4 Rin's Fall

*Thump*

(Rin?!) *SQWAK?!*

Rin's face was pale white, live sucked out of her. She laid on the floor next to the door, her figure was fragile as a flower.

I panicked as she fainted and was now panting heavily on the floor. I leapt down the table and hopped over to her. Tears pooled up in my eyes as I looked at Rin's lotus like face.

I knew this day would come but I hoped it was not so soon.

[Target has fainted from immense fatigue and chest pains]

I knew she had developed cancer but as a bird who had just been born not too long ago I couldn't do anything. I feel so useless now seeing the closest person I know in this world die slowly in front off me.

(I-I am not going to see you die without trying to help!) *S-S-SCREECHHHH!*

I shook off the useless thoughts as I braced myself. I spread my wings as to attempt my first flight. I didn't try till now for I have been too afraid of falling but now was not the time to be afraid.

I felt the wind beneath my wings as I flapped with all my strength. I speed off through the window, my heart started to beat rapidly. I was nervous but excited as adrenaline pumped through me. My fear slowly broke away as I broke through the air.

I flew up into a vertical climb. As to what I was going to do, I hoped that [Sight] would allow me to see what others cannot to save Rin. I flew to the height of 2 km above the ground.

I hoped with all my strength that [Sight] would show me something that could make Rin better. As I was soaring up, I saw nothing useful. At the peak of my vision using 'Falcon eye' I could make out the landscape of a small town towards the north below the hill and to the south was a sea of trees. Hope was dissipating as I circled the area.

Suddenly, a blue glow was seen in the horizon of forest. Elated, I stooped, hugging my wings close, and enabled the ability of the peregrine falcon, diving down at the speed of 390 km/hrs. 'Extreme speed' activated as I speed up even faster. The closer I was the to the blue glow, the clearer it was.

It was a blue screen.

[Letter for Rin]

My heart dropped but I continued to dive down. I spread my wings, slowing down, as I glided around an opening in the ocean of trees.

A man could be seen leaning against a tree with two birds on his lap.

From afar it looked like a peaceful scene but with my vision I could see dried blood around a hole on his clothes where his heart would be and needles that were left behind on both of the falcons' body.

Stunned, I glided down to the bodies and stood in front them. I didn't know them personally and only heard about them from Rin's stories but I felt lost knowing that my family is no longer around. I prayed that they were in a better place now as I stood there in silence.

[Remains of Passerine's Father, 'Tunstall' and his beloved pair of Peregrine Falcons, 'Marma' and 'Duke'.]

[Life was taken by assassins hired by nobles, 5 days ago.]

Unwell as I was, time was of the essence as I apologised for desecrating their bodies and I pecked at what seemed to be Rin's father remains. I pulled out the letter that was sticking out of his pocket, it was a letter for Rin as stated by my gift.

(To my dearest Rin, ... )
