the same time as me.
