Just the start

In their shock Virgil and Angel had to ask again almost in unison

"You're kidding that was just a test?"

With a smirk appearing Connor leaned back against the desk

"You see we have to separate the weak from the strong. Don't worry we were following you the whole time. You were in no serious danger... unless your skills were lacking that is."

Virgil couldn't tell if this man just liked getting under his skin on purpose or if he was just terrible with people it could've been a little bit of both really

"Who the hell are you anyways?"

Connor never really liked getting straight to the point but seeing as this white haired teen wasn't having any of his usual shtick

"Your new teacher."

Closing her mouth Angel asks for her brother

"And them?"

pointing toward the four unknown youths by the doors who had just been standing there for a while now it seemed. The first to speak was a red headed boy even though he couldn't have been any older than 17 he had wrinkles around his eyes

'Maybe from squinting too much' Angel thought as he started to introduce himself

"Me, I'm Adam I've been here about two.. no make that three years now came from the boonies bit of a dead eye myself"

As he said the last part he started spinning a matte black pistol around in circles before tucking it back into his left side holster.

"How the hell do you shoot fire out of a pistol?"

"Les' just say I got surprises here an' there"

The next one to speak up was a petite girl standing just at 5'4 she had jet black hair complimented by a green fringe that went straight down between her eyes stopping at the tip of her nose. Despite her disposition she was actually quite the cheery girl

"I'm Jules and I'm the one who threw the rocks. I hope I didn't hit you two too hard but the goal was capture the flag and you two were the flag."

As she said the last part her foot popped up behind her. To her left was another female she was dressed in in a kimono however the top half was tied around her waist with white tape as a binder across her chest

"Its a pleasure to meet you" she bows low at the waist "my name is Kazaki Yoshihara, as for my ability you'll have to see on the battlefield."

It was an introduction to say the least the twins however, were slightly taken back by its formal nature something they'd only seen and read about in samurai movies and manga. To the right of Adam was a tall boy maybe barely breaking six feet in height. He had piercing brown eyes and blonde hair. With a raised scar going across the middle of his throat. When everyone looked towards him for his part of the introduction he just stood there.

One moment after almost being too awkward Adam decided to speak up for him.

"Oh yeah Chan don't talk much. If you haven't realized that pretty boy to my right is Chan "

After the introduction were done Connor decided it was time to move. He realized this would be as far as the small between them would go. He went on to inform them that they still were not out of the woods yet as they haven't completed every portion of their test. Of course Virgil not beating around the bush

"Wait did I hear you right? ONE of our tests. what does that mean?"

This time instead of Connor explaining it was Adam who gave just as much information, but it wasn't very helpful

"Jus' 'bout what it sounds like. There's more tests bucko"

Virgil was starting to like this situation less and less.

"You're already on my nerves don-"

Seeing this wouldn't help their situation Angel decided to speak up. She thought this would be her job as usual. Making sure her brother was level headed not starting fights and being the diplomatic voice of reason.

"So tell us, what are these tests?"

This time Connor decided to take back the reigns on the explanation.

"Basically, we'll test you on your abilities. We'll also asses your general strengths and weaknesses"

"Sounds pretty simple. When can we start the rest of them?"

"In an hour. I think that'll give Virgil sometime to recover."

He walks away for second suddenly stopping pretending he had suddenly remembered something

"Oh here's your sword back"

As he tosses the blade back to Virgil. He catches it with ease, brushes himself off, and straps it on his back. Angel gives her brother a sideways look that usually told him to be nice. He breathes in a deep sigh as this wasn't typically his strong suit especially after just getting beaten twice in one day by the same person.

"Thank you Connor."

He acknowledges walking out of the room letting the door close by itself the six students fall suit but, when they made it to the hallway their teacher was nowhere to be found. The students walked in silence seemingly aimlessly until Angels couldn't take the silence. It wasn't just awkward is was kind of a downer. They had finally made it to where they were supposed to be yet it was anticlimactic to say the least. So rather than walk just staring ahead she brings up a topic that they should all be able to have some say in.

"So Kazaki, can you tell us about Silver Sword

"What would you like to know"

It was more of a statement than a question the twins were quickly realizing that this Kazaki person was quite deadpan in her answers.

"Tell us what the school is about...The basics and what not. We were just told to come here to train and eventually join the resistance against the demons."

And so the six of them talked about the school the life of the towns people surrounded by the school it had made for decent conversation. Soon it had changed from idle small talk into talk about the others abilities more in depth and, how they had come to be at the school.

The reason why Adam and Chan were so close was because Adam had found Chan on the side of the road bloodied from the neck down they traveled for days trying to find him a healer. Eventually they did but, the healer told them he would never talk again. Through their journey Adam had learned how Chan would communicate seeing as he didn't know sign language however, he would use his hands to try to communicate it was more of a game of charades.

Jules and Kazaki however had come at two completely separate times. Kazaki had come from an island far to east raised,by monks in a now ancient martial art, she claims it has no name. Lost to history like most of the world. Jules ironic enough came from the opposite side the world living with her father who was a miner. She learned about crystals and rocks as she would help her father sort out the valuables.

Even though everyone was opening up to Virgil and Angel they felt they shouldn't only because they didn't know if they would pass the next tests. They were confident in their respective skills however they've learned it was smart to keep low expectations.

And so after the more in-depth introduction were made they finally went into the history of the school and the current happenings in the world. The reason being most of the people who grew up not part of the resistance didn't know much about what was happening only that they were at war with demons again. The resistance didn't tell them how bad things were actually going to try and stop the spread of panic however people had ways of finding out. Virgil and Angel just weren't those people only knowing that their father told them this was where their journey would had it not ended in that village.

After the current events were spoken of the twins still hadn't understood the reason behind the sudden war they felt maybe if they learned more of the history then the motives would become clear. They hadn't become anymore clear, the truth was no one knew exactly why the war was happening only that it was. The four students Kazaki, Adam, Jules, and Chan, even though he just slightly nodded in agreement and interjected with hands signs, had decided to explain the theories of why the war was happening.

"Well like I was saying the school itself isn't exactly a school. It's more of a resistance camp, and sort of a city too really. It's a place where people from all over the world come to train, learn, even buy and trade things. Most people aren't as in touch with their aura. They come here seeking refuge from their war torn cities. Humanity has been pushed to brink. The students, however few we are in number, seek to grow strong and protect those in need and lead them back here to safety."

The twins were listening intently trying to soak up as much information as they could it never seemed like it but Virgil was actually quite studious the same could be said about Angel however, with her disposition it was expected. Adam continued his explanation.

"Us humans have been crawling back from the brink since this school was built 70 years ago. Many wartime legends originate here and even more have turned coat to the demons in lust for power, status, and all around hatred"

' guess dad really knew what he was talking about when he told us to come here.'

Virgil thought to himself as he looks down at his sword angrily. Angel smiles bitter-sweetly as she reaches for his shoulder. Virgil keeps walking before she can make contact. Keeping his demeanor he decided to push the conversation forward

"Well that was a nice little history lesson for us, but what is the demon's plan. There is no way there's no end goal."

At this point Kazaki took the reigns on the conversation

"There's a couple of theories, none of them are very sunshine and roses."

"Like what?"

There was a moment of silence as the other realized this wouldn't be a fun topic for anyone around but, who were they to stop people who wanted to join from gaining knowledge

"If you really want to get into it I guess…Some say the demons seek more than that of the Inferno. They want the Terra Firma too. It's said that the species derive their power from their respective realms, but what do you think would happen if a species were able to draw power from two at once."

Angel was following where Kazaki was going with her explanation and spoke up

"They would get exponentially stronger. This world would turn into a second inferno where no life but demonkind could survive."
