17 The Allfather

In the lands connected to the first root of Yggdrasil located above Midgard, stands a majestic palace made of precious metals. On the palace, a man is seen sitting on a golden throne. The man looked like on his middle age. He has two blue eyes, long auburn hair, and a nicely trimmed beard.

This is the Allfather, Odin. Odin is the most powerful God in Asgard and also the chief of the Aesir.

He is currently overseeing everything that is happening in the Nine Realms from Hliðskjálf, Odin's throne. He remained serene as he watches anything that catches his attention.

On his right hand is the spear Gungnir "The swaying one", the deadliest of all spears .The spear shaft is made from Yggdrasil's Sacred Ash with runes carved on it by Odin himself and the spear tip is made from Celestial Star Metal. The metal itself is one of the rarest metals to make/find in all the Nine Realms.

The process of making this is one of the arduous things to do. You must first find a star in the sky that is currently on its dying moments. Then you need to immediately freeze it and let it absorb 99 other new-born stars before taking its core and forge it to become weapons.

There are numerous stars and also numerous dying stars in all the Nine Realms, but new-born stars are rare. So finding one hundred will be troublesome. This spear is one of the things that the Ivaldi Dwarven brothers, Brokkr and Sindri made when Loki did something back in the day which nearly costed his head.

As he was looking down in the other realms, two ravens are flying towards him in haste. They are Huginn "Thought" and Muninn "Memory", Odin's ravens that are a spiritual part of him. Odin sends them out every morning to bring latest news from all over the Realms and then comes back later to whisper everything they have heard or seen. And when they are not out collecting news, they sit next to Odin on Hliðskjálf.

Seeing the haste of his ravens, Odin furrowed his eyebrows. They still have 7 hours before they return back here. 'It must be serious' he thought.

The ravens landed on his shoulders and started whispering the things they found out. He began listening to them, at the beginning he just listens to them solemnly but when they told him about the whirlpool of evil demonic power being absorbed below in a cliff-side in Midgard, Odin's face became serious.

He immediately focused his attention to the place the ravens had told him. And sure enough there really is a huge concentration of evil demonic power on the area as they described him. After seeing the thing with his own eyes, Odin began to think once more.

'This is a very serious matter to be solved immediately. I haven't seen anything like this before. The concentration of the black clouds will make anyone crazy, evil, and demonic if exposed. I doubt even I will have some evil thoughts if I was there.'

'This might affect Ragnarök. Whatever this creature is in there right now will become a threat to everyone at that final battle. I need to do something to stop this creature from doing harm in the Nine Realms. Who do I consult first? The Norns or Mimir?'

'I think I should go to Mimir first and drink from his well. Maybe after drinking there I'll be able to create a plan to stop that creature from growing and cause unprecedented damage in the long run. Yeah that should do it and Ill visit the Norns after if going to Mimir didn't work.'

Finishing his thoughts Odin gets up from his throne and swiftly left the hall. As he was leaving he was met with a beautiful woman with blue eyes and auburn flowing hair, followed by two young maidens on each of her side. This is the wife Odin and queen of Asgard, Frigg,

Odin greeted his wife "Ah my lovely Frigg, what brings you here? Is something you need?"

"Darling I was on my way to the throne room and look down on the other realms from Hliðskjálf. It seems you are in a hurry, is something wrong?"

"Yes there is. It might be life threatening in the future so I'll be going to Mimir's Well to enhance my wisdom. I need to thoroughly plan this or else Ragnarök will be much worse in the future."

Frigg turned serious when she heard about Ragnarök. Ragnarök is the end of all things and also the Fate of the Gods. Everytime Ragnarök is mentioned, it becomes a very serious topic.

"So what is this life threatening you are talking about? Is it about the Giants? Are they creating something that will defeat us in the future?"

"No its not, It's something else. A terrifying evil demonic being is being born in Midgard. I can go down there and strike it down but after the whirlpool of concentration ended, I can no longer see what's happening on that place. It's like something is blocking me from further looking down there.

That creature might've escaped already before I can arrive there if I did"

"That is really serious. So, I will no longer delay you as this will affect our future. Goodluck husband." And she then kissed Odin farewell.

Odin rode his Sleipnir and travel down to the second root of Yggdrasil. This Sleipnir is the biggest of them all. Its size cannot compare to the Sleipnirs back in Midgard as this was the Original and the child of Loki.

Yeah you heard it right, Loki's child. Loki had a Sleipnir for a kid. It wasn't that surprising considering that he got a giant serpent and a wolf for a kid as well. But on this one, He was the mother of this thing after what happened between him and the horse Svaðilfari. It's a long story and after he conceived it, he gifted it to Odin. Kinda weird gifting your child to someone to be ridden.

This specific Sleipnir is the most beautiful of all Sleipnirs and horses, as it's also the most powerful.

Odin arrived at Mimisbrunnr, the Well of Mimir after 7 days. It is located at the mountains that are also a dimensional barrier between Midgard's Great Sea and Jotunheim, the land of the Giants.

Odin gets down from his Sleipnir and approached a swampy area with a well in the middle. As he approached the well he heard a voice welcoming him and a person appeared thereafter.

Mimir is the God of Knowledge and Wisdom as his name means "The rememberer" or "The wise one" as he is renowned for his knowledge and wisdom in all the Realms. He looks like a balding old man with glowing eyes, and two short horns at the front pointing crookedly upwards. His eyes were glowing like stars or jewels.

"Welcome Odin, are you planning you drink in this well?" Mimir objectively asked.

"Yes I am. I need wisdom as I'm facing an alarming problem regarding the future."

"The future you say? Hmm…..So what would you like to sacrifice in order to drink from the well?"

"A sacrifice?"

"Yes. In order to gain the wisdom and knowledge you seek, you must give something as a sacrifice."

After thinking for some time Odin then answered. "What about one of my eyes? My left eye to be exact. I wonder if that is enough."

"Very well, your left eye it is. Take it out and throw it down the well and drink from it after it confirmed your sacrifice. The wisdom and knowledge you desire will be given."

Odin then gouged out his left eye and thrown it down the well as it disappeared He then covered his bleeding eye socket and took a cup out of thin air and scooped the water on it. He drank and waited for his desired reward.

It took him 3 days for it to take effect, and after that his mind is now filling up with knowledge and wisdom at a fast pace. It's like flowing water filling up a container at an astonishing speed. It almost made him crazy as his mind is overflowing with waves and waves of it.

After some time experiencing the agonizing pain of knowledge and wisdom flowing in his mind, Odin finally sighed in relief.

Mimir brightly smiled at the end."So you finally got what you wished for. I hope you are satisfied."

"Yes. Yes I am. Now I can think more clearly and comprehensively. Thank you very much. I'll be going now. We'll see each other next time if the fates decree, Mimir."

Odin rode his Sleipnir again and rode it into the horizons on his way back to Asgard.
