Chronicles of Another World

There was a young man that lived in constant despair, often he wondered where it all gone wrong. Though he couldn't exactly quite pinpoint it, as things had never gone in his favor. Was it his choice to be born in a world so warped that allowed him to suffer? Despite trying to escape his ill-gotten fate it was futile. Perhaps it was destiny that he'd leave the world just as he came into it, alone. On a day like any other, beautiful without a cloud in sight, bright and sunny. Lay a young disheveled young man, perhaps in another life he would have blossomed into an idol with his handsome looks, his charming and wavy curly hair contrasting his sharp features. Though what good does mentioning this do for the young man, his malnutrition and years on the street have worn him down. A beggar like any other, his will that once burned brightly had dwindled into a dying ember, flickering and ready to go out any second. At this point there was no direction left for the young man, after all these years he'd finally succumbed to death's sweet temptation. He'd finally found his way out, in his final hours he was laying by a dumpster despondent. His eyes glazed over, his breathing became shallower by the second, with chills beginning to spread throughout his body. His voice felt weak and raspy, a voice that once screamed against the injustice of the world, one that rebelled against fate. That voice had grown hoarse and tired, during these last hours it had been silenced. He stopped struggling. Why cling on to life? This was his destiny, forgotten and uncared for the majority of his life, such a world would continue to spin, with his death at best being mentioned in an article clipping. Strangely enough, however, this wouldn't be his last moments. Ironically, he was finally noticed and it was by an unfathomable being, one that'd grant him a different escape. Was it a new fate rewritten, or a coincidence?

The Jade Gate

Re-Write: I am planning to re-write this story. Please provide feedback on my thread: https://forum.webnovel.com/d/12881-re-writing-the-jade-gate-please-provide-advise Story Synopsis: Born into a wealthy family, Leonardo Escarra should have had a carefree life of pleasure. Unfortunately, a debilitating physical illness made him lose hope. Trapped in a broken body, Leonardo sought escape through virtual reality games, eventually creating a fulfilling virtual life within the popular Continent of Heroes multiplayer game. When the Continent of Heroes game finally went offline, Leonardo used his vast wealth and hired talented guild mates to create a private server to house the Jade Gate Guild’s prize creation; Jade Gate City. A player-built settlement and dungeon which acted as meeting place for current guild members and a tribute for those who had passed on. Due to an operation, Leonardo missed the private server’s opening day. When he finally managed to log on, instead of appearing at the Jade Gate City Portal Room, Leonardo found himself in a cold dark cave. He was given a Quest; to rebuild Jade Gate City. However, this world is more than it seems. What Leonardo at first believes is a simple private server is in truth a real world and his mission to rebuild Jade Gate City is just the start of an epic journey that straddles multiple realities. _________________________ Author notes: I wrote this for Writing Prompts Contest #16: Kingdom Building. Like my previous writing prompts, this story has been created for me to experiment with my writing style. In this instance, I am deviating from my traditional Third Person Limited perspective and attempting to write from a Third Person Omniscient perspective.
