Aaron looked around the expansive forest, a grimace on his face. "Soul, how did you find that thing?" Aaron asked Soul, not seeing anything on the trees. "I will admit, I couldn't see them. However, if you pay close attention while using your Godly Energy, you can notice the irregular shapes on the trees. Think of it as a real-time radar." Soul reminded Aaron, causing him to tap his own forehead in realisation. He had forgotten that he could use Godly Energy for purposes other than attacks.
Aaron took a deep breath in, allowing air to fill his lungs as he channelled his Godly Energy into a heat sensor. It wasn't radar, but it'd help more than not being able to see at all. His vision quickly turned to something that could only be experienced through thermal cameras. He looked around, noting the strange heat coming from certain parts of the trees. "Ah, now I see them. So, how do we take care of them?" Aaron asked Soul and Coranth. "Well, I can't see them, so I'm practically useless here. You're free to do whatever needs to be done." Coranth explained, giving Soul and Aaron free reign. Soul and Aaron stared each other in the eyes, although that was hard. This was considering that Soul was slightly taller than Aaron.
"Well, first, let's bring Noctar out. We could use this as an opportunity to test his strengths, weaknesses, and his plain strength in combat." Soul explained, shrinking down slightly, now the same height as Aaron. Noctar appeared behind Soul, looking around, confused. "Hey there, Noctar," Aaron said to Noctar. "Don't move. We don't need to do anything until we start attacking them." Soul continued, a thought crossing his mind. "Say, Noctar. What's it like being conjoined with me? Are you aware of everything that's going on?" Soul questioned him.
"Yes, I am. It's like I am in a theatre, although I don't know if either of you knows about them." Noctar explained, causing Aaron to nod. "I know about them. A place to view things." Aaron confirmed, causing Noctar to smirk a little, glad that others knew about what he had experienced. "Yes, a place like that. I was able to view the world through Soul's eyes, and in turn, gained his radar-like vision, even while out here." Noctar explained, pointing towards his eyes. "Ah, I see," Soul responded, a look of deep thought appearing on his face. "I'm going to find a way to disable the ability to share vision while outside. After all, I don't want your vision changing randomly. However, I will make it so that when we both agree to it, your vision will be the same as my own." Soul told Noctar, who nodded in agreement.
"Alright, Noctar. How do you want to deal with these monsters?" Aaron asked him, letting him decide on his course of action. After a bit of consideration, Noctar came up with an answer. "I could use Death Hell Shower, but that wouldn't be suitable for use here due to all of the trees. Do you have a weapon that I could use?" Noctar asked Soul and Aaron, a black portal opening up behind him. "What would you like?" Aaron asked, a curious look on his face. "Whatever would cause the least destruction, please," Noctar responded as Aaron thought about a weapon that he had used in the past.
From the dark mist, he pulled out a small dagger, some strange ornament resting in the centre of the guard. "This is the Dagger of Dark Omen. I only know of it from when a god controlled my body back on another planet and a book. I don't know how he found out about it, but if this is what helps you feel free to take it." Aaron explained, handing the Dagger of Dark Omen to Noctar. Noctar grabbed the knife by its blade, throwing it up and flipping it to hold it by the handle. "Give me a minute. I can see them all using Soul's radar-like vision." Noctar informed them, taking a stance, his irises shrinking as he began his assault. He flung the dagger at a tree, purple blood flying from a treehugger's short figure. The other treehuggers didn't reveal themselves, but Noctar knew where every one of them was. He pulled the Dagger of Dark Omen out of the tree, the sword coming out cleanly, almost as if it had cleaved the tree like a knife through warm butter. Noctar smiled, flinging the knife at another one of the hiding treehuggers with the accuracy of a trained card thrower. The blade went through its head, pink blood coming out of this one. It was almost like a rainbow had shoved itself into the bodies of these sneaky bastards.
"You know, he's quite a good shot." Soul pointed out, causing Aaron to look at him in disbelief. "You think?! He's literally throwing a magical knife at enemies to kill them! Do you realise how much skill is needed to do that?" Aaron asked Soul, causing him to just shrug. "No, not really," Soul responded, watching as Noctar began to use his Corruption in creative ways with the Dagger of Dark Omen. He waved the dagger, channelling Corruption into the weapon, creating an arc of Corrupting that slammed into a load of treehuggers at once. A communicative shriek was sent out, and the treehuggers finally noticed what was going on, all of them letting out a similar shrieking noise. "What the hell are they doing?" Soul asked, putting his hands on the side of his head to give the illusion that he couldn't hear. A thundering boom rang out through the forest, causing Aaron to look into the trees with a curious expression.
"I think we awakened their mother or their father because that certainly wasn't a normal bomb going off," Aaron responded, watching as the trees began to flatten, slowly approaching them with the apparent force of a hundred bulldozers. "Yeah, we may be in a slight bit of annoyance," Aaron said to himself, looking back to Coranth, who was scared out of his mind.
"Yeah, this isn't going to be good."
Sorry for the lack of a chapter! I got my covid booster shot last night, so I was unable to write! Uploads should, hopefully, be normal from here!
