1 The Beginning of a Tale - 0

On a table in a dark metal room was a record player.

Out of the darkness, a pale hand reached over and pressed play.

"Click!"

Strange sounds came out of the recorder, before it finally started.

"Ahem, ahem, this is log 7 of the interviews with Inmate 999, Code Name: Inquisitor." Said a highly pitched, squeaky voice.

The sounds of a door being opened and closed, followed by the scratching sound of a chair being pulled back, as someone sits in it, echo through the cold room.

After a minute, the sound of the door opening and closing is heard again, but this time, accompanied by the soft jangle of chains.

"You have 10 minutes." Says a rough voice.

"That will be all the time I need." Said the slightly high pitched voice.

"Your time starts now." Rasped the rough voice.

There were some shuffling noises, before a third voice resounded.

"Ah... I get to speak once again, what a joy..." Rasped another voice, this time, even deeper than the one from before. And, although the words that the voice spoke were that of relief, the voice sounded bored... too bored.

"So, Inmate 999, returning back to the last session, I still had 1 question that was left unanswered."

"..." No sounds could be heard except for the clicking of the tape, as both parties didn't say anything for a while.

"Ah... The one about why I killed those people?"

"Yes, you see, many other criminals that I have interviewed have told me that they did it for pleasure, for money, for revenge, but you, you are different, you never once told me why you killed all those people, and some so horrendously at that."

"..." Another period of silence.

"You see... I was just curious."

"Curious you say? Well then, what were you curious about?"

"I was curious about all the ways that one human could kill another human."

"..." Another silence, but this was one out of shock.

"But, couldn't you have been curious about anything else? Why was there a need to be curious about killing 6,969 people in 6,969 different ways?"

"Well, I had experimented with my other curiosities, but I always figured them out in the end."

"So, what was your exact curiosity this time around?"

"What the realm after death was..."

"And how did you go about proposing that you would figure this out by killing people?"

"I don't know?" At this moment, you could literally hear the sounds of a shrug as the chains rattled a little with the movement.

"So, to summarize, you killed people for fun?"

"If you want to believe that, then by all means, believe."

"One minute left!" Shouted the first raspy voice, the voice distant, as if coming from a different room.

"Well, I don't have any questions left. Thank you for your time Mr. Inquisitor."

The sounds of a metal chair scraping on a metal floor resounded again, before the distinct noise of chains being dropped on the ground sounded.

"Clink!"

Immediately following, the sounds of a scuffle breaking out was heard, along with some extremely high pitched screaming and the rumbling of a deep chuckle.

"What's happening in there?!!!!" Shouted the first rough voice.

"I'm just getting this young kid to suck my cock..." Replied the deep voice.

"What the hell!"

What was heard next was the sound of a door opening so quickly that the doorknob smashed through the wall on the other side.

Then...

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Three shots rang out, before some croaking and wet coughing were heard.

"Ah, so this is how I die, and I couldn't even kill that damn annoying kid... Well, at least my body count will forever be 6,969... Hahahahahaha!"

"Shut up you crazy bastard!"

"BANG!"

After that, the room fell silent.

Then, after a few minutes of the tape just whirring, a new voice came on.

"And that concludes the last of the interviews with Inmate 999, Code Name: Inquisitor. He was pronounced dead at 4:20pm EST on Saturday the 7th of April, 2007." Said the new voice.

The tape whirred for a few more seconds.

"Click!"

The tape stopped as it reached its end.

Once again, out of the darkness, a pale hand reached out and removed the tape from the player.

A soft, eerie chuckle slowly filled up the room, before a full out laugh started echoing out of the room, and throughout the empty, abandoned building in the middle of nowhere.

...

15 Years Later - 7 April, 2022:

A young boy was walking home from school.

With the wireless earbuds in his ears and his hood over his head, he looked like a normal teen that was in his moody phase.

As he got far enough from the school, where there were only houses lining the path of the sidewalk, he finally decided that it was safe enough to take off his mask.

After all, although he was in a residential area, practically nobody was outside at the moment due to the burning heat of the afternoon, signaling that spring had already ended and that summer was about to hit with its full glory.

But, strangely enough, the boy wasn't sweating at all, not even a single drop, as he continued to walk home in that overbearing hoodie of his.

Finally, after some time, the youth pulled down the hood of his hoodie and looked up at the sky.

Seeing a murder of crows above him, he smiled, continuing to bob his head to his music.

But, after some time, the youth got bored of watching the birds.

Opening his mouth wide open, he yawned loudly.

But, you see, this youth was extremely unfortunate.

After all, today was his birthday, but both his parents were overseas right now, their jobs. having taken them out of the country during their son's most precious time.

Yet, this wasn't the reason the youth was considered unfortunate.

It was actually due to the fact that, as he opened his mouth to let out that yawn, one of the crows above decided to let go of all the impurities that it had been storing up.

One thing led to another, and, well, the "impurities" started descending from the heavens.

After a quick few seconds, the "impurities" landed directly in the youth's throat.

Immediately bending forward, the youth started hacking away like there was no tomorrow.

And, unfortunately for him, there really was no tomorrow, as the youth completely choked on the bird shit and died.

Closing his eyes, falling into the darkness, all the youth could do was ask the world, "Why?"

And that was the end of the youth's journey on this Earth, but, who would have ever thought that there was indeed something after death?

And, fortunately for the youth, he was one of the "chosen" ones.

"Welcome to the reincarnation path!" Shouted a profound voice out of the darkness that the youth was currently suspended in.

"So, I died and will get reincarnated?" Asked the youth.

"Yes and no. You see, as your death was that funny, I, the ever magnanimous Rob, have decided to send you to a few worlds, in hopes of better entertainment of course."

"And, what do I get for doing this?"

"A second chance at life!"

"Why would I want that?"

"Don't you want to live again?" Asked Rob, clearly confused.

"No... One life of suffering and neglect are enough for me, I just want to be left in peace, and this darkness, this is where I have felt the most peace in a long time."

"You call death peace?"

"Yes, she is quite soothing after all."

"She's nothing like that! She's a damn bitch that can't even do her job properly! I mean, look at you! You were supposed to die on XX XXXX XXXX, but nooooooo, she had to kill you early and left me with the job of cleaning up after her mess!"

"Wait, I wasn't supposed to die?"

"No! And that's why I'm stuck with this job! Rearranging random souls is so not my calling."

"..."

"Whatever, let's get to the point kid. Your task is simple, as you weren't supposed to die, we'll be letting you go to a few different worlds with a quest in each world that you have to complete, simple right?"

"Why are these tasks necessary to complete?" Asked the inquisitive youth.

"I don't know, go ask Zob over in the managing department if you want an answer. All I know is that you need to go, and that's what I'll do."

"Okay."

"Really? You're fine with it?" After all, you just said that you wanted to stay here, but now you want to go to another world just like that?"

"Yes. If you want to ask why, it's because I know you'll make me anyways."

"Well, that's also right, you're a smart boy."

"..."

"So, anything else?"

"Well yes, you have to get your powers."

"And I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that they've already been decided for me."

"Of course!"

"Why am I not surprised." The youth could be seen shaking his head even in the absolute darkness of the death dimension.

"You will have 3 perks when going into each world." The entity named Rob decided to pretend like they hadn't heard the last statement and pushed on.

"You'll be able to keep the memories of your life on Earth, the memories of your previous life on Earth, the memories of the body you get transmigrated into, and any memories that you gain during your travels. This is applicable to each new world."

"Your second perk is that you will get the chance to become powerful somewhere in the following week after you enter the world. Of course, this power will always come with an extreme pain due to the law of equivalent exchange, so, it will be up to you to decide if you will accept the powers that you are given. Also, you will be able to bring your powers from world to world."

"The third perk is that you get to bring one more person with you from one world to the next. So, after the first world you will have one person traveling with you, after the second world, two people traveling with you, and so on. Of course, they get the same perks as you except for the remembering stuff on Earth thing, as they were never there, and also, they won't necessarily be with you when you go between worlds, so keep that in mind."

"That's really all, do you have any questions?"

"Yes, are there any bad things?"

"Of course there are, but if I told you now, there would be no fun, now would there?"

"Well, that's it for the time I have, bye."

And with that, the youth was pushed out of the death dimension, and entered an unexpecting world, one that was never ready for him, and the monster that slept soundly inside of him.

Taishō Period - Japan:

In a small traditional Japanese house in the middle of an unnamed village deep in the snowy mountains, a youth opened his eyes, his red pupils glistening, illuminated under the soft moonlight.

Sleeping next to the youth was his twin sister, one that shared the same features as him, just, she had a more "feminine" look to her.

The youth then slightly frowned, as he remembered.

'I was transmigrated.'

The youth then started sorting through his jumbled memories, silently, as to not disturb his sleeping sister.

Now, let us talk about the youth's appearance, as the youth had a very particular appearance, one that would attract gazes everywhere.

His snow white hair and red eyes were already eye-catching, but, that combined with the overall natural beauty of the youth was a deadly combination.

But, now, here was the unfortunate part.

This deadly beauty, combined with the fact that his sister was his only family, and that they only had each other since they were little kids, had created quite a problematic relationship between the two siblings.

You see, as the youth finally finished sorting out his memories, he couldn't help but gasp and whisper something into the atmosphere around him.

"I can't believe I just did my sister."

A/N: Well, this is going to be the first fan-fic that I will take seriously. I have already planned the first 4 worlds out, so, there won't be any of the seriously problematic number of plot holes that my last fan-fic contained.

Well, enjoy!
