9 Clairvoyants

How many times today was Waze going to be startled? Surely she'd had enough?

"A clairvoyant?!" Clairvoyance was regarded as one of the most powerful gifts to have, if it was cultivated correctly. And considering she ran a cultivation center, Waze could guess it was. Clairvoyants were essentially described as "all seeing". They could perceive events all around them, though it was rarely completely clear and they often couldn't pinpoint certain events. They also could, on some level, see into the future. However, it was described less as a complete vision and more as a feeling, or flashes of a vision. Still, it was a powerful ability to have. The most influential people in the world were led by clairvoyants. Clairvoyants were also known to be experts at cultivation and mastering/ controlling abilities. No wonder this woman ran a cultivation center.

"Indeed. I had seen a powerful being coming my way for quite some time now, something akin to a god. However, it appeared in the form of a young girl. Still, you hold the power of a god at your finger tips. I can see clearly what you can become."

Waze felt more confident now. If a clairvoyant said it, it must be true. But she also knew she needed to have complete confidence in herself, and not just the words of a clairvoyant. Despite all this, she was still eager to learn- to get better, stronger, more powerful. To change the world.

"What do I need to do?"

"Are you prepared to go to great lengths to achieve this power? It will be a long and laborious journey. It will take lots of strength and resilience."

"Luckily for me, resilience is one of my few shining traits. I'm sure I want to do this." Norris gave a wise smile as if she knew that Waze would say that.

"You will undergo three types of training. Firstly, physical training. You will strengthen your body and learn a variety of martial arts. Second, ability training. You will learn how to connect with your power and cultivate your gift. Third, mental training. You will learn the workings of typical fights by studying previous ones and grow knowledgeable on how to win a fight, as well as gain the confidence and mental determination to push through any challenge you face."

"Will you teach me all that?" Waze could understand Norris teaching her the ability cultivation but she certainly didn't look like a martial arts genius.

"Stand up, young one. Come here." Norris rose from her cushion and walked over to the vast empty space in the middle of the room that Waze assumed was used for martial arts training. Waze set down her bag with her phone in it on the table and walked over to where Norris was standing.

"Punch me." Norris looked at her with a completely serious expression on her face. Seriously? Could this day have any more surprises? Waze took a step back in slight shock.

"Um... why? I don't really want to hurt you...or get hurt..." Truthfully, Waze was also cautious herself. She knew never to underestimate a person. The weakest looking people could be stronger than one could imagine. Even though Norris didn't have any special hidden ability, who knows? She could be a martial arts genius after all.

"Just do it, Ms. Waze."

Waze relaxed into her boxing stance. She had done it some when she was younger, before her father had left. He had wanted her to be strong enough to defend herself until she got an ability. She hadn't kept at it dedicatedly throughout the years, but she still worked out and practiced her boxing form to vent her anger. So she threw her best punch at Norris's face. What happened next was unexpected.

She had thought that at most Norris would dodge and Waze would stumble forward a bit. Waze was prepared for that. Instead, Norris grabbed Waze's arm with one hand and the collar of her hoodie with another and flipped her over her shoulder. Waze felt her back hit the mat and all of the breath leave her lungs. Oh god, she really didn't need any more beatings on her body.

Waze winced and rolled onto her side. Pain flared all throughout her torso.

"Body... still... sensitive..." Waze managed to squeak out. Norris looked slightly surprised then helped Waze to her feet.

"My apologies, I forgot you were still beat up from using your ability for the first time. You act so natural despite it." Waze dusted off her clothes as Norris spoke and stretched a bit.

"It's fine. Fake it till you make it, am I right? All though 'making it' doesn't usually end up with me on the floor in pain."

Norris let out a belly laugh and went back to sit by the table. Waze joined her and took a good drink of her tea. The warmth in her chest helped soothe the pain in her body.

"As you can see, I know my fair share of martial arts. Although my body is not what it once was, my technique still rivals the best."

"I can see that... a good lesson to not underestimate my opponent. Though to be fair, I was already quite cautious to begin with." Waze let out a light laugh as she said this. Norris joined her.

"I think you will fit right in with my students. They will also help train you to become stronger. Now, are you wearing anything you can train in?" Waze was a bit taken aback, but in truth she was.

"Yeah, I suppose so. I've got on workout leggings and a sports bra... would that work?"

"Yes that would work just fine. Now why don't you get out of that stuffy hoodie and get ready for some training?"

"Right now? Like, as in, right right now?"

"Of course. You think you just came here for an introduction? Abbus did tell you, I'll work you down to the bone."

"Oh- uh okay. I'll just take it off then." Norris nodded and took another sip of her tea. Waze had a bit of trouble struggling out of her hoodie and didn't hear the door open until her shirt was already off. Staring at her from the door was a collection of five odd looking kids around her age. A handsome looking boy who was mostly already in the room spoke first.

"Oh... we got a new kid."
