PROLOGUE

The derecho storm, as people assumed when they huddled up in their homes that day, was beyond terrible.

The dark grey clouds brought lightening and rain like never seen before. There were no hurricanes or tornadoes, but Houses and buildings shook. The strong winds made the trees sway back and forth but couldn't uproot them.

The weather forecast team had it all wrong when they had predicted cloudy skies and a slight drop in temperature. You couldn't blame them, the storm came from no where. It was like something someone decided to release at the last minute.

Only a fool out of their mind would be caught in this heavy downpour. Whoever that fool was, had to be seeking death.

However that wasn't the case for the man that was fleeing for his life. The wind swayed him but he stood tall and proud. He even held onto the trees for support.

His clothes were wet and they stuck to his skin making him feel the painful coldness each time the wind blew and that was constantly ,but he didn't care. All he wanted to do was protect what he carried in his arms. After all he had made a promise and he intended to keep it.

When he was sure that he wasn't being followed anymore and the storm had died down a bit, he made his way to the first house he had spotted. Too weak to call for help or knock, he took the prostrating bow and covered what he carried with his body. The rest of the rain died on his body.

Despite his freezing state and his quivering body, he did everything in his power to make sure no rain reached what he carried. He died with a smile that night, knowing he had done his part. He had fulfilled his promise.

The next morning Mrs Meyers was the first one to wake up, as usual.

She had planned on grabbing her husband's newspaper thereafter proceeding with her chores.

She had barely taken more than two steps after opening the door before she ran back into the house screaming and awakening her husband.

She watched from the window inside the house as her husband examined the corpse found on their doorstep.

Mr Meyers, curious as to what the dead man was holding and protecting, managed to move the body and then proceeded to carefully get the object.

Whatever it is was loosely wrapped in a raincoat, like it needed to breathe.

Mr Meyers couldn't figure out why the man was drenched from head to toe yet he had held a raincoat.

He must have been protecting something. He thought.

Mr Meyers carefully unwrapped the raincoat and in it was a fluffy white woolen blanket with gold stars wrapped around a baby and a letter fell. Mr Meyers grabbed it before it could fall into the small puddle and then opened it.

Trust no one. It read.

Mrs Meyers was the first to gasp.

Somehow she had found herself standing next to her husband and looking down at the baby.

The tiny baby with a mop of brown hair opened her blue eyes and stared at the Meyers. She gave an adorable sneeze and then rubbed her tiny button nose with a tiny fist.

" Liliana get my car keys were going to the hospital"

That was what Silvermist had been told.

She had no Idea who the man was or where he had taken her from. Her parents tried to look for any missing person or baby but couldn't find anything, it's like both baby Silvermist and the mysterious man had never existed.

Her father still refused to let her take a peek at the letter. She felt she could perhaps find some sort of hidden message but he wouldn't hand it over.

His words were that when the time was right, she would get it.

She had heard that so many times that eventually she had stopped asking for the mysterious letter.

However one thing nagged her mind constantly, what did he mean by when the time was right?

Hopefully it was going to be something bad right?
