Poor Tom

The lack of homes for Tom was apparent. Tom was also the oldest at the orphanage, having been 12 when Charles arrived, and he was also the most well behaved. He was left there just like Charles, but without the ring and note. He had only the stone.

In the beginning, even thought Samantha knew that no one would want a half-grown kid with no talent who bounced around until 10, she still tried to get him a home over the years. There were no takers though.
