3 The day of Mr Jones’ visit

I slept in this morning which was unusual for me as I would have usually gone on my run by now. Anyway, I am just going to cut to the chase here as I still can't believe what happened today and am currently writing this in my pyjamas preparing for my last night at home! I once again was made to drive MJ to school which I didn't mind as in the end, I didn't have to. Basically, I was racing around getting my running gear together when there was a loud knock on the door. MJ answered it and called my name almost immediately with a hint of excitement in her voice. As soon as I got to the door I felt my legs almost give way. DAVID JONES WAS AT MY DOOR! At first, I thought I was still dreaming but even after subtly pinching myself I realised that this was in fact reality. MJ left swiftly after that and said she would take the bus to school. I invited Mr Jones in for a drink and as soon as we sat down he questioned me about my running abilities and if I have any skills that would enable me to engage in missions. I told him that I was quite a good boxer and have undergone many training courses that would enable me to join the army next year. His response to that was "why join the army when you have the Freedom Fighters?" I hadn't thought of it like that, but then again I had never considered the prospect of having David Jones in my living room. I showed him my medals and certificates from all my running events and he seemed very impressed. "We need someone like you on our team," he said to me, over and over again whilst scanning through my university records. Being left in suspense for too long I burst out with the statement "wait am I becoming a Freedom Fighter then?" Mr Jones laughed at me, I'm not surprised, my excitement was uncontrollable. "Yes, yes you are." That sent me into a complete frenzy as I proceeded to ambush Mr Jones with questions about when I can join and if I can live at the Freedom Fighter's Compound. After I had been calmed down by Mr Jones we agreed that I was officially a Freedom Fighter from tomorrow when I moved into the Compound. This gave me one more night at home and with MJ! I had no idea how I was going to tell her but I guessed that she had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen when she left me and Mr Jones alone this morning. Before he left he asked me if I knew of Ben James. Confused with how out of context this question was I took a minute to process this. Eventually, I replied with a "yes" to which Mr Jones smiled and asked how. Once I had told him about Ben's relationship with my sister we came to a mutual agreement that we would keep it as a surprise until tomorrow to see how he would react. "I certainly would be uncomfortable with working with my girlfriend's sister," Mr Jones told me and we laughed.

As soon as Mr Jones had left and I had shut the door, I ran up to my room and turned up my radio to full volume and danced around my room for about an hour until the neighbours came over to complain about the noise. "I'm becoming a Freedom Fighter" played in my head for the rest of the day and in all my excitement I had forgotten about my running meeting in the afternoon but oh well, I guess I won't be doing it anymore! When MJ got back home we ran straight up to my room like a couple of children and she listened eagerly as I told her about my meeting with Mr Jones. What we couldn't agree on was how I was going to break it to mum and dad. To get into their good books I prepared dinner and gave it enough time to be ready for when they arrived home. When I opened the door for them they beamed at me and proceeded to congratulate me as we went into the kitchen. MJ and I shared a confused glance but we soon realised that Mr Jones had got to them first. With a lie. He had told them that I was gaining work experience alongside the Freedom Fighters, not actually becoming one. I couldn't understand why but when my dad stated that "this is a far better outcome than becoming a Freedom Fighter," I understood Mr Jones's reasoning. We had a lovely last meal together and after dinner surprisingly I was not alone when I rewatched the Freedom Fighters' best moments on TV. Exhausted from the adrenaline from the day I went up to bed vaguely early and MJ came up too and we ended up chatting until midnight which made me laugh as it ended up being the opposite of an early night! After agreeing that I would be subtle when it came to my massive crush on Jack we went to sleep. Well MJ did, I am currently writing this all down now!
