Prologue - The figure hidden in the mist

The air vibrated with power and the earth shook with large tremors as various powers fought each other with increasing ferocity.

If seen from above, the land would resemble a chaotic painting filled with random colors as attacks possessing various elements were flung from one end of the canvas to another.

From mages dressed in enchanted robes chanting spells that gave birth to devastating elemental calamities to warriors wielding powerful swords tearing through the ranks of the enemy like unrivaled war gods.

A blanket of projectiles covered the sky as rangers went into action with inhuman dexterity and invisible figures could be occasionally sighted as rouges snuck around the battlefield trying to take a potential enemy unawares.

A monk flew through the air and with a defiant roar, manifested a large avatar of himself that tore through the enemy ranks, reaping life like wheat. But immediately after, large circles of holy light enveloped the assaulted group as a team of clerics cast various healing spells and buffs.

BOOM!!

In a particular corner of the battlefield, a large brutish man wielding a battle-axe grinned roguishly as his attack missed his opponent by a small margin.

He hefted his axe from the hole it created in the ground just in time to block the counter attack as various sword phantoms tore towards his direction.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

With inhuman reaction speed, he blocked a majority of the sword strikes but his large figure betrayed him as numerous cuts appeared on his body.

His opponent, a swordsman wearing a dark green leather armor and wielding a pitch black blade showed a taunting smirk as he looked at his bare chested opponent.

But the expression on his face seemed to tense a bit as he executed a complex footwork that seemed to make him vanish from sight.

SLIU! SLIU! SLIU!

The air whistled as three arrows found their way deep into the ground where he originally stood.

The large brutish man shrugged off his wounds as he lifted his large battle-axe and swung it around in a circle transforming into a dangerous whirlwind of blades.

DANG! DANG! DANG! DANG!

The sounds of numerous arrows been knocked out of the air was heard as the whirlwind tore through the field like a small calamity.

As soon as the arrows ended, the whirlwind stopped and the large man appeared. Using the momentum from the whirlwind, he flung his battle-axe towards the direction the arrows came from.

The axe cut through the air unopposed as it approached a green haired elf wielding a light brown bow.

Alarm flashed through the elf's eyes as she took a large leap backwards that took her high into the air. As if possessed, the axe followed her into the air with a curve as it closed in quickly.

Gritting her teeth, she took out a heavy metal arrow from the quiver behind her and quickly pulled the bow string into a full arc.

BOOM!!!

The bow glowed with a faint light as the arrow flew from the string with a large explosion that sent her flying farther into the air.

CLANG!

The metal arrow met the battle-axe in an explosive clash as the two weapons fought for supremacy in midair.

The two weapons seemed to pause for a bit before the arrow was sent up at an angle while the battle-axe flew towards the ground, both attacks neutralized.

But instead of smashing into the ground, the battle-axe instead changed directions as it flew into the waiting hands of the large man.

The elf had just released a sigh of relief when she heard a low voice behind her.

"Hey…."

Following her instincts, she lifted her bow behind her just in time as a pitch black sword cut towards her back.

KLANG!

The sword met the bow with a loud clash as the attack sent the elf thundering towards the ground.

The swordsman that had just appeared behind her still had a smirk on his face as he looked at the pitiful figure.

Unaware of the attack that was flying towards him.

SLICE!

When he noticed the attack, it was already too late. A large wave of energy shaped like a blade tore through his chest.

Although the dark green armor he wore blocked most of the attack, blood still spurted out from the wound as he was also sent to the ground.

"GHAHAHAHAHA!" the large brutish man laughed out loud when he saw his attack hit.

The elf had smashed into the ground with a low thud but had quickly recovered, a dim green glow enveloping her body.

As for the swordsman, he waved his sword a few times and a pitch-black shadow emerged from the ground swallowing him whole and bringing him safely to the ground.

The three figures stood quietly, watching each other's movements warily while plotting their next move.

The war was raging in the background with unrelenting intensity but it didn't matter to any of the three, their only focus was the other two in front of them.

As the intensity of the stand-off reached an unbearable tempo, the entire battlefield shook as two large figures appeared in the sky attracting the attention of everyone in the field.

WOOSH!

Mist flooded the entire battlefield as the two figures slowly descend to the ground.

Everyone paused as they stared up at the nearly 60 meter tall figures shrouded in mist, one seemed to be covered in flames while sounds of flowing water could be heard from the other.

The three opponents were no exception as they stared up in awe. The swordsman had the smirk wiped off his face as he saw the two pairs of eerie light that stared down at them with an emotionless gaze.

"What in the fu-"

BOOM!!!!

A large boom echoed throughout the entire battlefield as the two figures landed on the ground, sending large tremors through the ground that caused mass destruction.

Without giving anyone the time to recover, a large fluctuation of mana occurred as the two pairs of light glowed brighter.

The huge figure covered in flames released a burst of fire that covered half of the battlefield while the other figure released a large wave of water, enveloping the other half.

There was no resisting this power as anyone caught in the attacks died instantly. The two attacks only lasted a few seconds but that was enough to overhaul the course of the war.

The battlefield was devastated as corpses were strewn all over the broken ground. Thick mist enveloped the ground to the sky, hiding the brutal destruction underneath.

A thick layer of shadows appeared at a corner of the wrecked battlefield as the swordsman appeared looking beat up and barely alive.

"Huff! Huff!"

He had been caught up in a particularly large wave and was quick enough to activate a skill that narrowly saved his life.

He could feel some of his broken bones piercing into his flesh but he gritted his teeth and took out a blood red potion, greedily gulping it down.

As he felt the reliving coolness that flooded his body as a result of the potion, he finally calmed down enough to observe his surroundings.

That was when he heard it, footsteps.

TAP! TAP! TAP!

The footsteps were slow and measured like the owner was just going for a casual walk.

It was made more eerie by the silence of the battlefield and the mist which seemed to rebound the sound making it difficult for the swordsman to tell where it was coming from.

The swordsman kept looking around warily as he tried to figure out if it was friend or foe, he wasn't in a good situation right now and his injuries would take long to heal.

It wasn't long before he saw it, a pair of emerald green eyes that glowed with light were floating in the mist.

Not long after, the silhouette of a tall figure was outlined in the mist as the green eyes seemed to lock on him.

The swordsman felt fear grip him as his heart tensed!

The figure walked leisurely, hands tucked into the pockets of a fitted robe and a long tail swishing playfully behind him.

The swordsman gripped his sword tightly as he watched the silhouette slowly approach.

He might not have been sure before but he knew now, that was definitely not a friend!

The hidden figure finally stopped a distance from him. Still too far away for him to make out the features of the person except for the glowing green eyes.

Suddenly he heard a low voice that nearly made him jump.

"You....."

The swordsman couldn't take the chance as he executed a complex footwork and shot back in retreat. He didn't know why but he felt an unprecedented danger from the figure hidden in the mist.

The figure's eyes watched him calmly as he retreated, seemingly uninterested in following him.

Just as the swordsman breathed a sigh of relief, a large pair of glowing eyes suddenly appeared high above the figure with a flash.

DRRRRRRRR!!

A low rumble echoed out as the large pair of eyes locked on to him.

"What the hell!"

The swordsman couldn't help but yell out loud.

He willed his mana and activated a skill, his body was suddenly enveloped by numerous shadows as he tried to make his escape.

But suddenly.

WHOOSH!!!

He suddenly felt his surroundings get hotter as a large burning palm tore out of the mist above him. Pieces of flaming rubble fell from the large house sized palm as it slowly descended towards him like a fiery judgment.

The swordsman looked up at the palm, despair riddling his expression as he knew there was no way he would survive this.

He turned his gaze to the large glowing eyes up high and then to the figure hidden in the mist, the tail behind slowly swaying as he stared back at him.

"ARGGHHH!!!!!!" the swordsman screamed out loud in unwillingness.

"Damn you!" he cursed at the figure even as the blazing palm descend even closer.

The figure didn't even flinch, the emerald green eyes still glowing faintly.

"DAMN YOU!!!!!!"
