1 Dying isn’t as bad as it seems

"Ha, like those shock things will help you at this point" said a man who looked like he could be twenty or two-hundred. He walked up to the doctor and started poking his head.

"Mortals confuse me, can't they see that your soul left your body? Anyway I guess you are Locklin" He said now looking at me. "Nice to meetcha! Seventeen is pretty unlucky. Do you remember how you died?"

"I got mugged and refused to give him my first edition signed book. I was only a chapter in and there was no way I wasn't going to finish it! But I didn't think he would actually stab me because of it." I said still kinda bummed about the book.

"Well let's see what my boss thinks about your untimely death." He said while wrapping his arm around my neck. Slowly everything turned black, when I could finally see again I was in a library. Right in front of me was a man sitting on a beanbag reading a book titled 'Locklin Jones'.

"Hey nice to meet you, I've been reading your life story and it hasn't been too bad up until the whole dying part. Honestly I don't think it was your time to die, so I want to give you another chance! I'm a god of reincarnation you see." The man said beaming at me. "I don't often meet other book worms. You also like the library, the others would rather sit in their rooms all day."

"Why wouldn't I like the library? It smells great, it's quiet, it's not too bright, and it has most of the books I would want to read. Sadly, I won't be able to read much more." I said first full of excitement then saddened by the sudden realization.

"I'll make sure you can read plenty in your next life. Do you have a question about reincarnating?" The man said

"Am I going to have a system like people in novels?" I asked trying to hide my excitement. I had been dreaming about this for a long time.

"Yes, you will have a system. Sorry to cut this short but I want to keep reading uninterrupted so will you be on your way now please. He will show you the way" he said, then he pointed at the guy standing next to me. "Oh and you can call me Tensei."

The man nodded and then suddenly started walking away so I didn't really have a choice but to follow. He stopped next to a tube.

"Please step in and we will get this over with." He said while waving me in. "Good luck and have a good life." Then he pulled a lever and the world lit up as if I was staring into the sun.

"It's a boy!" Someone next to me said in a booming voice.
