THAT CAN'T BE

A light knock was heard on the door waking kamlyn from her sweet sleep. "Miss, Mr and Mrs Lu are waiting for you at the dinner table." Kamlyn heard the voice of the maid who was sent to wake her up. Tiredly twisting and turning, she finally got up but was still seated. Letting out a yawn she slowly got down from bed, deciding to wash up before going to the dinning hall, reason being that she was a mess right now. She gently strolled her way to the bathroom while staggering still from her sleepy and droopy eyes.

After cleaning up, Axel hurriedly came down for dinner feeling the pangs of hunger hitting him all round, he immediately took his seat while waiting for his share of the meal, But Mrs Lu who was in charge kept adding every single dish in one particular plate, he suddenly felt like she was purposely targeting him today of all days. Looking round the table he saw all plates were occupied with food placed in their respectful seat positions making it easy to identify which was who's. Only his was left unattended to. An additional dinner chair was added making him to think hard on who it could be, he opened his lips to ask his mother but stopped when he suddenly remembered the conversation between his parents earlier. He couldn't help but wonder who this important guest was. Sighing out loudly he decided to wait and find out but right now what really matters was his stomach, rubbing on it repeatedly he finally grumbled out. "Mom! what of mine, I am really hungry you know." He complained childishly. Mrs Lu only offered him a gaze which didn't even last up to 5 seconds before completely looking away paying no heeds to his foolish ranting.

Being ignored by his mother who normally seeks his attention. Axel felt shocked, he couldn't believe what he just witnessed. He was distracted from his shocked when he heard a couple of steps descending down to the dinning hall Shifting his gaze up, he saw Mr Lu descending down, letting out a disappointed sigh he glanced back at his empty plate. "Exercise patience, come on you can do this." Axel encouraged himself releasing a loud breath.

Mr Lu quickly picked up his cutlery after taking his seat. He glanced around the table like he was expecting to see someone. Before he could ask his intending question he head a foreign and steady footstep approaching.

All eyes were drawn to her as she slowly descended the stairs. Approaching with a wide smile gracing her beautiful lips, she was interrupted half way by Mrs Lu who Walked towards her holding her hand while bringing her closer to the dinning table. Kamlyn immediately rushed over to Mr Lu throwing herself at him in a hug. "Good evening uncle." She said giggling causing a chuckle to escape from the mouths of the Lu couple. "How are you dear. I head you were taking a nap when I arrived." Mr Lu said patting her head fondly. "I am great uncle, I am so sorry I wasn't available to greet you when arrived." Kamlyn replied with a small smile. "Oh child don't worry about that, I know you had a long day so it was good you decided to take a rest. How is your new room I hope you like it?" Mr Lu asked in caring tone with a fond smile. "I love it uncle, thanks alot." kamlyn replied in a loud voice almost squealing with excitement. Mr and Mrs Lu laughed loudly at her childishly behavior. "It is alright child anything for our princess." Mr Lu said reminding kamlyn of her parents. "I really miss Mom and Dad." Kamlyn said in sad tone. Directing a stern look to Mr Lu, Mrs Lu quickly walked over to her raising her hands to start comforting her but was interrupted by kamlyn next words. "Don't worry aunty, I won't cry anymore." She said with a smile immediately easing Mrs Lu worries. "Dear Gabriel yang sent his regards earlier when he came over to drop kamlyn off, at that time you were still at the office so he sent his regards before leaving." Mrs Lu hurriedly passed on the greetings. "Oh I will give them a call later, kamlyn dear have you spoken to your parents since they left?" Mr Lu asked. "No uncle I haven't, I planned to do that before coming down for dinner, but considering I will keep you guys waiting, I decided to call them after dinner, it will also give them enough time to settle down." kamlyn replied to Mr Lu. "Ok dear no problem that's good." Mr Lu replied. "Eat up dear." Mrs lu said putting more food than the already were inside her plate.

Axel who was forgotten by the corner just stared at the family drama. Keeping his gaze on kamlyn, he wondered where he had seen this face, suddenly and event clicked in his mind. Remembering the gala celebration of the Lu corporation, when a young girl who he thinks wasn't even up to 18 caught him making out in a hidden corner at the event. Widening his eyes at the sudden realization. He didn't know she was familiar with his parents, so she was the daughter of the yang's, she was kamlyn yang the only heir in the country who was not known by the public but her name alone could cause jealousy and envy.

Feeling someone's gaze on her, Kamlyn slowly turned her eyes to the silhouette sitting by the left side of the table whom she chose to ignore while running over to Mr Lu earlier, meeting her gaze with his, a wave of shock suddenly hit her, remembering the uneventful encounter she had with this man sitting right adjacent to her. She felt a shiver run down her spine imagining how her stay here will be if this stranger happens to be here also. Ignorant about the tension going on with the other two in the table, Mrs Lu happily introduced. "Kamy dear, this is my youngest son, Axel lu." Mrs Lu said with a broad smile.

"Nice to meet you." Axel said stretching his hands out gesturing a hand shake with a mocking smirk on his face. "Nice…nice to meet you." Kamlyn replied reciprocating the hand shake. "Shouldn't it be your pleasure, miss yang." Axel said teasingly not erasing his smirk one bit. "Shut your trap and concentrate on your food. You were almost dead a while ago, where did you suddenly get the strength to tease her." Mrs Lu said giving Axel a slap on his head. "Aww Mom! you shouldn't be doing that okay. I was just welcoming her that's all." Axel said rubbing his head while looking annoyed at Mrs Lu before directing his playful gaze back to Kamlyn at the other line of his sentence, making her gulped down her food with a scared expression.

Within the family drama a calm and steady step was heard, turning towards the direction of the stairs everyone was shocked to see who it was coming down.

Ethan stepped into his room immediately he arrived from the office with Mr Lu, after taking his shower and done with everything, he landed straight on his bed preparing for his sleep while rubbing his forehead as he had stressful day resulting in his migraine. He silently sat up, reaching his hands towards the drawer attached to his bedside table. he pulled it out picking up the pain relievers, he quickly took it in his mouth before swallowing with glass of water. Lying back down in hopes of catching some sleep, but disappointedly after waiting for minutes his eyes haven't dropped close. Sighing loudly he decided to go down for some fresh air expecting the rest to be done with thier dinner already.

Everyone were shocked and surprised seeing Ethan out of his room by this time of the night. kamlyn who was busy eating her meal happily halted feeling the sudden quietness from everyone, confused about their sudden silence she raised her gaze to where theirs was directed at in order to find the source of the silence. She was slightly dazed seeing a young man who had the same features as the Lu's youngest son but on an entirely different level, pointing out the resemblance she came to the conclusion that he must be the Lu's oldest son Ethan Lu.

Darting his gaze to the people he thought will be in their respectful rooms by now, until his gaze came across a little girl obviously a teenager seated by the side of his father. Their gaze met, but only for a second before they each turned around. Ethan continued his steps outside the Lu mansion. Leaving them to complete their dinner.

After dinner kamlyn picked up her phone dialing Mrs yang's line but it was unreachable, She then tried Mr yang's line but the results were the same. "They must have already arrived and settled by now let me try one more time." Kamlyn muttered to herself while repeating her actions, but still ended up with the same results. "I guess they are tired so they went to bed. I will call them first thing tomorrow morning then."

The next morning was a day of chaos in the Lu mansion, Mr and Mrs Lu could be seen seated with a grave expression on their faces, Mrs Lu was already in tears. "What are we going to do, are we going to let her know?" Mrs Lu said sobbing furiously. "Sigh I don't think now is the right time." Mr Lu replied. "But…" Mrs stopped her sentence halfway as she heard a loud running step approaching knowing fully well it was kamlyn she quickly wiped her tears dry standing up immediately. "Good morning aunt, good morning uncle." Kamlyn said while fiddling her phone with an anxious expression. "Aunt, uncle I have been trying to reach mom and dad earlier but they are not picking up." Kamlyn complain. "Don't worry about that dear we spoke some hours ago they are alright it's just that they are extremely busy okay." Mrs Lu said with her barely normal voice almost exposing herself. "Oh okay aunt if it so I will call them later then. What's wrong Aunt?" Kamlyn asked noticing Mrs Lu isn't as vibrant as she used to be. "Nothing dear I just caught a cold last night…"

Mrs Lu was interrupted by the newscaster who stated that a private plane with a number plate xxx crashed during midnight due to the bad weather. Immediately hearing the news kamlyn felt like her whole world just came crashing down. "No! this can't be" Was all she said before collapsing.
