25 Chapter 24

"Hello everyone," Daniel greeted the members of the board as they finished their meeting. "If you don't mind my taking a minute of your time today…" he trailed off, already standing straight, so he could start.

"Something the matter?" The president of his firm asked.

"Yes," Daniel deadpanned, serious, "I'm an impossibly jealous guy, you know?"

"I don't see your point here," the vice-president stated, looking perplexed.

"Well, Mr. Larson, I'm getting there, if you would just let me finish," Daniel responded sarcastically, knowing that with all the great work he had done in the past, there was absolutely nothing he could do to him, and because the president absolutely adored him. "I do not appreciate the fact that your nephew hit on my fiancée."

Mr. Larson scoffed at that, "You must be joking."

"You have a fiancée, right here, in the firm?" The president looked genuinely happy and surprised for him.

"Seriously, everybody knows I've been seeing Natasha since her college days," Daniel gave him a pointed look, "And I've proposed last week."

"Congratulations are in order then."

"Only if I stay in the firm," Daniel shrugged.

"What do you mean?" The president paled, rising to his feet.

"Not only did Natasha – whom you should know under the name of Miss Daniels – refuse all his offers to have a drink or go on a secret date, but I also gave that silly boy a warning before. And yet, he continues," he let out the last word in outrage, "I find that highly offending. It's either me or that newbie nephew of yours, Mr. Larson," he nodded his way curtly. "You have one week to decide. Thank you for your attention."

He was about to leave when he added, "Oh, and if he decides to continue pursing Natasha during this week, my fiancée will file for sexual harassment and a restraining order."

He nodded curtly once more before exiting the conference room, leaving behind him perplexed higher-ups.

He didn't have to wait long before getting an answer for he received a call in the evening by the boss.

"Hey ugly," Daniel greeted, "how can I help you?"

"He's leaving," he told him without preamble, "You and I can both sleep soundly tonight."

"Like I'd lose any sleep over a stupid newbie who doesn't know how to take no for an answer. If you had chosen Larson's side, you know I'd have found a job at the drop of a hat," Daniel shrugged before taking a bite of his pizza.

"I know you get offers from other firms all the time. Don't rub it in my face."

"If that's all, ugly, I'm kind of eating right now," Daniel told him jokingly.

"Okay, bon appétit. And good night."

"Good night to you too."

"Seriously," Natasha started hesitantly, "You didn't have to take it so far."

Daniel gave her a sideway look and told her in a sarcastic tone, "Yeah, I should just watch him get my fiancée, why don't I?"

"No one's getting me or to me," she argued right back, softly caressing his face, "I am yours, and have been yours since the moment you arrogantly pushed the door of the flat, that night, five years ago."

"Well, I'm not into sharing," he told her before softly kissing the palm of her hand which was still on his face.

She smiled at him. "I know that, and neither am I. I love you."

"And I love you," he responded with a smile. "Still, I do not regret getting that brat fired."

Natasha just shook her head at him. "You're too jealous for your own good."

"Look who's talking. You still can't stand the sight of Vivian," was his light retort.

His fiancée pouted at that.

"Here we are sitting in this lovely hot bath, and we ended up talking about work." Daniel brought her flesh against him and told her in a gruff voice, "I'd rather we did not talk at all."

"I like that idea," she smiled wickedly at him before starting to trail kisses down his abdomen.
