1 Murder of the Red

When the goal became a rule,

when the rule became a religion,

when religion became the truth,

that was "Singularity".

A long time ago, after humans had found that they were the only intelligent species in the universe, they developed colonies, and people came across planets.

Humans finally created the 'Singularity' that people could live happily under the emperor's power. The holy clan that brought peace to the universe after the chaotic wars thousand years ago. Their bloodline still was respected and became the symbol of power and belief as to the religion. The absolute power like a god with the magnificent AI technology made the royal family could conquer the victory, and lead the universe peacefully.

As far as people felt happy, they had no question about what was going on behind the holy throne. Right or wrong, true or fault, there was no one care.

But…

It's a boring day in the universe, several cargo spaceships continued to stop at the port of Rigel, a planet that was far away from the mother earth. A young man was calling and he had decided what he was going to do tomorrow.

"That's all right, I'll see you tomorrow at the square, no, no problem, I'll go after I finish my shift, no one's going to suspect me," said Lucas before he hung up the phone.

He was Lucas Wilson, a normal worker of the cargo port, he was like many people who worked for money. At the port, he had a small room with three meals, the empire managed everything for everyone. No one had to think more about their financial problem. No one died because of the famine. It was the singularity; like a dream of humans' ancestors.

However, in his opinion, humans were not livestock, how could they only live and breathe. What was the value of humans in this era?

That may be the philosophy's question, but now, he still had to do his current job. That was his duty anyway.

But it was really boring. Until now, in this port, there was no danger or emergency event. Robots could deal with everything instead of humans; therefore, people abandoned many small processes and gave up. Like now, many workers had already decided to finish their works before time off. Lucas seemed unhappy, it wasn't their first time doing something irresponsibility like this.

"What's going to happen if anything's wrong before the next shift comes?" Lucas asked all of his colleagues, but no one was listening to him.

"Hey, why don't you think there're plenty of things to do, this's only a bullshit job for robots. Do you really want to work until you die? Don't be silly! Let's call it a day!" one of his seniors said, and now he moved closer to Lucas and looked in his eyes.

To be honest, Lucas hated it when people came closer to him and stared at his eyes.

"Stay away," Lucas said coldly.

"You've really beautiful eyes, maybe you should come with us tonight, living with protectors, it'll be easier for you, right?" he said and smirked while the others laughed.

Their motives were very clear. This was sexual harassment!

Lucas furious stared at them; he knew that they always tried to insult him. This was not the first time, and it was not going to be the last as well. The problem was his eyes.

His eyes were red like a ruby, it was possible for many mutants in the universe to have this colour; but his eyes were too bright, too remarkable. When he was young, the brother of the church who took care of him always warned him to be careful. The red was the symbol of the ancient demon, the devil who wished to flirt with everyone. There were lots of people who still believed in this thing.

"Don't touch me, stay away," Lucas ordered, and suddenly he pressed the man's wrist severely, "or let me break your wrist!"

"How dare you!"

"I can do it, you know it," said he.

Lucas could do it, in the past; he almost killed people who had tried to insult or harass him. Sometimes people forgot this fact because of his slim appearance, but now these men had already noticed.

At the moment that Lucas let him go, all of them angrily stared at him, but no one wanted to challenge him again. They all ran away and left Lucas alone.

"Bastard," said he.

Because of these eyes, the brother taught him many skills; how to survive, how to fight back, and how to be strong. He wasn't going to be prey.

However, it was like they had said, their jobs as normal labour of the Colony Port had nothing to do. Robots already did everything; their deep learning programing was more than perfect. Humans only stayed here to confirm that AI had no suspension.

Everyone knew, but they had to accept this job. It was the job for uneducated labour like them. Although everything seemed perfect for the singularity, people were still different. Not everyone was equal, human rights may guarantee the basic needs of humans, but absolutely, not social status.

"What's that?"

That moment, he felt something strange at the engine of one of the cargo spaceships, he walked closer and saw something inside, it was a grey big bag that dropped from the storage.

"It's too big, isn't it?" Lucas felt uncomfortable, then he stepped back and stared for a moment.

Suddenly, the big bag moved a little bit. Not hesitating, he pointed his tranquillizer pistol and shoot!

Surprisingly, the big bag disappeared from his eyes, and something attacked his back. Lucas dodged and fired at the same time, but that shadow was too fast. That moment, he felt something strange again, his body couldn't move anymore, he felt cold, cold as ice in the freezer.

He didn't understand; what happened?

"Wow, I'm so impressed with this," that was the sound of a man.

When Lucas could turn back, there was no bag anymore, but a silver hair guy with an unsafe smile. He was tall, handsome, and had beautiful blue eyes. He wore a pair of jeans and a normal grey T-shirt with a black leather jacket.

"I thought no one care too much at the port, it's dining time, isn't it?" the guy said with his untrusted smile.

"I'm a worker here, it's my duty, raise your hands or I'll shoot you!" Lucas pointed the pistol at him.

"Calm down boy, I'm not going to do anything, I know that you're not going to fire a normal smuggler, like?" said he.

"You're not a normal smuggler! How could you stay in that big bag and come with the auto-spaceship!", actually no machines could notice his life signal.

"I just let myself in and try to find the best way to enter the port," the guy still smiled and said something meaningless. Lucas could feel that this guy wasn't normal. He didn't want to say the truth.

Who was he?

However, suddenly, the alarm set off, and the red signal appeared on the electronic notice board. Even robots stopped working.

"What's going on?" Lucas looked around; he didn't know what was happening right now.

"What's your name?" Immediately, the guy asked a very strange question.

"What?" Lucas didn't understand, but before he could think, his mouth had already spoken, "Lucas…"

"o.k. my dear Lucas, I think you should run away right now, it seems I'm late," the man said and sighed, but there was no regret. He still smiled.

"What did you do…"

"I didn't do anything as I've said, I was late," he repeated, "If you don't go right now, I can't guarantee your safety, this's my kindness for your honesty and bravery, my dear Lucas" he confirmed his name again, and it made Lucas seemed a little bit ashamed with no reason.

"You talked too much!" he shouted back.

That seconds, there was some strange sound from the office, Lucas decided to pay no attention to the guy, immediately, he ran to follow the sound.

Only the guy stayed and sighed again.

"I had already warned you," said he.

Lucas surely didn't understand what was going on, but he couldn't neglect it. The brother was taught to him when he was a child that humans had their kindness, and that emotion made us different from robots. Now, the brother was not beside him anymore, but he still wanted to believe in his doctrine.

He followed the sound with his heart, he thought that he may help someone, somebody may need him.

Suddenly, when he ran into the office, he was shocked. Now, he couldn't move, he was dazed, and he felt he was going to collapse. Maybe, he shouldn't come here.

Maybe, he mistook.

"What was going on…?"

He couldn't believe what he was seeing right now!

However, before he could do anything, some people screamed, when he turned back, a woman stared at him, and she screamed!

"Murder! Here's murder!"

"No! I'm not!"

That moment, Lucas understood what that guy warned him!
