2 Chapter One

It had been eleven days. Eleven days since my parents died, eleven days since i ran from my childhood home. Eleven days since i have felt safe and slept under a roof. I have been traveling to the far away town I'd only heard of, to find someone that i didn't even know.

I still didn't believe my dads claim that i was daughter of the vicious and cruel King of Small Death. It just couldn't be possible, that i was daughter of a man that could shatter a persons mind without even blinking. I shook my head trying to clear the confusion i felt every time i considered it, all the motion did was make me almost faint from dizziness. My money had ran out after just one day on the road. I had been hunting with a small dagger i purchased along the way. I haven't been able to find food or water for almost a full day now. I knew i could survive without the food for a while longer, but i needed to find water soon.

Our little home was located in the middle of vast, dense forest. We were secluded from almost everything except a small town about a days walk away. It has been ten days since i left that town and i have yet to see any life beyond the forest animals, most of which were to fast for me to kill. I knew i had to be coming up on a town soon but i didn't know if it would be soon enough. I had spent most of the day before searching for water and came up empty and decided my best hope was to continue down the dusty forgotten path and hope i made it.

I had been walking a few more hours when the sun reached its apex and was beating down on me. I was sweating and my muscles were cramping and twitching. I had nausea so horrid i felt sure i would vomit if there had been anything in my stomach. The blaring heat combined with my empty stomach and dehydration caused my head to swim and steps to falter. I laid on the burning ground to dehydrated and nauseous to move. I had failed. I let my parents death be for nothing. It's my fault and i failed them.

Slowly everything went black.
