56 Warmth

It was as if they were frozen in time. Couples of seconds now and no word from any of them.

He kept doing that. Looking at her keenly like he was trying to guage out something from her. His silence made it more awkward and terrifying for poor kamlyn, coupled with that face of his.

Kamlyn who couldn't bear it any longer brought her head down as expected, staring at her feet. She breathed in and out before raising her head again, behold that look didn't change. He kept scrutinizing her.

She raised the tray towards him trying to divert his attention from her face, which actually worked.

Ethan stared at the tray when she stretched it out to him, he gave it a long stare before his eyes went back to kamlyn and she immediately bowed her head when his gaze met hers.

"Come in."

Her eyes almost fell off from what she just heard. Come in? no she just came to give him some drugs since he isn't okay. Before she could refuse he had already gone in leaving the door open for her.

She was reluctant to go in but she braced herself and step her first foot in. This was the first time she was entering into his room, a Man's bedroom. A man who isn't biologically related to her.

It felt real weird to her. She could see him going into his walk-in closet, obviously he was going to get something to put on. She pondered on where to place the tray so she could leave before he comes out.

She immediately placed it on the side bed stool close to his bed and was ready to sprint when the door open up. She halted, her small frame stilled instantly.

"Why aren't you Asleep by this time?" His deep voice rolled out.

She wasn't with her interactive tablet so she slowly turn to face him and unexpectedly he wasn't changed yet, he was still in his towel tied on his waist exposing the V line from his waist downwards.

Kamlyn instantly snapped herself out, why is her mind so corrupted. She blinked numerously trying to gain back her senses.

"Don't feel sleepy?" He asked her, his voice a little husky making her brain go numb.

She repeatedly bobbed her head up and down.

"Had dinner?" He asked again.

And she bobbed her head in response.

He strolled closer to her and when he was right in front of her, he could feel her tense body. He raised his hands and rubbed on her hair, just the way an elder brother will do to his younger sister.

Kamlyn eyes were closed when his hands touched her hair. It was so soothing that it calmed her unexpectedly.

"Go to bed, it's late." His voice broke her off, she snapped her eyes open, staring at him. She blink in realization and nodded. Her eyes caught sight of the medicine she dropped on the side stool, she pointed at it, wordlessly telling him not to forget to take his drugs.

He followed her hands to see the tray over there. A little smile that could not be seen almost made an appearance on his face. "Mhmm I won't forget." He told her.

Kamlyn nodded before she turned around to get going.

"Goodnight." He said without even knowing when it escaped his lips, but he did well to mask his own surprise.

Kamlyn smiled sneakily before going out and closing the door behind her.

When she left, he looked at his palm that was still feeling the warmth of her hair, he saw the tray of drugs still laying on the side bed stool. He smiled genuinely for the very first time in years. When he realized he immediately siezed his smile putting on his stoic front again. He raked his hands through his hair before going over to take the drugs his 'Sister' brought for him.

After taking the pain killers he went on to put on his pyjamas and head to bed.

Kamlyn fell flat on her bed when she reached her room. 'Phew! I did it.' She was literally thanking her stars that she didn't faint all this while. She doesn't know why she find it hard to interact him the way she does with others.

Maybe it's not just her it's everyone. They all find it hard to talk to him it's just hers is a little bit serious. That was the conclusion she came up with.

She closed her eyes thoughts of her parents came flooding back, she could tell that her depression was acting up again. Tears started streaming down her cheeks. 'Mom, Dad... I miss you.' She thought.

Silent cries was all that echoed in the room coupled with her sniffling. She cried till she slept off.
