14 I am Her Husband

I woke up the next day because of the noise of my phone. I got up and handed over my phone. Then answered it without looking on the screen. What for? I don't feel like talking.

I fell asleep last night

around 2 because I slept yesterday so I had to wait long before drowsiness visited me again. It was only 7 in the morning base on the wallclock.

I didn't even sleep for 5 hours then I was disturbed.

"Hello?!"

"Is that how you speak to your brother now?"

"Look. I don't care w-"

I was stunned to hear the voice of the speaker on the other line and the voice repeated over and over again in my auditory. And I cannot be mistaken.

A strange tremor wrapped around my chest when I recognized that voice. And I wanted to wake up if this was just a dream. My spirit was finally awoke.

The slight closing of my eyes before because of drowsiness has now been replaced by a masculine one due to shock and panic. It was my one and only older brother, Ricos.

"Brother?!"

"I'm glad you still know me" I felt anxious when I heard the coldness and the sarcasm of his voice. He was not like this before and I never heard him using this tone wherever he was talking to me.

Is it possible that he was ... angry?

"B-brother, It was really you. I ... I missed you so much. How are you? I-"

"How am I? Well, I'm physically fine, mentally stressed and emotionally depressed." I was stunned again when I heard his voice. He was cold.

"You know why? Because my Sister. My one and only lil sister was hiding from me. My sister who is always dependent on me has her own life now. She doesn't need me anymore that She was starting to build her own life and I was excluded."

"Brother, that's not true!"

"That's what I thought." He sighed. "You had already arrived in the Philippines Allyssa, But you didn't even tell me. If my friend hadn't seen you, I wouldn't have known."

"Brother..." I felt crying. Weakly I leaned against the headboard when I heard the resentment in his voice. Have I choosen the wrong decision?

"D-does Mom and Dad know about it?"

"Yes, And they wanted you here now."

Somehow, I felt the urge to smile and throw a party because they were looking for me but when I thought about them scolding me, I automatically tremble because I was starting to felt nervous and fear.

"A-are they mad at me? A-are they going to reject me?"

"I d-" Brother's voice was suddenly cut off and then Mommy's voice was the next I heard. I almost threw away my phone in panic.

"Allyssa!"

I stood up "M-mom!"

"My God! Where are you?! We are looking for you for almost 24 hours now! You had arrived and then you still didn't show yourself here. That's disrespectful, Don't you know that?"

"M-mommy. I ... I'm sorry, I thought you don't wanted to see me-"

"And why would you ever think that? You are our daughter." My tears started to fell when I heard the magic word. After so many years, I didn't expect that I would still hear them call me their daughter again.

"Allyssa." it was the voice of my Dad. I smiled.

"Daddy, I ... I missed you."

"I missed you too my one and only daughter. Please come home."

"D-dad I can't-"

"Allyssa, You heard your Dad!" it was my Mother's voice again. Finalization was on her voice and I know I can't do anything to refuse.

I was having a second thought of going home but I know they will be going to disown me this time if I'll disobey them again.

"I u-understand."

"Good." and now I can see the warm smile on her face. "Be here before eight. I'm going to introduce you to someone."

"M-mommy? Come again?"

But I haven't received any answers from her with my question. Instead, She answered me with her Goodbye.

"Goodbye Allyssa, Take care in your way here."

She puts down the phone. Weakly, I sat up in my bed and rubbed both hands on my face. I had a bad feeling about what Mommy said but I knew there was nothing I could do.

I already said Yes.

On my way Home. I didn't even felt excitement like the person just arrived from a far land usually felt wherever they're coming back home. I felt nothing but nervousness.

I left Calvin at the Resort without even saying goodbye.

He was the kind one who made my Vacation free. I didn't spend even a peso because wherever I'm going to buy something. He will pay it for me and I felt guilty because I did not even say a proper goodbye before going.

"Allyssa!"

As soon as I got out of the car who pick me up, My cousins met me. Those were Triana, Cara, Nikka, Clayde, Darvin and Ejay. My parents was not with them.

I was a little disappointed because they didn't even meet me. I tried to be cheerful in front of them even though I felt heavy. They greeted me with a warm hug. Somehow I felt warm.

"You look prettier now."

"How are you?"

"It's been a while Ally."

"We missed you so much."

"Where are you from? You're missing in action for five long years."

"Infairness to you huh? You're so lucky because your fiance is so handsome!"

They asked one question after another but only one caught my attention. The one that Triana said. She even seems to be amorously excited while saying that.

While I just stared at them with my knotted forehead.

"What are you saying?"

"You don't know Luise? Gosh Allyssa, He's so handsome!" Cara screamed as my annoyance slowly rose. Who's that Damn Luise?

I couldn't wait for someone to speak so I went straight to the House. My Parents, Uncles and Aunts were inside with Brother and my two other cousins the same age as Brother, Arnold and Prince. And beside them was the guy whom I don't even know.

"Allyssa."

"Hija, you're home."

The people in the Dining that was happily talking and laughing stood up when they saw me. Mommy and Daddy approached me then my Aunties and Uncle and Brother then my two cousins hugged me and a guy who just smiled slightly.

But I don't like him. I have already a suspension about this 'stranger'

"Who are you?" I couldn't help but ask so he barely turned to me again.

Mommy is the one who answered my question while smiling.

"Ah, He's Luise Buencamino of Buencamino Enterprise."

"Really?" I barely smiled at him but it was all fake. He was just staring at me so I rolled my eyes. No need to act as if I like him because I'm not.

"Allyssa? Greet him. He's your fiance. And you'll be going to marry him soon" Mother announced with a smile. I wasn't even surprised by what Mommy said. Why would I?

I just saw him for the first time so I knew he was my 'fiance'. He's the only one I don't know here.

I felt nothing but dissapointment for my family. They didn’t even ask me about it. why would they even Engage me to a person whom I didn't love?

"I'm not marrying him Mom." I said straight so Mommy was stunned. The others gasped. I'm done of being dictated, at least not this time. No one can ever choose someone I would marry.

Never.

"What?!" I could see the fire of anger in his eyes. But if they slap or reject me now, I don't care. At least I know, I did my best to make them love me.

Now if they can't do that then I'm done with my part. they can disown me for all I care but I would never complain because I've never felt that I'm a family to them.

"What right do you have to say that? After I raised and feed you?!"

"I still have the rights to decline the engagement." I said with emotionless "No one has the rights to run my life. I own it and I'll run this on my way. Even my own blood can't rule me."

"Don't talk like that to your Mother Allyssa!" Dad yelled angrily. I just rolled my eyeballs.

"I already did Daddy."

"How dare you brat!" my Mom almost slapped me if not only of the hands that held her. We turned to the man at the same time and my head almost swelled when I saw Calvin.

And that's not all. He looks furious as hell!

"Try to lay your hands on her and you'll surely regret for doing it." he shrilled. Anger was visible in his eyes that made me gulped in fear.

"And who the hell are you?!" Mommy turned to him angrily. While I just stared at him. Shock.

How did he got here?

Calvin let go of her hands and turned to me. I gasped as he grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him. I could see the eyes of everyone there widened and Mommy's anger earlier had been replaced by Shock.

My heart was now beating wildly and I'm starting to feel insane here for the things that was happening.

"I'm Calvin Mendocino," he said dangerously. He take a glance at me and for a moment, his expression softened but darkened again when he turned to my family. "Your daughter's Husband." He said and I collapsed.
