1 Welcome to Rosewood Academy.....

It was another dark and gloomy day at the Rosewood Academy for the Gifted and Talented Youth. The Academy was designed to help kids with higher needs and expectations to learn how to meet new challenges and reach new heights. Or, at least that's what they told you as a cover story for what goes on behind the closed door. This school has a dark secret and I'm the only student that's been trained long enough to actually know what it is. I am Sophie Chevalier, and I am a Demon Slayer. Code name: Black Rose. I usually fight alone, but someone decided I need partners. 'This will be fun'.

The morning bell rang throughout the dormitories, sending students rushing out of bed and stumbling to get ready for the day. I, on the other hand, was already up and fully dressed in the Academy senior year uniform. I had even strapped my official silver demon slaying daggers to both wrists. I was reaching for my coat when there was a bright flash of light. I looked to my right and saw my assigned Guardian Angel, Ophelia.

"I see you're up bright and early today!" Ophelia said happily, "It's nice to see you in a uniform that isn't covered in blood."

"Uuhhh… thanks, Ophelia." I say back as I brush my long fiery red hair, "You do realize that I am a slayer and slayers will have to deal with blood on their clothes sometimes, right?"

"I know,I know. It's just that...as your Guardian Angel it's my duty to carry those blood soaked garments. And well... you know I can't stand the sight of my charge covered in blood, be it hers or others..." I was looking in the mirror when she spoke and she was on the verge of tears.

I got up from my seat, whirled around, and gave her a bear tight hug,(So glad they don't materialize their wings indoors otherwise it would be difficult to hug her).

"Don't worry Ophelia, with an angel like you protecting me and my skills no demon can harm me." I say giving her an encouraging smile.

She wiped her unshed tears and smiled, "So what class is first?"

"Actually I have a meeting with..." Suddenly another bright light was set off in my room. I couldn't see for a few moments but I recognized the voice all too well.

"Good morning Ms. Chevalier." said a suave voice.

I blinked a few times regaining my eyesight. I saw before me a well-dressed man in a black suit with slicked back dark brown hair, and a smug grin stamped on his face. A grin I was now beginning to despise. He was the Vice principal of  Rosewood Academy, A.K.A. the Archangel Gabriel. Our school's principal was none other than the head honcho himself...God. But since he doesn't come down here, it's up to his main angels to do the whole teacher act. Now back to Gabriel.

He straightened his tie and cleared his throat, "I see we have an appointment today to discuss your..."

"Stow it Gabe, cause I am not partnering with some fresh off the press, wannabe slayer who thinks this is just some great big video game!"

I was about to rant about it more when four glowing figures appeared in front of me. I guess my opinion didn't matter much to Gabe since he summoned the newbies right off the back.

The first figure was a young Japanese girl dressed in a ninja outfit. She had long raven black hair pulled into a high ponytail and fierce violet eyes. The second figure was a young man that looked more suited to be a surfer than a slayer. His short, dirty blond hair and blue eyes made him seem like a character from Baywatch, not a demon hunter. The third figure looked like she belonged in a southern beauty pageant. With her fair complexion and shoulder length blonde waves, she would never be suspected as a slayer. The fourth...was absolutely stunning. He looked to be around 5.9", he had coffee brown eyes, short rusty brown hair, a lightly tanned complexion, and he carried a large, silver double headed battle axe over one muscular shoulder.

I guess Gabriel saw me size them up because he raised an eyebrow and said, "So, what do you say about new teammates?"
