5 – Perfect

My eyes shot open to view faces staring at me: my father, Lucas, Anvis, and a couple of my Fathers men. I almost frightened myself into another blood type.

Without warning, I hissed as agony surged through my brain.

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦...?

I blinked, and even that felt like an effort on its own. My genius self tried to push myself to sit up but an immense pain spread through my body and made me lay back down.

"No, no. Stay down and drink this." A lady beside my bed handed me something.

A cocktail mixed with stuff. She must be the Healer. I took one sip of whatever it was and almost spat it right back.

𝘈 𝘤𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘱 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵.

"It'll help with the pain and speed up your healing process."

"Thanks."

I tried not to let the bitterness shine through as I handed back the empty cup. She's just trying to help.

I turned to all the curious faces.

"What happened?"

"We should be asking you that, madam. Luckily, if it wasn't for Mr. Faye you would have been dead by now."

My father's tone was getting more heated by the second and his face displayed exactly what he thought of me.

"Mr. Faye?" was all I could manage.

"Hunter, Skyler. Hunter Faye."

My father knew him? What the hell was he doing there?

Was he stalking me? Going to kill me? Did his plans go wrong?

"Well," I started warily, "I was out hunting a deer and some noise gave me away and it attacked."

I fumbled through as the look on Father's face screamed 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘮𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳.

I most assumed Hunter would've explained what happened to my father while I was asleep knowing he already knew who brought me in.

Just wait for it.

"You and I are going to talk."

Ah, great.

𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵.

I frowned.

Lucas gave me something of a worried smile and exited the room with the rest following suit. Some chattered "Get well soon" and "Get better" as they left.

This was going to be something not short of bitter. As the last person left, my father pulled out a chair, sat on it, and stated easily, "You are not to spar with my men again."

"𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵?"

As if I didn't hear him correct the first time.

Maybe I didn't.

"You are not to spar with my men again."

𝘕𝘰𝘱𝘦. Not wrong.

I searched his face for something, anything, but there wasn't even any emotion evident.

"Wait, I don't und–"

"It means you are banned from training with my men. You are not to spar with them nor hunt with them. You will have nothing to do with them whatsoever." He shouted, his words vibrating off the walls.

My shock turned into anger as my body now boiled with rage.

"That's not fair! I have done absolutely nothing wrong to deserve this. I–"

"NOTHING WRONG? You almost got yourself 𝘒𝘐𝘓𝘓𝘌𝘋 . And you say you didn't do anything?"

His voice was the loudest I've ever heard it towards me.

"If I ever find you doing anything with my men again you are to be punished!"

Smoke practically erupted from his ears.

"You cannot force me to do or to not do anything," I shouted with equal volume. "It's not fair and–"

I moved as I got out of my bed but collapsed onto the floor, blacking out once again.

Exactly as I wanted things to go.

𝘕𝘰𝘵.
